He looks so frail, but at the same time, we marvel at his strength!

Dennis Hopper was on hand to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday afternoon, despite his grueling battle with prostate cancer that has left him terribly weak.

      I have watched Dennis Hopper's movies from his begining and know that he is an wonderful actor. My prayers go out to Mr. Hopper and wish him my blessed prayers.

      Cancer is such a horrible, painful, sadistic and robs its victims of so much not even physically, but emotionally as well. My grandmother died of cancer 3 years ago and, it was the toughest thing I've ever seen someone i love go through. I wish this on no one.

      It's sad that you're only nice to people when they have a deadly disease or when they're fighting for gay rights…

      Cancer is such a bitch…i know dennis has been a long time smoker, not sure if that impacted his health, but nobody deserves the devestation it reigns on people. I was actually quite shocked that the guy had not had a star already?
      Every once in awhile i hear of some hasbeen getting a star….and then once in awhile like this…you learn of someone you had assumed got one years ago.
      Good that he got his day in the sun and i dont know the prognosis but i hope you fight that bitch dennis. Good luck.

      This made me tear up, so sad. Love that he has friends like Jack Nicholson there. Can't imagine anyone fighting with someone so frail and sick.

      He should have gotten a star years ago. He looks like he's so happy receiving it. Also that isn't is grand daughter that's his taughter. I wish him and his daughter the world.

      i lost my mama to pancreatic cancer a little over a year ago, and it is the saddest thing to watch a love one die. kudos to dennis hopper to get out into the media when he doesn't look like himself. it looks like he still has his sense of humor, which is something that my mama kept until the end. a week before she died, she wanted us to have a party for her. . . and she wanted to find a mixer for prune juice. my brother found a recipe for prune juice and vodka. . . harley bowel bangers. . . needless to say, one bathroom was not enough.

      Wow…I'm truly in tears here… I am not young, therefore, I've seen Dennis Hopper in all his movies, etc. He IS larger than life in all he has portrayed and in life. Always staying true to himself ! So happy to see Jack Nicholson there by his side. This goes to show, friendship, is indeed, forever. And the good…

How horrible must the things people do be for it to be NOT "sad to see them this way"? I'm curious. What does it take? Murder? Dennis hasn't been convicted of that. Rape? Dennis had his fare share of that. Beating up on women? Dennis had his fare share of that as well. Child sexual abuse? Genocide? What, exactly? B/c Dennis the Menace here is NOT a good person.       I was there. It was real sad knowing that he'll be gone soon and all, but he was in very high spirits and smiled a lot! There was a great crowd of fans there to support him. I feel very lucky to have seen him there today. =) I love Dennis Hopper.

      He's beyond skin and bones, poor thing. And with billions and billions poured into finding cures, and all the walks and marches, the US always seems woefully behind in finding anything resembling a cure for the Big C. But hospitals are big business, so are the drug companies.

      While some people may not be the greatest human beings in the world, no one deserves to suffer from cancer. My father was one of those people who died from lung cancer five years ago. Fortunatley he did not suffer long..died 6 weeks after his diagnoses. Although I pretty much detested my father most of my life…it was heartbreaking to watch him go from a very healthy man to 80 lbs in 6 weeks. I saw things that no person should ever have to witness, especially their own parent. People that say Dennis Hopper deserves to suffer, obviously, have not dealt with losing and watching a close family member suffer and die. I would not wish this on anyone, even my worst enemy!

      There is something horribly wrong with you. Why would anyone wish death on another person? He has a seven year old daughter who loves him dearly, after the ceremony, after Dennis Hopper had been taken to his vehicle, his little girl was screaming "I want my Daddy! I want my Daddy!". Her Daddy is going to be gone soon. It is so rude and heartless to say that you wish for his death and that you want tour dog to crap on his star. You probably don't even live in Hollywood, L.A., or California for that matter. You sound like some miserable bitter women from Kansas whose husband left her. You need to get over your personal issues and not project those onto other people.

      Bravery would be fighting your way out of bed to HELP SOMEONE or DO SOMETHING for the world. Going to your OWN celebration and party, yeah, big deal. Bravery would be killing yourself rather than draining resources to live another week or month.

      Cancer kills people. We all have to die. You "marvel" at his strength? Why? you've never had chemo, you don't know what it feels like. I marvel that he didn't die a decade earlier. I marvel that more than one woman was stupid enough to marry and procreate with him. and hell yeah, if you smoke heavily and drink you do "deserve" cancer, duh! take yer lumps and cash in yer chips!
