Does Anybody Really Care About This Band???

| Filed under: Pete DohertyMusic Minute

Sources are saying that the Libertines, former musical crack haven for Pete Doherty, will reunite this summer for the first time in six years.

The band is said to be headlining the Reading and Leeds festival, raking in an estimated $2.3 million for the gig.

That's fine, except one little snag - Does anyone really thing Doperty can stay out of jail for that long??? Or at least stay awake long enough to perform???

the title of the post is how many feel about you mario

  2. 2

I think he'll stay awake long enough, he needs the money

    Check Out GenerationGossip.com

  3. 3

Would be awesome if they could get it together. Not for 2.3 M though. Sorry they aren't Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Tubby.

  4. 4

They made some great music. I'm listening to them right now actually. LOL.

  5. 5

I fucking love this band! Of course people care, Libertines were way better than Babyshambles.

  6. 6

Yes, Perez. I know it's hard for you to comprehend, but some of us like actual bands that put on shows featuring *gasp* musicians, playing instruments, instead of fifteen costume changes and choreographed dancing. So yes. A lot of people care about this band, and would be happy to see them reunite.

  7. 7

Perez you really are a fucking moron.

'Sources say' It was confirmed 3 hours ago when they announced the Reading/Leeds lineup.

Does anybody care? Of course they do, The Libertines were/are a very important part of the British music scene and were credited as the revivalists of the Indie music scene in the mid 2000's.

The band split up a while ago and this is the first chance for many fans to see them all together.

For somebody who prolocaims to be some kind of music guru, you really are fucking clueless

  8. 8

Me! Im going to the festival this year , and i cant wait to see them , i just hope he can make it to the gig in one piece :)

A lot of people still care very much about this band, especially in the United Kingdom. They have a huge cult following there. It’s the reason why they were offered a ridiculous amount of money to headline these festivals. Check out their music. They are actually pretty good.

Re: whutwhut – one of the best comments ive read on this site.

  12. 12

You've clearly never heard any of their music. Pete Doherty is is incredibly talented and Music When The Lights Go Out is one of my all time favourite songs.

  13. 13

THE ARCADE FIRE are headlining, and the Libertines are the 2nd billing.

  14. 14

the libertines were one of the best bands in the last decade, so I guess there are at least a few people that give a f*** about pete and carl reuniting.
of course sir perez doesn't, because your definition of music begins with lady and ends with gaga.
and I happend to see pete this week. he didn't only show up, he even played a damn good gig, if not fully clean, at least fully awake!

  15. 15

Um, the Libertines were a huge part of that indie rock scene in their hay day.

"Part of what was described as the garage rock revival of that time, one of the aptly named 'The' bands and spearheading this movement in the UK" from Wiki. They spawned loads of crappier copycat bands so I'd say quite a lot of people care.

  16. 16

goog grief, the libertines are so much better than all the trashtastic bands you promote on this website. I tried to listen to that beth ditto chit this morning, tried to give it a chance, but it was just SHITTY. Libertines are awesome, Babyshambles approach their aweseomeness.
I do hope that Pete can pull it together. He reminds me sooooo much of my younger brother who passed away from alcoholism several years ago…

  17. 17

Sí, Perez, fuera del planeta "Gaga" hay vida inteligente.

  18. 18

    what about the babyshambles??

  19. 19

This is a really ignorant post. Have you ever heard any of their music, Perez??

  20. 20

You bastard! Of course people care about this band! And it wasn't Pete's crack haven. He actually got chucked out for his drug issues. If it is true that they are going to the festival, it is great, but I sadly feel that Pete may let them down somehow. With an arrest or a stoned disappearance or just being plain shit at the gig. The Libertines will always be the most amazing band to me though. Pete and Carl were a dreamteam, they were one of the greatest bromances too. The Libertines aren't that old a band, they are from a short time ago, and it was a special time because it was around the last few years when music was still worthwhile, and the right artists were getting air-play and recognition. They were MUSICIANS, and they were judged on their musical talents, their meaningful and cool lyrics and sweet melodies. When they broke up, it was death on the stairs.

actually everybody cares about them that is why they are performing at leeds. if they were that bad they wouldn't be playing. they probably have more fans than you, maybe you should take a look at yourself. everybody hates you. the libertines are fucking amazing, and far more talented than you will ever be. you just sit and blog all the time about what other people do. get a life bitch.
    COMMMMOOOONNNN LEEEDDDSS 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pete doherty we love you. drugs or no drugs.
love from eve, steph and hannah xxxx

  22. 22

    THE LIBERtines fucking rrock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. 23

babyshambles is great also but I am a huge libertines fan. Peter and carl are true artist. The media pick on this guy I have met him and hes got a real fan base and hes one of the most artistic sweet romantic and brilliant men u will EvER meet Hes humble also.

  24. 24

Wow I cant blv they are really reuiniting IM IN TEARS!!!!!! I wanna make love with peter ahhhhhhh

  25. 25

i was supposed to see carl open for glasvegas a while ago. unfortunatly carl did not make it to vancouver. Just the thought of the libertines playing again, gives hope that rock n roll is still alive.

  26. 26

I'm loving all these comments. Lol at Perez thinking nobody cares about the Libertines.

  27. 27

This is actually a good band perez. They write there own music….play instruments. sorry they aren't as cute as justin beber or whatever the hell he is….once again you have proven yourself a clueless moron…way to go fatty

  28. merez says – reply to this

cant wait will be great, unlike your face mario

  29. 29

This guy is beyond nasty, gross

  30. 30

You obviously know nothing about indie rock! There's a reason they are headlining!!!!

  31. ecid says – reply to this

so you never posted my first comment, mario. anyway cheers to everyone who commented on this post. you know whats good music and whats trash.

  32. 32

i'd be thrilled to see them!!! they're the real thing, perezito. i'm surprised you don't give them any credit. o_O here's to hoping Pete gets clean!!! good vibes and well wishes for him and the band.

  33. 33

  34. 34

You have no idea how many people care, Mario. Not everyone has the musical taste of a 16 year old as you do, being amazed by Gaga and the Jonas Brothers honey. There is more than that. England has the best music man.

  35. 35

U sure have some nerve questioning if he'll be awake long enough to perform after your precious GagGag's bout w/ "fatigue" last week. I've actually never seen Pete laying down on stage & quitting on his fans like that talentless tranny u love so much. Ohhhh that's right "fatigue" had nothing to do with it. Fuckin hypocrite.

  36. 36

The Libertines played for an HMV conference I was at shortly after Pete was out.
I'd say Carl and the boys in the band were and are better off without him and his bullshit.

  37. 37

This posting just further exemplifies your lack of music knowledge. You claim to have great taste in music, but most of the stuff you post is formulaic, highly unoriginal pop music. Don't get me wrong pop music is great in its own way. Its catchy and fun but the fact is its mostly disposable.

The Libertines were an essential part of the development of indie music, and to focus only on pete dohertys drug problems is not only caddy but ignorant. I know the man is mess but your dismissing musical talent based on personal issues.

  38. 38

I hope this happens. No matter how deep into insobriety Doherty descends, I am still the biggest fucking Libertines fan ever!!

  39. 39

you fat no nothing kiddie fiddler, the libertines were the greatest band of the last decade. focusing on petes drug addiction is so hilariously ignorant - it'd be like us saying that the reason we hate you is simply because you eat to many pies, when infact there's loads of things about you that makes me hate you. I've bought my ticket specifically to see The Libertines - that's a gig you know you'll remember for the rest of your life, it'll be historic. Go listen to some more Mika and die.

  40. 40

The Libertines were a pretty decent band Perez. I'd love it if they made a new album after headlining Reading.

  41. 41

I care. The Libertines are amazing.

  42. 42

Does anybody care about any band? Time for a revolution in music, new companies, new artists, new concert sites - 60 years of the same electric guitar base and drums, is enough. Post-bands music is coming. PH check it out.

  43. 43

Yeah, The Libertines are headlining the saturday of Reading festival.
Fucking pissed, because they are amazing, and all the little rich kid indie-begits at collage who got their daddies to buy their tickets for them are complaining because the line-up this year is apparently "too rocky" this year.
:| It's fucking Reading festival.. what do they actually expect. It is an AMAZING line-up.

  44. 44

OMFG! Best news I've had in years. Am booking my ticket as I'm writing this!

  45. 45

The Libertines are the single GREATEST band in the world, period!

  46. 46

a lot of people like the libertines

  47. 47

yay! im so excitied for them to be back!!!

  48. 48

i love the libertines but i know that a lot of people who read perez probably couldn't care less about that type of music, nor would they know who peter doherty was if it weren't for kate moss.

  49. 49

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! I wanna kill you. How can you say this. I bawled my eyes out when i found out they had renuited! So yes sosososososososo many people care. The libertines have gotta be the most influential band of this decade. They completely changed british music. Think about what you are about to say before you put your fingers on the keys you fucking KEYBOARD WARRIOR! Bastard.
