We love this!

Tyler Perry's next film For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, based on the 1975 award winning play, will feature an all-star cast — including not only Janet Jackson, but also Mariah Carey!

Two divas in the same movie? Amazing!

Other ladies taking on roles in the film include Whoopi Goldberg, Phylicia Rashad, Kerry Washington, Jurnee Smollett, Macy Gray, Kimberly Elise, and Loretta Devine.

The film is going to start filming in June with an anticipated release date in winter 2010 or 2011.

Will U be checking it out?

    SOUNDS Damn GOOD OMG :)

They both waited too long to become top- notch actresses. They are both over 40 which means their acting lives will be a short one. I like them better as entertainers of song not film, but good luck to them anyway. At least they saved their money.

  9. 9

Uh, whatever happened to discovering new talent, tapping unknown resources, giving an up and comer a chance?

Each one of these actresses is established and rich. Sure, Smollett and Elise could use some more exposure, but so could Aunjanue Ellis and many others. And Janet and Mariah aren't even really actors. It's not like Juilliard doesn't have Black actresses enrolled there.

I understand that marquee names do bring in audiences, but it's kinda hard to envision Phylicia Rashad and Kerry Washington as oppressed, struggling women.

Yes !!! Great play and probably a great movie. Mariah has proven herself as an actress after 3 GREAT ROLES/PERFORMANCES in Tenesee, Wise Girls & Precious. She's a great actress and this is one in a long line of movies to come for Mariah. Other "singers" who try to act should take a lesson from Mariah on how it's done !!!!!!!

  14. 14

BTW Perez, this story is 3 days old !! Late as usual..

  15. 15

Sounds like another winner in the works! His movies are great! And I like both singers Janet and Mariah, so yeah! :D

HELL TO THE NAWWWW!!! TYPER PERRY IS DIRECTING. HE SUXX ASS. ALL HIS FLICKS GET TRASHED BY REVIEWERS!! I'M SURE MOORIAH WILL GET A RAZZIE NOMINATION OUT OF THIS. SHE'S DONE.

  18. 18

I always thought "Enuf" was spelled with 2 F's. I guess that is the way that White Girls spell it.

  19. 19

hahaha! awesome! Gosh i hope Madea's in it!! :D D

  20. 20

I'm intrigued by the title, so, yes. I thought that when Tyler Perry said at the Oscars "oh, the only time ever I'll hear my name at the Oscars" was self-destructive. Why say that? Just make a good film, you already have a foot at the Oscars.

  21. 21

Why not bold Kimberly Elise's name?! She IS the most talented actress of that bunch (save Phylicia Rashad) …

  22. 22

    Can't wait! :D

In addition, I love the fact that JJ and Mimi mutually respect each other professionally and personally. No animosity….only love! :) They should make for a great duo on screen! In addition, the as a whole cast is a brilliant selection by Tyler. And thank goodness he did not cast Mrs. I-want-all-of-the-money-and-attention-Carter-Knowles. That would have made my stomach turn!

    Mariah Carey's 'Precious' career
From MSNBC's Entertainment-Movies article, "Can Miley Cyrus build a movie career? Will she shine onscreen like Mariah Carey, or flop like Madonna?"

    Mariah Carey's 'Precious' career
After the epic disaster that was "Glitter," everyone expected Mariah Carey's film career to follow the Tony Bennett trajectory. Bloody but unbowed, however, she pressed on with her acting career, to much better results. Not many people saw the indie "WiseGirls," in which Carey turned out a spunky and funny performance as a seen-it-all waitress in a mob-run restaurant.

But it was her attention-getting turn in last year's "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire," that established Carey as an actress to watch. Yes, much to-do was made over the fact that she had drab hair and wardrobe in the part, and eschewed makeup to the point where she was practically mustachioed, but that was just the surface.

What Carey brought to the role was a ferocity, a deadpan wit and an intensity that was the complete antithesis of her inert walk-through of "Glitter." She's been cast in Tyler Perry's upcoming all-star adaptation of Ntozake Shange's "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf," and it's going to be interesting to see where her film career takes her. It will be equally interesting to see if Cyrus will ever feel prepared to tackle a film as gritty and unglamorous as "Precious."
