Slash Thinks Axl Rose Is Effing Phenomenal!
That's a pretty big compliment coming from someone in such a famously feuding pair!
Slash has come out with nothing but good things to say about former Guns N' Roses bandmate Axl Rose and the band's 2008 album Chinese Democracy.
He says of the record:
"It was the perfect Axl record. It was exactly what I would have expected from the final years of us working together, and seeing where he was headed musically. It's very heavy, sort of a dark, depressing record. He's fucking phenomenal."
Wow! When asked if a reconciliation was on the horizon he didn't seem very optimistic though. Slash explains:
"I'm more stand-offish because I know how vehemently he hates me. So that sort of makes me doubt it. But if we ran into each other and all that animosity were to pass for a second, then I'm sure we could have an interesting conversation."
Oh, definitely! We'd love to listen in on that one!

Personally, I've never been an Axl fan-and anyone who makes their wife,..a wife that was a Victoria's Secret Model- take a shit in a cat litter box has some serious issues.
There will be a reunion at some point.
Slash has always said never, and this statement opens the door the at least the possibility of it happening.
This is the sort of reasonable, honest talk that you don't really expect of celebrities. How refreshing.
I agree, it was a much better album than I expected it to be. Axl may be sorta nuts, but you can't clock him on his abilities as a musician.

It would be so great if they got past their differences and got the band back together again. There's soooo much crap on the radio and these guys are so talented. Queensryche, Metalica (although they shot themselves in the foot by pissing all over their fans), Poison (tell me you don't actually always sing "every Rose has It's Thorn" every time you hear it!), and Guns and Roses (again, tell me you don't sing along to "Sweet Child O' Mine" everytime you hear it). You can't deny those guys had voices that would blow away every male singer today. Although I was supremely young when this bands were taking it to the bank, my sister was dating someone 7 years older than me. I thank you, Patrick, for introducing me to Power Ballads.
Slash likes to paint himself pretty for the public and make himself look good. Axl is WAYYY more honest and sincere. I've met them both and they are both great guys, legendary people and talented artists. Slash was a bitch to Axl back in the day and he has a lot to make up for. If they ever get back together it will actually be by AXL's generosity, and not Slash's. But I do hope it happens.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who LOVED "Chinese Democracy"- it wasn't a Guns N' Roses album, but it was a fantastic rock epic either way. Loved, loved, loved it. I wish people would give it a chance, because there are some startlingly good songs in there.
Oh and I'd LOVE to see a Guns N' Roses reunion. Hopefully they can put stuff behind them and get the ol' group back together (and also Buckethead).
Re: giorgio85 – I agree! I loved reading his (Slash's) autobiography. Awesome stuff. And to me, they are BOTH phenominal.
Axl is a talented man, but he's also his own worst enemy! "Guns N' Roses" are only a frontman with hired hands now, not the real GUNS if Duff and Slash aren't there. (Kind of like a classic Motown act that MIGHT have one original member still there.) And through the middle years, when trying to replace Steven and Izzy, they realized those two musicians had a feel for the music that wasn't so simple to substitute. Axl's self involvement took it's toll on the group, with all the concert delays costing them A LOT of money on the road when Mr. Rose didn't think enough of the audience and his own bandmates to get his prima donna ass onstage by showtime. Chinese Democracy might be a good album, but it's really an Axl solo project, not a true Guns release. Think about this: it took The Beatles less time to record their ENTIRE CATALOGUE than it took Axl to finally get CD in stores! An interesting fact that's also undeniable.
MY GOD, if Slash came back…..WOWWWOWOWOOW. I really dont know what Axel was thinking when we got this little cocksucker guitar player he has in his band now. That guy is such a phoney, whatever his name is. He playes NOTHING like Slash, N O T H I N G!
If Slash rejoined GnR, Id DEFINITELY go see them.
I grew up listening to Guns N Roses and have been a fan since I was like, 5 years old. My parents listened to all the hair bands of the 80's
))) but GNR were by far my favorite. I would die a happy woman if Axl & Slash would put aside their differences and put on the best reunion on the planet. Nobody can sing like Axl, NOBODY ♥
