Independence Day Gets Sequels (Yes, Plural)

How many times can effing aliens attack the same planet??

Director Roland Emmerich is reportedly prepping for two sequels to the 1996 box office smash Independence Day, and Will Smith is attached to return!

Writer Dean Devlin is writing the script for the sci-fi explosion-fest, and as of now the films are set to be shot back to back in 2011.

We can't imagine this is going to work - the last two movies franchises shot back to back, Pirates of the Caribbean and The Matrix, were far less well-done than the originals!

Not to mention the aliens can't possibly attack on the fourth of July every year!! What the eff are they going to be called?? Arbour Day and Cinco de Mayo??

What do U think?? Are U excited for new Independence Day movies?

why can't these producers/directors/etc. just come up with something new…..everything's reinvented these days……

omg. all of Roland Emmerich's movies suck. He is too busy trying to fuck twinks in the hollywood hills then worrying about making a good movie.

  3. 3

Agree with you Perez, leave the shit alone already. Make new movies.

Sure, I'd watch a new Independence Day movie, although Viveca Fox has a few too many miles on her now.

How about a Mars Attacks sequel?

Good clean fun. If the aliens were drag queens Perez would be on this like Sliimy on a sibian.

Who watches this sh*t? I mean just how f*cking dumb do you have to be to consider this entertaining? People who enjoy this crap are the reason we have instructions on shampoo.

I loved Independence Day. I'd probably go see a sequel but I'd be surprised if it was as good as the original. Doesn't happen often but sometimes sequels are pretty well done. Kill Bill and The Bourne Identity (at least the 2nd one) are good examples

Seems to be that Will Smith's consecutive box office #1s is going to come to a close after these films. I suppose film writers and producers are getting a little lazy with all these sequels. Fresh ideas, please!

Seems like Willy has found another movie to make a sequel of ! Gimme a break !

I'd heard they were going to make a sequel in the late '90's called Memorial Day-about a vengeful attack from the original aliens-that seemed to be shelved. We all the loved the original and were waiting for THAT sequel that never happened. Is this finally it?
