Another Oscar Caliber Director Approached For Breaking Dawn!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooFilm FlickersTwilight

amd_eclipse_posterjb.jpg

We don't know how any filmmaker would want to TOUCH this one, let alone one who has been nominated for Academy Awards!!

Steven Daldry, who is the inspired director behind Billy Elliot, The Hours, and most recently, The Reader, is the latest contender approached to take on the fourth Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn!

Other directors allegedly being considered include Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola, and Bill Condon!

We don't know what any of those people are thinking - we know EXACTLY what happens in that mess of a book, and there's virtually no way the adaptation is going to be anything other than a disaster unless they make DRASTIC plot changes!

And you know the Twi-Hards won't stand for that!!

No official offers to directors will be made until that poor screenwriter, Melissa Rosenberg, hands in an outline for the script. Girlfriend must be ripping her hair out while she attempts to pull something remotely watchable out of that garbage!

What do U think?? Who do U want to see direct the Breaking Dawn movie??

  1. 1

    what's it to you?

  2. 2

I don't think it's necessarily a bad book to turn into a movie. There are some scenes that would be great in movie (the wedding, the sex scenes, the stuff renesmee sees). It's probably no problem for a good director.

  3. 3

the fact that perez calls the book garbage almost makes me like him

  4. 4

im really anxious to see who will direct it, those or alot of big names and very talented people.. its going to be interesting..

  5. 5

You must not have read the same book I did. I loved this book and cannot wait until the movie(s) are made. I do not think they can make this all in one movie, there is too much in the book. I like Katherine Hardewick who directed the first one best, she did a much better job than Chris Weitz.

  6. 6

gosh, breaking dawn is so full of crap, I can`t believe how someone older than 13 wrote this effing book

  7. 7

If all those directors are smart, they will turn them down. They will lose all credibility if their name becomes attached to this twilight garbage.

  8. 8

Tim Burton!!! I think this wouldve been great, they need a new screenwriter, that melissa girl sucks, she has messed up everything

  9. 9

    Quentin Tarrentino.

THAT is who I would like to see direct it. Mind you, he is far to epic for the twilight saga.

As much as it would be neat, he's out of twilight's league. He's much too awesome.

  10. 10

it's just like harry potter all over again. EVERYTHING is already different in the other movies, so i wouldn't be surprised if BD is just as horrible as the first 2movies i've seen. although, they would do well bringing back catherine hardwick. =3

  11. 11

i love the twilight series but breaking dawn was a total disaster. i'll go watch it though just to get a good laugh.

  12. 12

Breaking Dawn was definitely the best book.

  13. 13

    i really dont care
afte watching the 1st 2 movies all i can say this movies are pure crap
btw perez always says that KStew is a terrible actress but i think she did a fantastic job in the Runaways
she can act! just give her the right scrip
anyways everyone is terrible in the Twilight movies

  14. 14

quentin tarantino would put a cool spin on this movie:)

  15. 15

I actually can't wait to see what they'll make out of it. The book is so ridiculously bad there just seems no way this could be anything but a train wreck to laugh at.

  16. 16

    you know what
if the movie is made and its good
i don't give too shits with who the director is

  17. 17

i loved the book and i think sofia coppola would be a great choice for this movie… she's definitely quirky/weird enough to make it work.

  18. 18

Um - whoever is posing as Perez to write this should really check themselves.. You'd have to be an idiot to turn down a movie that's going to automatic box office gold — 2nd, you'd have to be an even bigger idiot not to like the books or the movies, so :OP

  19. 19

thought Breaking dawn was one of the best of the 4 books. It was great!!!!! Albeit, you do need quite an imagination to enjoy BD which I though Perez had. You know since he seems to think he is more important than he actually is.

  20. 20

i think if they split it in to two movies it will be fine as long as they find a good place to break the story into two pieces. and i think that that was the best book. in my opinion new moon was the worst .

  21. 21

    Re: Moey13 – i agreee!

  22. 22

Everyone is talking about how horrible the first two movies are, but fact is you STILL went & saw them. Whoever does decide to direct BD is guaranteed a huge payday and a movie that will be a box office success. Sounds like a good deal to me.

  23. 23

The last book is great and I'm looking forward to Breaking Dawn. You of all people should no insult a talented author when you don't write half of your blog and when you do, its awful spelling and even worse grammar. And aren't you a Twilight saga fan, Perez??

  24. 24

BD was ttly crap…Shame on u Smeyer!!! It's like a 11 years old girl wrote it…

  25. 25

out of the entire series, breaking dawn was without a doubt my favourite….it's the culmination of the entire saga, The heroine gets what she always wanted, the freaky advanced 'dreamlike' knowledge that her and her daughter will be in danger, the learning how to be a vampire part, the joy of running and hunting in the forest, jumping over the river or lake or whatever….the plan to have her daughter go into hiding with the shady but good hearted (and scared out of his mind) lawyer, the gradual building of the allies, the education on shielding, and the buildup to the epic confrontation with the volturi, ……
ok…what exactly here is NOT to like?…it was the best damn book in the series….
personaly, i felt that she grew as a writer over the entire thing, and the final book was her masterpiece….it's the one book in the series i've actually re-read several times…the sheer joy she feels when she finally becomes a vampire…it just too awesome…
i can think of a few good directors for this, but so long as they stay true to the story we'll be ok….personally i can't stand it when a book is changed to suit a movie…what the hell is that?…if a book is beloved enough to warrant a movie, it's because people love the story…why the fuck would you change that of all things?….

  26. 26

0 SHUT UP PEREZ BREAKING DAWN WILL BE A AWESOME MOVIE JUST LYKE THE BOOK!!

  27. Anci says – reply to this

    27

Mario…I don´t agree with you when you call Stephenie Meyers Breaking Dawn "that mess of a book"!!
    Personally, I love it!!

  28. 28

    Re: Tabularasa – AGREED!!!!!

  29. 29

I'm a 25 year old woman, not a 15 year old girl, and I loved Breaking Dawn. So did lots of my girlfriends. I'm sure lots of people didn't like War and Peace, but that seemed to do ok!

  30. 30

I read all four books. In my opinion Breaking Dawn and Eclipse were the best by a mile. Twilight was the worst, followed by New Moon. Have you people Perez has writing this blog even read any of them? I don't know why you would say it was garbage if you actually took the time to read it. But whatever.

  31. 31

I loved Breaking Dawn…but I think it's to much book for one movie. I fear much of it will be left out

  32. 32

You won't have even read it, doubt you can barely read full stop, definitely not a book of that length. You probably just wikipedia'd it. You stupid lame ass.

  33. 33

Re: scandal1 – I completely agree! I think the first one was a little cheesy BUT it was more personal and wasnt all about using the budget for effects and things. It was more about the story. I hate that they are blowing these movies up so much. Just stick to what worked the first time. "Why re-invent the wheel?"

  34. 34

Breaking Dawn wasnt a bad book, it was good. The only thing that was a let down was the big battle. Everything else was pretty good. Though the final battle needs to be something special for a big named director to want to helm the project.

  35. 35

Re: TheSalmon – I think that Quinton would ruin it. He would make it to much about the blood and gore. It doesn't need to be that way. Sofia Coppola is a good choice that someone mentioned. Maybe Ron Howard would be good too.

  36. 36

Re: Tabularasa – WOW UR DUMB…lol seriously no serious director would take on shit like twilight..i know u are some 15 year old girl who used the fourth book to masturbate but dude not everybody wants to masturbate to it…lol it may be box office gold hahahah, ok sorry had to laugh, but thats because dumb people are gonna go watch it, and we have a lot of those in the US, but if any good director took this on, he would be burned in the figurative sense for it, he would be ruined and not get any actual GOOD MOVIES for a while you know the type that get nominated for oscars and are shown in cannes

  37. 37

I read breaking dawn and I hope that someone helps Melissa R write a good script. My choice would be Danny boyle he made a zombie movie (28days) a critical hit. Slumdog a depressing love story a world wide hit. I think that he could make it realistically scary and a wonderful love story all in one.

  38. 38

    whatever

  39. 39

Who cares who directs the thing. It's going to suck b/c Rosenberg is writing the screenplay again. She was just a bad a screenwriter as Hardwick was a director…almost worse.

  40. 40

Screw you perez! i'm surprised you even know how to read. Breaking Dawn was a great book. have you even read the books? or do you just like to make igornant comments about anything Kristen Stewart is in? Oh and by the way i just saw runways and Kristen did a great job of portraying joan jett.. so go fuck yourself!

  41. 41

    The Reader?!
    Hello Isle Esme. :)

  42. 42

geez perez, aren't you excited to finally see edward get it on!!????

  43. 43

Katherine Hardewick did a great job the first time. Much better than what followed. She should come back.

  44. 44

I usually agree with you on stuff Perez, but on this one youre talking out of your ass. Stop being such a hater! The people in those "garbage" movies make more money and have more fame than you ever will. Im starting to think youre just a jealous little girl.

  45. 45

Sure, it could work. They just need to scrap everything from the book and replace all of the actors. Otherwise, they would just be polishing a turd.

  46. 46

I am way too old to have read these books, but I have teenage daughters, so I hopped on the bandwagon with them. Stephenie Meyer had me until Breaking Dawn. I have to agree with Perez, that book was a disaster. Absolutely cringe-worthy. The whole sped-up pregnancy and growth of the child was sickening to read. I can't imagine how awful Kristen Stewart will be in those scenes. And Renesmee has to be the absolute WORST NAME EVER.

  47. 47

Really Fuk them up lol,, get Rob Zombie!!!

  48. 48

what is wrong with you? twilight directors are more famous and wealthier than you will EVER BE. you're ridiculous acting like you're better than the twilight franchise. i bet if you were a director you would cut off your left balls to get on that!

  49. 49

i seriously think they need to stop at Eclipse; i enjoyed the first three books, but breaking dawn is a true mess.

  50. 50

    I liked the book.

  51. 51

ugh YOU ANNOY ME PEREZ! i bet you don't even read.. your grammar and spelling is a MESS ON YOUR WEBSITE!

  52. 52

Breaking Dawn is my favorite of the series.

And anyone who says they should bring Hardwicke back CLEARLY is not a fan of the series. She DESTROYED Twilight. After NM came out, I tried to forget that Twilight even existed.

  53. 53

    Re: Coralein – LOL!! Seriously.

  54. 54

I could barely make it through 20 minutes of the first movie without shutting itoff…..so i really don't know how all you people can bear to sit through 4 movies. This whole thing needs to fade into oblivion fast. Since when did mediocre storytelling and awful acting become so revered? Ugh.

  55. 55

Re: exador – Amen to that! Perez probably thinks it's bad because he didn't read it nor did he understand it. I agree with everything you said– right down to how she manages to keep a relationship with Charlie and how she takes to vampirism so well… what's not to like? Just because no one gets shredded in the end, and there's a happy ending for everyone? Really.
Eclipse was my favorite book but BD was my second.

  56. 56

Wait, this whole post is just stupid. Any director that takes this on will make a shit load of money. They obviously wont be doing it because they think they can make a great film. But, come on. It's going to be just as big as all the rest of them. Let's go Gus Van Sant!

  57. 57

garbage??? that was the best book! what were you reading?!

  58. 58

What i'd like to know is where are they going to find a toddler that can be as expressive as Renesmee in the book? Answer: they won't, they'll have to age her a little more. They'd seriously have to chop down Jacob's story just so not to bore us all to death as well as the supposed "battle" that takes place in the end. IN my opinion, it would've been "sensible" if they ended the Eclipse movie, with the wedding/ honeymoon pregancy, and started Breaking dawn with Bella suffering and alternating with Jacob's story, and completely rewrite the other vamps coming in from all over, because it just doesnt seem logical (even for vampires) that they'd gather in one place, just talking with not so much action or interaction on the outside.

  59. 59

I think breaking dawn was the most grown up of all of the books, and it was by far the most enjoyable to read.

  60. 60

GARBAGE!!!??? I think you will piss alot of people off calling Breaking Dawn garbage!!! your gonna eating your words Perez, each movie gets better and better! and the books will always be better than the movies anyways and Mellisa has done an awesome job and will do with Breaking Dawn!!

  61. 61

    hello!
    *SPOILERS*
I have to agree with Perez, when I read Breaking Dawn i was so dissapointed! First of all i wanted her to be with Jacob, and that's so Effed up Jacob being with Renesmee that's pedophilia! lol Even though all that stuff about that he cares for her as a big bro, bla bla bla. I think they should talk with Stephanie Meyer to rewrite Breaking Dawn for the movie, to make it more commercial. She's going to have a hard time with all those parents blaming her for a pedophile relationship between J and R, don`t u agree? and for me it was the least interesting book, my fave was New Moon, it was better written too I think, Breaking Dawn was kinda rushed, that's my point. Thank you

  62. 62

i love the twilight saga and i think any director would be smart to direct it.
i dont think it would hurt anyones career for doing so. yea maybe breaking dawn isnt going to win an oscar but there are a lot of good movies that dont.
i think it would break a lot of peoples hearts not to make it. i personally would be very upset and i know many people that would be too.
secondly- the screenplays are getting a little better- i mean in twilight its says "hold on spider monkey" like what is that?! but new moon stayed truer to the book.
also- contrary to what a few people said- i think that new moon was directed a lot better than twilight. it was definitely more visually appealing
i dont really care who directs the movie as long as it gets made and stays as true as it can to the book.
ive read the whole series twice and eclipse and breaking dawn are my favorites. yea breaking dawn is a little different but it is really interesting.
anyone who hates on the twilight saga is stupid- do you even realize how successful it is? both the books and the movies. obviously they are doing something right.
lastly- anything with robert pattinson in it is worth seeing because he is GORGEOUS!! for anyone who hasnt seen remember me- i recommend it. it is really good and really sad!

  63. 63

I almost never agree with the perez ghost writers… but at least they can see that Breaking Dawn was a steaming pile. My wife donated it to the library and kept the other 3. She refuses to acknowledge BD's existence.

Whoever said they should bring back Hardwicke never saw the first movie. My dog could have directed the first book better.

  64. 64

Re: love_life7 – hahahahah i cant believe you just said "but a whole lot of good movies dont get oscars" hahahaha twilight is not a good movie im sorry to tell you that or the books for that matter…lol..its called literary trash out in the world, but it makes good money so they make movies of it, but it will never be considered anything more than low crap trash by the acadamy

  65. 65

Mess of a book? you haven't even read it!!!!!!!

  66. 66

I am a big Twilight fan but I have to say.. I am in NO hurry to see Breaking Dawn. Will I see it because I am curious how they will turn the book into a movie? Most likely!
What a horrible, build up of a book. The Twilight Series is not good literature to begin with; entertaining characters that draw you in, yes. But Breaking Dawn was just awful on many, many levels. There was a severe emotional disconnect with Bella and Edward, and if you've read the book there was also a disconnect with him and "Nessie"( what an awful name for a child).
The birthing scene is just graphic and unnecessary- I don't know how they will put that into a screenplay and make it appropriate for the tweens.
The only plot I really enjoyed was Bella finally understanding her powers.
Everything moved rather quickly from one thing to another and it was hard to keep up.
Like the other books, this one also had many grammatical errors. Does anyone look these books over before they go to press?

  67. 67

Any director who has any sense left wouldn't touch this movie project with a 10 foot pole if they want to keep there name as good at least but if the re willing to sell out for money than they can go right ahead it is Hollywood after all.

  68. 68

The only change the director absolutely needs to make is to have the vampire battle at the end, the one they've been working towards since New Moon, come to fruition. The other stuff - vampire sex, vampire baby, waaay too much wolf pack - will just take a delicate director's touch.

  69. 69

    Re: hcoboy

yes that is indeed what i said.
go ahead and think its trash i really dont care what ur opinion is.
please try to write something or make a movie that is half as successful as the twilight saga and i will eat my words. til then ur stupid.

  70. 70

    Re: hcoboy

im gonna just say that this post is really ignorant and inappropriate.
u obviously think u know more than you actually do.

  71. 71

how can you slag on a book you obviously havent read.

  72. 72

Hey chill out Perez! Breaking Dawn wasn't bad, its just not easily translated into a movie. Don't trash the book! So far the movies haven't been good anyway… its too late to offend me by sucking, but the original writing is NOT the problem.

  73. 73

Re: love_life7 – I agree with everything you say. You sound like a fellow intelligent ADULT Twilight fan….Not that there is anything wrong with the teenagers who love Twilight because they are great too. I am SOOOOOOOOOO……. sick of hearing people put down the books and the movies. They are great and people who hate on it are just miserable jealous little people who need to go find a hobby that doesn't involve hating.

  74. 74

i honestly think catherine hardwicke should come back and direct it. everyone says twilight was shitty, i thought it was amazing and hella better than new moon. it doesn't really matter to me though, just as long as i get to see some headboards bustin(:

  75. 75

James Cameron. Maybe he can invent some technology where Reneesme looks real. And please god let it not be in 3D.

  76. 76

    Re: 86theolive

DO NOT EVER COMPARE THIS RUBBISH TO HP!!! DISGUSTING!

  77. 77

Re: Evening_Star23 – i couldn't agree with you more! not about the bella shoulda been w/ jacob part though. but new moon was the best book, and breaking dawn wasn't complete shit, but it did seem like stephenie was rushing things. too much stuff was going on in the book and then it just ended with this happily-ever-after blah blah blahhh crap. predictable.

  78. 78

    Re: sugarberrymlp

BREAKING DAWN IS TERRIBLE JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE series.

  79. 79

Wait, am i missing something?? What's wrong with the 4th book? In my opinion, it was the best book!!!

  80. Ms.G says – reply to this

    80

Pls people lay off this guy….. he is just doing his job and giving his opinion. It is a opinion and not fact, so just chill. This movie will be made regardless who the director is and it will be a huge success. All of you haters out there who claim there need to be drastic changes NEED TO SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE. Are you f…king crazy….you can't change the plot on an authors material unless they say so. SM owns all right to the Twilight Saga and she would never allow it and why should she. She is the author and she told the story the way she wanted to tell it and ended it the way she wanted to. She can do whatever she likes with the chracters she created! This lady wrote 4 novels that became worldwide sensations and all of those books so far have been made into successful films. Do you think she gives a damn what you people think! PLEASE! Why don't you haters go write a novel and see if you can get someone to read it let alone published it! I love these books and i admired Ms. Meyers. I think she is a very bright and a very courageous, classy lady. YOU ROCK STEPH!

  81. Ms.G says – reply to this

    81

    Re: Evening_Star23

I am sure that when Ms. Meyers is counting all of her MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, that she is worrying about what people like you think. Jacob? Really? What have you been smoking?

  82. Ms.G says – reply to this

    82

    [re=4881092]Re: megz(r.i.p.metrostation

  83. Ms.G says – reply to this

    83

Re: Emmaaa – No you are not. The whole series was really good. These people are crazy and jealous. I bet they have read the book over and over too. But Summit need to lay off of these so call acclaimed directors. They would not touch this with a ten foot pole. Sorry…just being honest

  84. 84

They've changed the plot a little in all the other movies and as long as Stephenie Meyer approves then I'm o board.

  85. 85

Haha, yeah, I do hope they totally rework the plot!! Lord knows I was addicted to the books, but the writing was terrible and the plot was GODAWFUL in the last book.

  86. 86

Breaking Dawn was an interesting book. With the right director.. and maybe a different screenwrite, it could really pull through. The love, the sex, the drama, the anger… could be wonderful.

  87. 87

"Mess of a book"? "Drastic plot changes"? Yeah, Breaking Dawn is extreme compared to the rest of the series, but how the hell is there "virtually no way" to make this into a movie?? If you're referring to the plot then you're ridiculous. There are so many other movies these days that are pure garbage. If you're referring to special effects… In my opinion, if they can make wolves they can make Renesmee. Regardless if it's a "disaster" or not, the fan base is big enough to not let that happen.

And if you ask me, all the crap you're trying to do these days is utter bullshit. Twilight makes more money and has a bigger fan base than all your shit so maybe you should take a couple pointers from them.

  88. 88

Needs Catherine Hardwicke's woman's eye…she really "got it"!!!

  89. 89

Re: Moey13 – Most definitely my favorite of the four!

  90. 90

i think either really david slade or even chris weitz makes the most sense

    GO TWILIGHT

  91. 91

I love the Twilight Saga, all except BD!! I don't care who directs, I just hope they do not make two movies and they take out a lot of BD! Keep the wedding, sex, and baby (even though I hate that she had a baby) leave out the whole Jacob side, I mean really how many times do we have to hear that Bella broke a rib and they are running the property. I hated all these new characters the brought in, and then they need to rewrite the end and have a big fight with the Volturi, instead of that lame ending!

  92. 92

Tim Burton or M. Night Shamalon!!! Tim Burton Because he turns every thing dark and moody like the plot of twilight!!! M. Night Because PLOT TWISTS!!!

  93. 93

Doesn´t matter who is going to direct BD, as long as that shitty Rosemberg is OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT. She managed to kill all the books!

  94. 94

Re: MandiBee – - perfect . the book should end with edward and bella, already as a vampire ,f* ing each other for the first time. The rest, I don´´t give a damn!

  95. 95

Re: love_life7 – lol hahahahaa hun majority of the world agrees with me i aint trying to be mean or anything i mean im glad something encouraged young gilrs to read even though all it is is masturbation material (AND DONT SAY ITS NOT I KNOW MORE THAN A FEW GIRLS WHO HAVE MASTURBATED TO IT) its trash period, its the type of thing that is popular right now with a few people but then after a couple of years…puff gone with the wind….the sad thing is most twilight fans wont admit its trash, some do and agree its trash, but a guilty pleassure kinda trash…but others probably u included thinks it deserves and oscar and to be put on a gold shelf and aclaimed as the best book ever…guess what..ITS NOT..

  96. 96

Re: Prest0nn – hahahaha they wouldnt touch this crap with a condom covered pole

  97. 97

Re: 86theolive – dont fucken compare harry potter to this trash

  98. 98

Re: iSayEffU – Thank u i agree with you and so so does everybody who is not a horny fat virgin

  99. 99

uh i hated some of it but liked some of it. In the end i ended up liking renesme but i HAted who shes supposed to end up with! and i hated how theres supposed to be a big fight to the death and its talked about forever and then they just look and each other and eh thats it! like BORING… Someone should have died.. At least like rosalie or one of the cullens.. but NO.. its just to perfect an ending.. Like BLAH blAH BLAH>… They MUST change the ending!

  100. 100

There's just one thing I still cant or could ever, understand.

Edward has the mentality of a 100-something year old. The idea is hilarious. I can't help but imagining an old guy waddling around in his place.

Not to mention, why in the hell would a 100-something year old be in love with a 18 year old kid? Sure, 18 year old thinks they've got it all figured out, but the reality is they're still maturing - and babies, especially compared to someone that age!
