Vampire Bill And Sookie Stackhouse Are Getting Animated!!

| Filed under: TV NewsTwilightAnna Paquin

It's becoming a franchise!

And unlike other lesser quality, vamp-tastic ca$h cows, it is actually good enough to DESERVE the popularity!

Fans of the hit TV show True Blood can now relax in between seasons, because they'll soon be able to read all about the non-sparkling vamps in graphic novels based on the Vampire Bill and Sookie Stackhouse variety hour!!

The comics will have all the characters from the show, but will follow separate stories!!

The show's creator, Alan Ball, says:

"I'm really looking forward to exploring this new format. Comics have no limitations, things that we could never do on the show because of time and budgetary constraints we can do in a comic. The writers of the show and I are closely involved in the creative aspects of the comic, plotting art stories, characters - they exist in the same world but it's a completely different story than what you will see on TV."

The comics are set to be available in early July!

What do U think?? Will U read True Blood graphic novels??

    Bitchy much?

  2. 2

No. Sadly, like most of your other site visitors, I am illiterate.

  3. 3

AHHH perez! Y did you have to point out Maryann….. that ruins it for everyone!!!
And these novels will probably suck….great.

  4. 4

I think i will become a comic fan!

  5. 5

Perez, you make it like True Blood is a new creation.
Do you not know or care to remember that this fabulous show is based on a series of novels?

"And unlike other lesser quality, vamp-tastic ca$h cows, it is actually good enough to DESERVE the popularity!"
If it wasn't for Twilight becoming so popular, shows like True Blood and the Vampire Diaries would have never been created. So you best start thanking Twilight, not bashing it.
And I'd rather finish reading Harris' series than waste dough and time on these graphic novels.

  7. 7

Yeah I'll read it if the artwork is well done and it's not too expensive, AND if they mail.

  8. 8

if it's better than those trashy and poorly written Harris novels, then I'll read it. Also, it has to maintain a level of intelligence/moral message as the show does.

It's sad that everyone overlooks Alan Ball's injections of themetic intelligence in True Blood - issues of drug use, (e)masculinity, gay/black rights, misogyny, misanthropy, religiosity… And other themes to show how f*****d up humanity really is.

I think they need to cash in on Sookie's bi-sexualness…

  10. 10

i F-ing LOVE LOVE LOVE sookie!!!

I disagree with the 6th commentor's view that without Twilight's popularity, True Blood wouldn't have existed. True Blood, the television series, premiered in September 2008, whereas the first Twilight movie was released in theatres in November 2008. But I do think that it's sort of strange to see Perez, who posts about everything Twilight and it's cast, would take a catty turn and suggest that he doesn't love the films. With that being said, I love True Blood, I've read all the Sookie Stackhouse novels, I love Harris' writing, and I'll definately get into the graphic novels. I'm sure they'll be just as fantastic as everything else that has to do with Sookie Stackhouse.

yes, i'll probably buy mine at the SD Comic Con.

  13. 13

seriously wtf? the show is based off a BOOK SERIES that hasnt even ended yet. as for alan ball, as much as i like him he is killing this series for me not only with anna paquins terrible acting but bc he keeps forgetting he didnt create the "true blood" world. go write your own shit and stop ruining Charlaine Harris'.

    Re: Mayapapaya1

True Blood came first, in books and on the screen.

  15. 15

"Animated" would mean it was going to be a cartoon, or more likely, an American-style "Anime" series.

Besides, you act like "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" aren't comics.

  16. 16

I agree with Mayapapaya1. The hype surrounding Twilight certainly has made vampires more attractive, and has allowed for different branches to do successful as well. As much as I like True Blood, I believe Twilight has a much stronger fanbase and "deserves" the success it has.

  17. 17

HEYYYY…. Don't knock twilght like that bitch.

Okay I agree True Blood is soo much better than the the Twilight movies, which are kinda over hyped (because frankly they aren't very good, mostly due to the script) but the books deserve all the hype.

  18. 18

Uhm what's your beef with Twilight lately. Leave your personal opinion out of shit, especially if you're just going to be hypocritical about it.

  19. 19

I fucking hate vampires …its so stupid.

Re: Mayapapaya1 – if you check the dates. The Sookie books came out in 2001. Show was in Sept. 08. Twilight was written in 2005 and the movie came out in Nov. 08. Twilight has nothing to do with the success of True Blood

  21. 21

    Maryann dies?
Thanks Perez. You've fucking just given a spoiler away to all the UK fans.

    Ta mate.

  22. 22

They can't just leave well enough alone?!?!?! The books are great and the show is amazing. However the show is loosely based off the books. Now there is going to be a comic that is very loosely based off both the books and the show? Come on!!!!! You money grubbing assholes. Don't ruin the franchise by doing this stupid shit.

  23. 23

does this mean the sex scenes are going to be animated to? lmao

  24. 24

Re: giveityourall7 – ummm true blood is an adult show, and it's on hbo. (not everyone gets hbo} Although Twilight has had a wide fan base it was created for YA.

  25. 25

Re: BretbyGoesDown – ahhh season two has been over with for how long? and the dvds are already out! he didn't ruin anything you are behind!

  26. 26

Re: MagicTurd.com – she is not bi. not in the show or in the books lol

  27. 27

Re: roguen – I totally agree. I bought all the books because I'm a huge fan of the show, but that's really thanks to the actor's talent, the amazing directing and certainly also Alan Ball's incredible writing. The books were a major letdown, very corny with a romance novel degree of depth.

  28. 28

comic books aren't "animated" you fucking retard

  29. 29

hey buckethead, you deal realized that comic books are not "animated" right?
