Dr. Drew Pinsky, an addiction specialist, has a devious plan to lure trainwreck Lindsay Lohan onto his show into a rehab facility.
It's pretty damn extreme! He suggests:
"If she were my daughter, I would pack her car full with illegal substances, send her on her way, call the police, and make sure she was arrested. I would make sure she was not allowed to get out of jail. I would then go to the judge and make sure she was ordered to a minimum of a three year sobriety program."
Did you write that all down Papa Lohan? Dr. Drew just handed you your next publicity stunt on a silver platter! You better have been listening!
Even though we think it's pretty extreme, Dr. Drew seems to think that will be the only way to get Lindsay the help she needs, since his has yet to recognize she has a problem. He explains:
"I would say it's less than a 1% chance of her making the decision to go to rehab. I have said this many times before, I believe that Lindsay will make a wonderful sober person, someday, if she survives this. I absolutely wish no harm to her, but I just have a feeling that something awful is going to happen to her, like she is going to lose a limb. I hope Lindsay gets help before something terrible happens."
We do too, but don't you think a person should want to help themselves first? Has it really come down to trickery?

This from a guy who put 2 people with a volatile past together in the same rehab/sober house because it makes drama for his TV show.
I don't really get all of this, because I haven't seen a photo of hard evidence of Lindsay using drugs…I guess I am a see it to believe it. Everything is speculation. From photos it is apparent that the girl looks like she needs some better friends around her…yes that is apparent. If she does have a drug substance problem I hope she finds help and takes Dr. Drew up on his offer to help her.

It wouldn't work anyway! With "celebrity justice" she would, as always, get a slap on the wrist. She is no longer a 'star', but she is a 'celebrity' for being a mess, and look at what she has ALREADY done and with very little consequence! The law SHOULD step in, my God, look at Pete Doherty or whatever his name is!! MULTIPLE run ins with the law over SERIOUS issues and these people never pay.
i have been sober for 3 months and NO ONE could have made me do it. everyone has their own rock bottom and lindsay has to hit hers. if she doesn't get sober on her own, it won't work and it won't last!
Oh Please, she could have 100 pounlds of coke and heroine in her car and the judges in Los Angeles would say "What? You used to be an actress?! Oh well in that case, you're on probation for one week and you have to make one public service announcement and you don't have to do the PSA if you give them an autograph.

research has shown that people who enter rehab voluntarily or involuntarily have similar success rates in the long run. sometimes people don't realize how badly they want or need to be clean until after the drugs are out of their system. and hey! you are talking about someone's life here. ANYTHING is worth a shot! how many people are going to be saying "we coulda…", "Woulda…", "Shoulda…" after she has died?
If you really cared about your psychological wellbeing more than getting an extension to your 15-minutes, would you trust someone who drums up publicity by badgering the psychologically frail with your very private issues? The fact that Dr. Drew publicly comments on the mental health of a person whose emotions are by most accounts fragile suggests he lacks the delicacy and general respect for people's very personal feelings necessary to make him a credible therapist. Not that professional treatment isn't sometimes a good idea, but the only thing that separates this guy from the other Z-tabloid bottom feeders is a medical degree.

Dr. Drew actually said this? Because what he is suggesting, framing someone by putting drugs in their car, is a felony.
I have a hard time stomaching any "therapist" who would put his clients treatment out for public viewing, even if they consent. He basically makes his living exploiting has-been celebs with addiction problems. His statement just underscores to me how unprofessional he really is.
Dr. Drew should STFU. What he is saying is just as irresponsible and extreme and illegal as what Michael Lohan proposes. First of all, he needs proof that she's using. Secondly, he of all people should know that behavioral issues are complex and can be for a variety of reasons. Sure, drugs may make it more extreme, but it isn't so simple as take away drugs and all is well. The public doesn't know what's wrong with Lindsay, drugs is the convenient reason given by most but must are uneducated and uninformed about causes of erratic behavior and this all roads lead to drugs is a cop-out, IMO.

Maybe the 3 year stint in a sobriety like rehab, but planting drugs on her is just kind of a stupid idea. Not to mention I'm pretty sure her parents wouldn't have to plant drugs on her. I'm sure has enough of her own. They just need to report it. I do agree with him when he says something horrible is eventually gonna happen to Lindsay if she continues to live this kind of lifestyle. She'll lose more than a limb. Overdoses or drug deals gone bad don't usually just take a limb. To bad he's talking to the wrong people. They are just as toxic to her recovery as some of those pills and dust she snorts.
Well, I would certainly hope that Dr. Drew is aware of the LEGAL IMPLICATIONS of planting an illegal substance on someone… NOT a good idea. If it's ever proven in court, any court-ordered rehab sentence made as a result of the illegal tampering would be considered null and void.
But he does have a very good point in that there MAY VERY WELL BE A CRISIS OR TRAGEDY that will finally get Lindsay into a program. With all of the pressure closing in around her, I'm betting she's internalizing a LOT of rage, and it's gonna burst in either a) self-destruction of some sort, or b) an "accident" - someone around her will get seriously injured, or worse.

no one in the throes of addiction have the where withall to "want" help. Dr Drew hit the nail on the head, get her arrested, let her sit there, and then push for a judge to order her into long term treatment. Better to have a furious daughter than a dead daughter. I believe this is her only hope. I don't understand her mother's lack of outrage and action…..God Bless her, may a Dr Drew enter her life soon….

I love what Nicolie said about Dr. Drew. he is a hottie. Anywho, I think it's about time someone did something for this poor girl. YES SHE NEEDS HELP but, there are too many people who are enabling her. That is why Lilo won't come to terms with her illness while she is around those people, and we ALL know who I'm referring to.
I think what Dr. Drew is proposing is illegal, and that is strange because after her probation it shouldn't be, but apparently whatever state she was arrested in is much different than Pennsylvania. I am not so sure it would work anyway. I just think there is a bit more to it than just drug addiction with Lindsay. I have a feeling she has a bit of a mental illness going on there too. I am not a psychiatrist by any means, but after seeing people have to come clean her house, and how she constantly has to be out every minute of the day I tend to wonder if she doesn't have a lot more going on than just drug addiction. I think she needs more than just Dr. Drew. I think she needs a good old mental institution for a good while, and this isn't to be mean or anything, but that girl can't ever sit still even when she was trying to be clean there when she first got out of rehab the last time. Perhaps it was her childhood, or perhaps it is genetic, but she is one messed up young lady. I am sad to say it, but I am sure she is suffering very deeply inside, and sometimes I have to say I feel very sorry for her. Other times, like those commercials she wants to sue that Linsday baby ad over I would just like to smack her one.

This is shocking behavior from a physician. Dr. Drew has crossed the line in order to get publicity and to flatter Perez. I would never trust a doctor who behaves in this way. Crass and unprofessional. You should be ashamed of yourselves, Perez, and DD, very very tacky and intrusive. This is not the way to go about caring for someone.

I hope this was taken out of context, if this is true I lost all respect I had for Dr. Drew. I am a widow of an alcoholic so understand what can happen, but getting someone help by doing something illegal like planting drugs on someone is NOT the way it is done. Dr. Drew, you should be ashamed at yourself for this clearly not good advice, in fact, very harmful and dangerous.
I'm so sorry that Lindsay has no one (especially her whore faming parents) in her life to take control and help this young woman out. It's really sad. I have actually liked her movies and think that she has talent. She needs encouragement, geniune love and guidance-hope she gets it before it's to late. Love u Lindsey take care girly!

That's entrapment. Nobody wants LL to die, he's fine to be concerned about her. But that isn't a good thing for parents to do, it's hard enough for young adults to clean up their lives, they don't need their parents planting things on them and having them arrested. Does Dr. Drew wonder if parents can abuse his latest advice?
Actually Perez, as a criminology major, I just want to point that that court-mandated rehab programs can be VERY successful but only if there is a long time period mandated. Sooo Dr. Drew makes a very good suggestion and Lindsay could benefit greatly from mandated rehab.

If she gets there; which is what I think Drew's referring to, and it definitely IS a concern for her. She's chasing down the wrong avenues to feel better. Those avenues always make a person feel worse if you have an addictive personality. She has to realize it.
