The Green Day Movie Musical?!
Although the Green Day musical, American Idiot, doesn't premiere on Broadway until mid-April, there is already talks of turning it into a movie!
Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are interested in turning the coming of age story into a feature film.
The show centers around three small-town guys. One joins the military, another moves to the city and acquires a drug habit, the lasts stays at home and gets his girlfriend pregnant. And each event is told through Green Day songs!
Hanks and Goetzman were behind Mamma Mia! so it's debatable how this project will turn out!

I already have my tix and can't wait! It should be a night full of great music and a tonne of energy. Unfortunately these shows typically don't translate well into movies though… However, it is nice that they become more accessible to those that can't afford $100+ for tickets.

The musical is looking really promising. The clips of it that have been leaked look incredible. I would totally see it, especially if Jonathan Gallagher, Jr stars in his originating role
i loved Green Day performance at the Grammy's with the performers from this how. I have always loved Green Day and it will just be cool to hear their music in a venue other than a concert venue.

I'm really hoping to catch the musical! One of the stars, John Gallagher, Jr. is friends with a bunch of my friends and from my hometown of Wilmington. Unfortunately I missed him in Spring Awakening so I definitely want to check him out in American Idiot. He's so talented!
Of course I´ll see the musical! GD is one of the best bands out there and AI is a classical album in rock history!
It's the only musical WORTH seeing (other than Across the Universe and Sweeney Todd). They should definitely make it a movie.
