Where's Your Loyalty To Team Coco, Weinberg???

| Filed under: Jay LenoConan O'Brien

Can't trust anybody these days, can you Conan O'Brien?

Max Weinberg, Conan's longtime bandleader, is said to be uninterested in following his ginger-headed boss into the unknown and instead, is considering an open position at NBC.

Sources suggest that Max is looking to take over the bandleader postion on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, once Kevin Eubanks finally leaves the show!

Though neither reps for Leno, O'Brien or Weinberg are saying anything about it, it should be noted that Max's name is nowhere near the list of performers joining Conan on his summer tour, starting this month, nor did NBC deny the rumor when asked about it. "No comment" to us pretty much means "yes, but we're not ready to tell you that yet"!

Ah, this should be interesting. Just when you thought the mudslinging was over, a fresh batch is coming your way, Jay! Should have found a way to just keep Kevin! He's got class!

Maybe he doesn't feel like moving or going on tour. Big deal.

  2. 2

    A couple things to consider:

    - Conan's deal with Fox is rumored to be close to being announced, and this could be a stunt by Max's people to get himself more money from Fox if he signs onto the new show.
    - Conan doesn't really need Max as much since Andy is back and has said he will follow Conan to whatever the next TV gig is. When Andy left Late Night Max was important for Conan to interact with.
If, however, this is true, Max deserves a giant [ASS] stamp on his head.

Why does he have to be "loyal." Max has to make a living and is doing best for his family. Conan was his boss, not his brother!

  4. 4

Conan was always kind of a dick to Max, I'm not surprised.

  5. 5

Max always struck me as kinda shady

    Hey Perez,

How cool are you? Apparently cool enough cash NBC's checks! Hey, when is the next pop-up advertisement for NBC's spring lineup going to appear on your page?

You're like a teenage misanthrope who hates big business but smokes a pack a day of camel cigarettes, pounds Frito-Lay, and drives his mom's Audi to the anarchist workshop.

You think that you actually have morals, but, fail to realize that you profit from the misfortune of others.

    Oink Oink fatso.

max is a huge douche nozzle.
he's really not a very good drummer at all. everything he plays sounds the same… boom, crash, boom repeat.. way too stiff and no feel.
he's a good drummer for the E Street band.
he doesn't offer anything to conans show. he's not a naturally funny guy at all.
seems like maxs' ego is out of control…. there is an interesting story on the web about him and this situation.
he's a big Ahole just looking to have his ego fed.
he and leno deserve each other.
    go back to jersey,max….

Ok, who in the hell came up with CoCo as a nickname. I refuse to call a grown ass man CoCo. Conan is not as funny as Jay…get over and move on!

  9. 9

Hey fat boy…he has a real job..As Bruce Springsteen's drummer!!!

  10. 10

geez, if true it seems like a pretty cheap shot on Max's part.

  11. 11

    i like max. hate conan.

  12. 12

unbelievable. i will NEVER go to a bruce springsteen concert again…as bad as a man leaving his wife after 20 years of marriage, when she built his career…beyond disappointing

Work is work. How much thought did Conan give Weinberg before he decided to pull the plus on everyone over one half hour? Team Weinberg. He's gotta do what he's gotta do for HIS musical career, not for Conan's career. Conan was well paid regardless. Was Max?

  14. 14

So what? Who cares? I could never stand him when he was on Conan! He's SO annoying!!!!!!! Good fucking riddance!

  15. 15

Re: bbbeeewww – What the hell are you talking about? Conan O'Brien didn't make Max Weinberg's career. He is famous for being in the E Street band. Also what has Bruce Springsteen got to do with it?

  16. 16

Calm down, people. This has all the veracity of anything else that appears on this site. That means truth…and this obviously isn't true. No way would Max work for that big-chinned d-bag.

And whoever back there said Jay was funnier than Conan? Not only is Jay not as funny as Conan, he's not as funny as Weinberg. In fact, he's not funny period. Just a lying, disingenuous, self-promoting, money-hoarding, kiss-ass of a d-bag.

Max is reportedly on tour with his own new big band during the same time as Conan's tour…so, what do you make of the fact he is not on tour with conan: NOTHING!
practically everything swirling around the Conan story, from day 1, that had anything to do with NBC was false…what is different here?
NBC said Conan would agree with the time change, etc., etc., etc.,…, now Max is going back to NBC…in NBC's dreams.
