Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa wants to implement a plan to shut down the city for two days a week beginning on April 12 because of the budget crisis!
He says:
"There are no easy decisions or simple ways to solve this budget crisis. But as the CEO of this great city, it is my responsibility to make these difficult but necessary decisions to steer the city out of this crisis and onto solid financial ground."
The city is planning to hold emergency meetings to figure out how to replenish the general fund.

Listen, I'm very seriously thinking of moving to L.A. from Chicago this summer and I think it's a great idea. California is way in front of the curve on all fiscal realities that face every local government in the U.S.A. Chicago & Illinois are in total denial. When the stuff hits the fan here on the shores of Lake Michigan it's going to be ugly. The Chicago schools alone are $1 billion in the red. And all the elected Kings around here act like it's going to just go away and they'll never have to deal with it. I can't wait to get out.

I have an idea fat body. how about this. oust villaraigosa from office for driving this city into bankruptcy. then start with slashing salaries and pensions for government officials. there's no reason why these sleezy bastard should be able to afford living in hancock park off of my tax money! what a joke this city and country has become.
legalize pot
1) Get rid of most of the 13 deputy mayors that you have, (13 being the most any mayor has ever had).
2) Get rid of the bullet proof Suburban you are driven around in.
3) Cut your security detail in half.
4) Start laying off some of your staff members, seeing that you want to cut upwards of 3000 positions, none of which affect your staff.
5) FORCE the DWP to turn over that $75 mil, rather than allow them to give their employees up to an 11% raise, like was done last year.
6) Stop fooling around with news reporters, unattractive ones at that, and focus on the city.
7) Stop going to events you have no business at ie. the Grammy's and Oscars, and again focus on the city.
That's it for now….
oh. and teach your kids some manners, especially that son of yours.

California is suffering from unfunded pension liabilities $500B!, changes in tax revenue, credit ratings, debt as a percentage of Gross State Product, debt per capita, growth expectations for employment and the state economy, net migrations and a “moocher ratio” that compares government employees, pension burdens and Medicaid enrollees to private-sector employment.
Maybe California should look to Gov. Chris Christie in New Jersey because the rest of the country is.

This is what happens when you have an entitlement society and are a sanctuary city for all illegal immigrants. I feel very sorry for the taxpayers of California. They are not the only ones who are struggling with this issue, New Jersey is almost in the same boat.

This mayor is a b.s. artist like any other politician. You wanna rein in the budget, take a look at some of the expenditure and benefits packages these senior administrators get. Take a look at the salaries of L.A. City Council members. But don't put L.A. under a microscope. I live in Riverside County and it's the same corrupt story. And it's the same story with our dear friends and assembly members in Sacramento. Everyone who's 18 and over on here should get their asses out the house and VOTE in EVERY ELECTION. How in the hell do you shut down a city? Really someone explain this to me. And as far as the comment someone from Chicago made about moving to CA this summer saying that Chicago and Illinois are in denial well I am from the Chicago area and I don't see the city or the State for that matter any worst off then any other State at this point and time. All the States are suffering and beleive me when I say other States are in worst shape then Illinois. As far as the school budget goes are schools could use more funding but I don't think this State takes our education as serious as some other States otherwords it is not their top priority which is sad for our young people here. Illinois needs to put money into our schools instead of the pockets of politicians that would make a big differance. How many States can say that they have had several governors go to prison? What's that tell you about where the money has gone thru the years? Illinois has or had the resourses but screwed the State and the young children of our future by lining their pockets.
Well, I think the CELEBRITIES should PAY DEBTS and TAXES! If L.A. is to be shut down, then there will be more crimes and does the Mayor thought about this situation? If the celebrities actually care about the people, then they would donate some money to help out. What have celebrities contribute to this budget crisis? NOTHING! If it wasn't for us supporting them, I believe they would not have been where they are right now. Celebrities are spending millions and millions on themselves and on unnecessary things! A good example would be the live television charity even for Haiti. Why does it always have to be us working people donating to help? (Exclude those celebrities who actually helped out: Sandra Bullock, Gisele Bunchin etc)Why can't celebrities do that? They make 100 times more than us and they would be appearing on television with large diamond accessories. Ask yourself why?
