Dallas Police May File Charges Against Erykah Badu

As we previously mentioned, Erykah Badu filmed a controversial music video for her single Window Seat where she stripped naked in and feigned being shot similar to the JFK assassination.

Now the Dallas police department may file charges again the singer for disorderly conduct.

      If this was some guy walking around in a historical section at a museum and decided to strip down to his birthday suit, what would people say? He was a pervert and he would be charged with indecent exposure and arrested for disorderly conduct. He would also be put on the sex offender registry list following his conviction and sentencing. She did not get a permit, she did not apply for permission for this kind of filming. She showed up during broad daylight at a historical monument where families and tourists go, and she did her thing. She should have been arrested on sight. Artist or no artist, she did not have permission to do that filming there.

      The other thing. I truly believe that is she was all that talented and her voice could carry her or her talent could carry her, she wouldn't need to be a shock jock to stand out. She could carry it herself. You don't see Barbara Streisand engaging in these unclassy acts do you? This is the behavior of no talent, no class.

      Just my opinion.

      Actually this artist has been around for quite some time and she is very talented. Just because you have never heard of her till now doesn't make her an attention whore. She has a beautiful voice and is a strong intelligent woman. And, oh my god! Oh no! Children saw a person's body! No wonder people have complexes about their bodies.

      One of the things I never understood is why , when someone is naked, everyone mentions THE KIDS! But it's not like she was fucking anybody infront of children. She was just nude. I think children should grow up to appreciate the beauty of the human body instead of feeling that it's a "shameful " or "icky" thing.

I mean if some creep came up and flashed your kid you would feel differently about it but because this is a celebrity trying to get attention people think it is ok.       Oh and I'm going to figure that most of the people who say it's ok to expose children to this are not parents. Trust me, a lot of your views change when you become a parent and you do things that you never thought you would. I'm not saying that children would see this as a sexual thing but they need to be exposed to things at an appropriate time. Oh and to the idiot who said that a boy who was traumatized by a naked woman would have to be gay…grow up! Children don't understand things the same way adults do. They can be traumatized by things they don't understand, even if they are natural.

      Re: bunchofidiots – I have to say I agree here. When we lived in Germany (my father was military) I used to go to the public pools and it was constant, the nudity. Big fat women walking around in bikini bottoms, no tops with hairy pits and legs. It was really gross and sickening to me. You cannot undo the images, and some people should stay clothed and out of sight! Just my personal opinion there. The problem becomes that a lot of people who don't have artistic bodies will want to strut naked because the artists do. Just look at some of the towns in Oregon and Washington. It was enough to give this little girl nightmares. IT truly was gross! Sorry Aussie, but I was a child when I saw a bunch of fat nasty hairy women and men walking around naked and it grossed me out.

Badu was expressing herself… In public in the same way racy billboard do, the same why rappers have women shakin it on videos, the same way lagaga kissed a woman on her video, and the same why some of these soap operats & sitcom shows show sex during the day and evening.       I can understand the contreversy behind the video in that it was filmed in a public area, without regard for the children who were there, and the effect that it would have on them. That said, I understand what she was trying to do, the point she was trying to make. Basically its about the assasination of artists ability to make good music (good being the key word here), and the exploitation of women (read nudity over talent) by the music industry in general. It's deep. I just think that perhaps it could've been expressed on a green screen. Even with all of this, the back-lash is just gonna make her enough money to pay for her legal defens. :-) Go Erykah.

      Although I think there is nothing wrong with children seeing a naked body in a non-sexual manner - that's me. For those who think differently there is a reasonable expectation that they will not have their children exposed to a nude woman while they're merely out and about. She should be fined.

      If nudity is so OK, then why are her "private parts" blurred in the video? Some on here think her public nudity is OK for children to have witnessed because her nakedness is natural and without sexual intent. I hate to break it to you, but sex is natural, too, so by your reasoning, it would be OK for people to engage in sex in public places where children might witness them. For me, I don't find her body attractive, and I would prefer not to see it, but she takes away my freedom of choice the moment she gets naked in front of me without warning or my consent. She forced herself on people who might have had a preference to not see her, thereby she violated their rights. If asking her to remain clothed is violating her rights, then why don't we all just strip and walk around naked? You might say her brief nudity was artistic expression, so I guess the streakers of the 70's could use the same argument. Those people got arrested, and so should she.

It was this artist in Mexico that took a starving dog from the streets and tied him up in his gallery for 3 hours and said it was a starving dog exhibit and apparently he fed the dog and then let it go back to the streets. So the only SAD part is that he had to go back out and starve on the streets.. :( But that would have been horrendous! The art part of it was getting an emotional rise from the people about the fear he was starving the dog. It spread like wild fire and I signed like 2 or 3 petitions so it seemed like it was totally REAL. phew
