Chloe Trashes Her Own Show!

In an interview with the AV Club, Chloe Sevigny dishes on what she really thinks about this season of HBO's Big Love.
She says:
It was awful this season, as far as I’m concerned. I’m not allowed to say that! [Gasps.] It was very telenovela. I feel like it kind of got away from itself. The whole political campaign seemed to me very farfetched. I mean, I love the show, I love my character, I love the writing, but I felt like they were really pushing it this last season. And with nine episodes, I think they were just squishing too much in. HBO only gave us nine Sundays, because they have so much other original programming—especially with The Pacific—and they only have a certain amount of Sundays per year, so we only got nine Sundays. I think that they had more story than episodes. I think that’s what happened.
Oh God, I know. Oh, God. It’s too much. It’s too much. But I hope the fans will stick with us and tune in next year. There’s a lot of people who really love this season, surprisingly. God, I’m going to get in so much trouble.
Yikes!
If they kill Nicki Grant off next season, you'll know why!

I love her, she always keeps it real.
i hope that they dont kill her. i love her character on the show
I agree with her. This was my least-favorite season and Ive been watching it since the beginning. But i know people who have said this season is their favorite so i dunno i guess it depends.
She's right, many fans of the show claimed this was the season that jumped the shark. There was just way too much going on and Bill running for senate was ridiculous. Announcing to people that he was a polygamist on top of that? Very dumb.
Don't forget that Sevigny is an Academy Award nominated actress, she knows her stuff.
don't worry, she can always blow the producer
•
as far as HBO Films / Productions are concerned, Chloe is TOAST!
•
i am all for actors venting and stating their opinions about their roles / shows
•
but i am guessing the producers / writers of that Big Love will NOT be happy
•
luckily for Chloe, she will come out of this okay
•
if it were any other young actor, i'd say they would have screwed themselves
•
however, Chloe is a talented actress,
and will be fine after this little mishap blows over
•
Re: hamnip – LOL. Yeah, that "Brown Bunny" clip will forever hound her career, though she doesn't see it that way. She still believes it was artistic expression.
Hello, fellating the movie's director, who just happens to be your ex-boyfriend?? Chloe put the "dumb" in dumb blonde.
I mean i didnt HATE this season. It got kinda slow and they seemed to get out of trouble too easily…. there were some really great parts to the season but it was not so great at times. But, Ill totally watch another season.
The Pacific fucking rocks…and I'm not just saying that b/c my cousin is playing on of the leads, Bob Leckie. it's waaaay better than this stupid salacious show. The Pacific is a piece of American TV history, just like Band of Brothers. shit, they did a private screen at the White House with the President a few days before the TV premier.
hey perez, you should slap up some photos up my cousin, James Badge Dale, and hype him up. he's an incredible actor and his new show on AMC, Rubicon, starts filming next week and it's generating good buzz. but don't diss him or i'll come to LA and beat your ass LOL!
Love the show, but have to agree. It was kinda all over the place this season.
They can't kill Nikki Grant she IS the show at this point. it did totally sick, I want the old intro and Big love back.
Chloe is fucking ballsy I love her. Standing up to HBO??? She read my mind, I really liked this show and this last season has been terrible, and she's not afraid to say it! Wow. I don't fucking care if it's technically irresponsible for her to say that and it jeoapardizes the show, she wants to do good work and the writers and producers need to listen up!
I love the show! So addicted. I started watching season one two weeks ago and I finished season three yesterday! I haven't watch the forth season but she truly is the only reason why the show is so amazing. The intrigue always revolves around her, I think:) Anyways, it is for sure they will keep her, they have too, she's way too fucking good and crazy to let her go. My opinion is that she can say whatever the fuck she wants, they will keep her, she won a Golden Globe because she is the heart of the show!
I love her
I LOVEDDDD THIS SEASON!!!
Love the show and will continue to watch but I have to agree with Chloe. I've watched from the very first season and this season was just plain bizarre and unrealistic. The only storyline I liked is Nicki's ex-husband coming back into her life. That character's actor is really creepy and he brought a whole new dimension to the show. I hope the writers get the show back on track and stop with all the various storylines. It was almost hard to keep them all straight.
Chloe Sevigny is so awesome!
I'm a huge Big Love fan and I couldn't agree with her more.
She needs to shut it before she gets fired. I watch the show only for Chloe.
Why doesn't this stupid bitch just keep her mouth shut? She won a Golden Globe, didn't she? This show was a miraculous lifesaver to her non-career - she should be grateful.
but she's so right.
Chloe's great, I like that she has an opinion about the material she works with, that means she cares.
this season was decent.
but 9 episodes????????
that doesn't count as a season, HBO!
that's just retarded.
i say switch the days n give us a REAL season.
she is completely right.
show fuckin sucks…couldnt believe how bad it was…! was not able to sit through a scene!
i love her and i love the show! i too thought that this season seemed way rushed but i enjoyed it nonetheless!!! can't wait till next year. 12 episodes please!!!!
she so told the TRUTH! I love this show. But it totally jumped the shark this season. I hope they can pull it back together or I am done with it. When Bill's Mom chopped off the other guys arm as they were being held captive in Mexico…give me an f'n break! What the he double toothpicks was that?
chloe sevigny, for the win. lady read my mind. ive been a towering advocate of this particular show since its' birth and i spent more time than my "complete AWESOMENESS" should permit me to enlist.. vacillating between my opposing viewpoints.. on the one, pt of me expected to see the stories begin to deluge the characters and direction… "oh what tangled webs we weave"— come on.. you can only run frenziedly with a polygamy conspiracy for so long until the lies pile and pile and the general story becomes underwhelmed.. but it did IRK THE EVER LIVING FUCK out of me.. that amid each episode one had to withstand the innocuous droning of "SHIT'S HITTING THE FAN!!!" music.. i was like.. "really? again? NOW?" in sort, she's right. the idea and the characters were underwhelmed by this gargantuan shitstorm of EVERYONE'S fuckupery. -dagnee
This season was a hot mess!!! Chloe spoke the 100% truth and bless her for doing it. Let's face it….if you are an accomplished actor and you are forced to try and keep it real with 9 hours of episodes…you have to speak the truth. A typical network series has 20-22 episodes per season. Trying to cram this mess into 9 shows was a joke. It probably is not recoverable. The last episode left the whole show hanging with it's fanny in the breeze. The uncomfortable look on Gennifer Goodwin's face in the final episode said it all. Such a shame. My favorite guilty pleasure is probably over.
She was being honest. It's refreshing to read something truthful from an actor once in a while. This season was my least favorite. The political campaign was boring and goofy! I hope the next season is better. I'm looking forward to Bill getting what he deserves and the wives waking up and seeing him for what he really is!
Love the show, a lot did happen this season, no big deal though she should be able to have an opinion without backlash
It was a pretty bad season of Big Love and at the same time way to short. There where some good parts like when that guy got his arm cut off. But the political stuff was to forced.
I totally agree with everything she says … Big Love was a Big Joke this season
She is just stating what most of diehard Big Love fans were thinking… I have seen EVERY episode, and I was DEFINITELY let down this season!!
I think she is right.
love the show, she is absolutely right. way to many story lines
I agree with Chloe. It seemed squished and forced. But I'll still watch!
Caroaber: What is the "Brown Bunny clip"? Who did she blow? Is this a scene from BL or he actual life? Need info! Thanks.
I'm with Chloe. I'm a huge fan of the show, but this season they just put way too much story in. The last two episodes gave me a little hope that things will get better, but there were just too many characters and too many plots to keep up with this time around. Don't worry, they won't get rid of her. With all of the trouble between Bill and Barb this season, Nicki is going to be VERY important to hold on to.
I agree with 100%…. I was starting to get annoyed by all the crazy storylines that never seem to get solved in any way. It's frustrating show to watch lately. The campaign storyline was stupid. Having said that, I still love it and will watch.
show looks HORRIBLE anyway.
I am so glad she said that!! Big Love was the best show, the writing was amazing but this season? WTF? I always thought HBO would not back this show, that's why they put it on once a year for 6 - 9 weeks. LAME. But this season? It was laughable!! I thought the main writer quit. It lost it's way. The thing about Big Love was it was believable and in the end you always liked Bill's character. This season he was a self centered jerk who did not care about his family or Don and it made no sense. I laughed at the end, red, white and blue — so cliche!! If HBO can finally get behind this show, bring it on more than once a year (really) and bring back the good writing than I am back. But between now and than my HBO will remain canceled!
