Should Suri Still Be Using A Bottle?

| Filed under: Tom CruiseKatie HolmesSuri Cruise

Suri Cruise's 4th birthday is next week, and the HBIC was spotted as recently as last Friday with a bottle!

Pediatricians generally recommend parents to quit it with the bottle around 9 months, stating dental issues can appear as a consequence of continuing to use a baby bottle.

It's time for Tom and Katie to ween Suri off the bottle, no?

Maybe a sippy cup instead?

She's reaching elementary school age!

She is too old to still be on the bottle. What's wrong with her parents a sippy cup would definitely be a better option.

  2. 2

ummmm shut the hell up, my kid's 4th bday is on May 4th and he still takes a bottle at night, it's soothing to them.

  3. 3

that's ridiculous! parents are just begging for trouble letting their kids do whatever they want. of course most celebs don't even take care of their kids 90% of the time anyway.

  4. 4

Trash.. Her parents should be ashamed of themselves!!

  5. 5

Ur over 30 and sucking the tit of every celeb u mock on this site.

She's drinking that barley-sugar-water mix that Scientologists believe they should feed their kids. L. Ron insisted that the drink is what Roman soldiers drank and that it has tons of nutrients in it for the kiddies. The problem is, it's got a lot of sugar in it, which is why a lot of the children don't wish to stop drinking it. Leah Remini stated that her own daughter drank the solution from a bottle until she was, like, 5 or something.

  7. 7

yeah uh, shes a bit big for bottles. but her hair is super cute!

  8. 8

ever country but the US says that its normal to breast feed your child until the age of 4. You should never cause a child to stop the bottle of binki or anything before they themselves are ready. If you do it causes them to be anal retentive later in life. So, I love you perez but BAD post

  9. 9

Get rid of the bottle and let the kid walk on her own.

  10. SeeMe says – reply to this

Should you be reporting on children? NO! Leave the children alone!

  11. rici says – reply to this

the fact that she wears heels and makeup when combined with the baby bottle is a bit much…

  12. 12

She's definitely too old. I can understand not being able to stop it right at the recommended age but she's 4! This kid is going to have so many issues because of her parents.

  13. 13

I think I heard once that the general rule of when to wean the child off the bottle was that once the child reaches the point where they can ASK for a bottle, they should be taken off the bottle.

  14. 14

every child is different, lots of kids keep a bottle until they are 3 or so. it's not a big deal.

  15. 15

I think parents who give their child a bottle at 4 years old are lazy. Don't u read the american academy of pediatrics site for tooth decay in children??? A 4 year old doesn't need to be weaned…..they need their spineless parents to remove it and find them something else to "soothe" them. THey just don't want to hear their kids whine and cry.

  16. 16

It could be worse Katie could still be nursing her.

  17. 17

it really isn't up to anyone besides Katie and Suri. At that age, bottles represent comfort… I can only imagine what it's like for a 4 yr old to be haunted by the paps everywhere she goes. If she wants a bottle, let her have it.

  18. 18

  19. 19

Lay off, man. If you don't have kids of your own, tread with caution. This is unfair, different things work for different kids and still having a bottle at 4 (as my daughter did) is hardly child abuse. By the way - my daughter has perfect teeth. Perez - if you ever have kids of your own, you will regret the dreadful way you judge the children of celebrities.

  20. 20

I cannot believe she is still using a bottle!! My kids stopped before they were a year. They don't put a coat on her, let her wear high heels and she still uses a bottle! What the F***?

  21. 21

Get her off that bottle and give her a cup! And Perez, it's 'wean'. Not 'ween'.

  22. 22

HBIC =Head Bitch In Charge??? who the fuck would write that fucking shit to a child. grow the fuck up assholes.

  23. 23

they baby that kid way too much.. not even Zuma takes a bottles still.. shes going to mess up her teeth if she keeps this up

  24. 24

Good point, Perez, because once you're no longer a baby, you can NEVER drink from a bottle again. Not even as an adult. Weird, isn't it? But I guess that's the law!

  25. 25

  26. 26

OH.MYGOD. There is NO WAY she should still be on a bottle, or be carried around like a baby either. SHE'S NOT AN INFANT. Bottles are for infants who can't eat and chew food for their nutrition!

  27. 27

Pediatricians recommend that children come off bottles no later than 1 year of age. The pediatric dental association says that after the age of 3 pacifiers and bottles damage the way baby teeth form and grow in. Taking anything sugary in through a bottle cause the teeth to have severe decay!!! There are sound PROVEN medical reasons why you should not have a bottle at the age of 4 or a pacifier. My youngest daughter is 3 and she has already moved past sippy cups and drinks from a regular small cup. I think that is fairly normal considering it is on the 3 year check up check list.

  28. 28

Re: Karlitosway – a child should not be using a bottle at night as it rots their teeth, thats coming from a dentist too, it may be soothing, but the damage your doing to his teeth is worse.

  29. 29

Considering how your Mom and Dad let you suck cock all your life, you can't give advice on parenting.

  30. 30

Re: Karlitosway – That's really going to affect his teeth. Do you brush his teeth after his bottle? There's no good reason for a 4 year old to be using a bottle.

  31. 31

Actually… If the worry is funky teeth, then people should stop bottle feeding when baby teeth start to grow in at around 6-9 months… But they don't and most people have fine teeth. You don't have to worry about weening off the bottle or the pacifier until the permanent teeth start coming in. It should be when the child is ready.

  32. SV says – reply to this

That little girl is too old to be using a bottle she's 4 it's time for the bottle to be over!!!!

  33. 33

Re: stinamichele – Motion from breast feeding and bottle feeding are very different. Ask a pediatrician. Breast feeding past that time is fine but sadly a lot of people put things like apple juice in bottles and let kids walk around sucking on it all day- it rots their teeth out. I have never had a pediatrician say to stop breast feeding -they encourage it greatly. To suck from a bottle you have a different grasp with the mouth and it causes the teeth to basically grow straight out.

  34. 34

    Scientology kills!
    Remember Lisa McPherson

  35. 35

and to have a binky or bottle at that age and not wanting to give it up are anxiety issues, but what else would you expect when most of these celebs have their nannies raise their kids.

  36. 36

4 years of age is a little too old for a bottle. They should generally start to get off of it at age 2-3. Every child is different, but I think its a little odd. They should probably get her off in the next year or so.

  37. 37

    she is too cute.
    but i definitely agree.
if i was HER, i'd be fucking P-I-S-S-E-D at my parents for letting me have a baby bottle in PUBLIC! for all the world to see!
she'll see when she gets older

  38. 38

This is nobody's business but her parents. Some kids stay on the bottle longer than others. As long as they brush her teeth thoroughly morning and night, there is no damage that will happen to her teeth. Besides, I find it really hard to believe that all of you are THAT interested in the safety of Suri's enamel. This is really just another excuse for all of you, including Perez, to judge, judge, judge.

  39. 39

No she should'nt be on a bottle. It's some wierd scientology food. Lisa Remnie's baby did that too.

  40. 40

Trying to break an older kid of the bottle is tough! My son was on it till he was 2 and I will not be making the same mistake with my daughter

  41. 41

Lazy parents who will have no problem paying for the braces and dental work ahead of them.

  42. 42

I think she's too old also but sometimes, when a parent is going out with their child, it's easier to pack a drink in a bottle and throw it in a bag with a cover on it. Doesn't mean she gets a bottle all the time.

  43. 43

My daughter has downsyndrome AND LIKE ANY OTHER KID SHE GOT OFF THE BOTTLE ALITTLE AFTER SHE WAS ONE AND STARTED ON THE SIPPY CUP, WHY SURI OR OTHER KIDS ARE NOT DOING THE SAME THING IS BEYOND ME obviously its the parents … so all you mommys/daddys who think letting your kids drink bottles at 4+ your stupid and probably should have bought a dog instead of have a kid…

  44. 44

It really is a decision for the parents to make. However , personally I took away my sons bottle at age one.

  45. 45

Look at all the judges robes everyone is sporting. That looks like a sippy cup to me. Not a bottle.

  46. 46

She is WAY too old for a bottle. She's going to face severe dental work if they don't get her off of it now. My niece is 18months and the doctor told us months ago that she wanted her completely off the bottle and pacifier. which we did and she hasn't has one since.

  47. 47

Still being on the bottle or pacifier at the age of 4 or even 3 is bad because it can mess up your teeth!

  48. 48

What's wrong with her parents. Four is too old for a sippy cut, she should be drinking out of a cup. This is just laziness on their behalf. It's easier to let them do it than deal with taking it away.

  49. 49

she should be going to Elementary school in September 2011.. she should not be on a bottle anymore. my nieces were done before they were 1. and not even a sippy cup! although that is ok, your child should be using strawed cups! but what do you expect those creep scientologist believe different things! so im guessing when she turns 4 she will be getting her third condition! and maybe a braine probe or two!

  50. 50

That could be a sippy cup. She is too old for a bottle.

  51. 51

Re: Karlitosway – talk to your doctor and get that child off the bottle now!

  52. 52

These days I think people should under go some kind of phycological test or something before there allowed to have kids, thats why America is so FUCKED UP ANYMORE. U have shit like this, octomom, celebs that hire nannys to do the parenting that they are just to busy to do themselves, kids having kids, and people just st8 up neglecting them like there animals bc they the parents happen to be disgusting animals. Makes me worry for my daughter when shes grown and has to live with these other monkeys in a crazy zoo called life :/

  53. 53

I would say it is non of your dam business Perez!

  54. 54

If she were hanging on Katie's boob still some people would think she's a fucking hero…who really cares

  55. 55

What's the harm? I'd take a bottle myself if I felt like it.

  56. 56

Re: Karlitosway – I'm sure I'm going to get my head bitten off for saying this, but you and every other parent on here saying you let your kids have bottels after their frist birthday are LAZY!!! Bottels are not for comfort they are for nutrition.

  57. 57

Re: Scettico – I didn't know there are sippy cups with disposable liners. News to me!

  58. 58

My children are 1 and 2 and soon to be 2 and 3 yet they are still on the bottle. My son who is 1 uses pacificer and my daughter never used one.

  59. 59

Typical parents these days. They just go with what's easy and not what's best for kids. Look at all the brats who are there teens and twenties right not. Too many had friends instead of parents.

  60. 60

You shouldn't be posting about kids - this fascination with children in the media is creepy and weird.

How many times do we need to see Violet Afleck come out of school - we don't need to see it at all, it's plain wrong and unfair on these children.

  61. 61

Re: Karlitosway – I would not brag about that. Pulled the bottles from my kids mouth at 12 months. No debate or conversation. I did what was best for them. Same goes for the paci. When they were infants it was okay for simple pacification but that got yanked as well. Did they like my decision? Not the first couple of days but I am the parent and my word is the last word.

  62. 62

If that is what she feels comfortable with then why not. The media is getting way to intrusive with celebrities and their children, I cannot believe the coverage they give on these innocent children. Tom and Katie can raise their child like they want to and the media just needs to live them along and go report on some grown folks.

  63. 63

Suri is a weird kid. It probably doesn't help that they treat her like a toddler-royalty.

  64. 64

STFU, Perez. Everybody has an opinion about everyone else's parenting. Leave them alone and stick to reporting about how late Lindsay Lohan left the club this morning.

  65. Fosca says – reply to this

in comparison to the average population of children, babie whom use bottle after their 3rd year have a 35% more possibilities to develop learning, talking and/or reading problems

  66. 66

    It's a Playtex bottle with a liner.
Doesn't surprise me. They still carry her everywhere too.

  67. 67

Re: Karlitosway – really? obviously you do not do your research or have no doctor for that kid of yours. Sucking on a bottle while there teeth are developing are bad for their gums and for the way their teeth will grow…

  68. 68

If her parents think she's old enough to be wearing heals and make up then they should realize she is definitely too old for a bottle.

  69. 69

Normally, I'd tell you the STHU when it comes to parenting, BUT since we're talking about a parent letting a FOUR YEAR OLD have a bottle - and to the idiot who says "It's Soothing", your just giving in to not having a fight at night - go for it, Perez. Next up, rip into Gwen and that douche-rocker Gavin for bleaching their kids' heads.

  70. 70

    Spoiled much?

  71. 71

STFU i used mine till like 8 cuz there was no human power who could take it away from me its like normal its soothing and comforting

  72. 72

My little girl had a bottle at bedtime until she was 6. It had no effect whatsoever on her teeth (they are very white and straight). I think that it is a very comforting thing to some little kids to have a bottle every now and then!

  73. 73

I threw away all the bottles in my house when my son turned one. It's time for Tom and Katie to do the same.

  74. Kate says – reply to this

Redonk. My kids are 4 and don't even use a sippy cup… they use small child-sized cups. They don't need sippy cups or bottles at that age. That's just prolonging baby-hood and causing longterm psychological damage to the child. There's nothing I hate seeing more than seeing an almost school-aged child sucking a bottle or using a soother. Quit being lazy parents and realize what this is doing to your child's teeth. She's got her baby teeth and she's using a rubber nipple on that bottle. Glad they have good dental coverage!

  75. 75

Dentists will tell parents from early on, if you let your kid go to bed with a bottle (yes, including milk), the sugar from whatever they drink without brushing after will start cavities in their baby teeth. So for all of you bragging about your kids being soothed to sleep, I hope you have kickass dental coverage, and I hope you know the pain from cavities isn't going to be worth that "soothed" feeling.

  76. 76

Oh! They need to get her off the bottle a.s.a.p, or at least start weening her off! I've seen many children who've had their teeth capped because they cling to the bottle all the time…but I'm sure the Cruise's can afford excellent dental care!

  77. 77

Re: Bcikasa – I agree and did the same..Two days of whining at the most and then its over. At four you shouldn't be giving your child a bottle no matter how soothing it seems to be. They get over it.

  78. 78

  79. 79

I'm not a lazy mother but I want my kids to get off the bottle when he and she are ready. I wouldn't want to be forced into something I don't want to do!

  80. 80

WTF, first big ass kids in strollers now this….!. There fucking uo her teeth 2. Fuck soothing, I hate people who let their CHILDREN make executive decisions like the one above. 3. This kid wears heels…I rather see her w/ a fake wine class instead cuz that what they're teaching…

  81. 81

You need to stop posting shit about kids you sick fuck

  82. Kate says – reply to this

Re: NancyOttawa – That's what juice boxes and milk cartons are for. She's too old for a bottle or a sippy cup.

  83. 83

it is very crucial to ween children at the right time. freud would say that she will become orally fixated. so yes, she shouldnt be using a bottle still.

  84. 84

I think everyone should mind their business about telling other people how to raise their kids!!!

  85. Ros says – reply to this

That's not anyones problem but her parents……. Evryone should have the right to educate their kids….. STAY AWAY

  86. 86

you would probably still be breastfeeding had your milk not gone dry. Ew. So how fucked up are your kid's teeth? brown?

  87. 87

wow crazy. and not just a bottle, the baggy bottles.. we try to get the kids at my work off of those kind by age 1.

  88. 88

Re: wikitoria – thats because the brown teeth all fell out.

  89. 89

Re: KatieBremer – haha, good luck parenting!!! dont want to be forced to do something you dont want to do? are we in fantasyland?

  90. 90

There is no age to quit the bottle ! My daughter had hers until six - nothing wrong with that. She is a well-balanced person and very intelligent, so beat it !
For Suri I see much worse on pictures of her: She is forever eating sweets: candies, cupcakes, ice cream. Too much sugar means health problems eventually. Also that bottle should be glass and not plastic as plastic was reported in Time magazine last week to be harmful, especially to young children. Suri's parents may be wealthy but seem to be misinformed about health issues.

  91. 91

any child pass the age of 2 should NOT be on a bottle. it can cause them to end up BUCK TOOTH so those people who say there child is almost 4 or 5 and on the bottle. your dumb take your child off it.

  92. 92

Re: Karlitosway – you are an idiot

  93. 93

Re: gymkata – hehe. that is funny.

  94. 94

Re: KarlitoswayRe: Karlitosway – and did you knwo that bottles at night can rot your childs teeth? hes 4 put him on a sippy cup i work in a pre school and my two year olds can use big kid cups by now

  95. 95

    she's too old. period.

kids that age need to learn other methods of self-soothing. a blankie, a stuffed animal, whatever works. a bottle can wreak havoc on a young mouth, and it's really a parentally forced soothing method. I DO believe in self soothing for children, it's an invaluable skill, but it needs to be something other than a bottle.

  96. 96

She's not my kid i dont give a crap shit. I actually bought a baby bottle when i was like 7 or 8 just cause i felt like feeling like a baby lol

  97. chlyn says – reply to this

I see adults walking around all the time sucking sugary drinks through a straw.

  98. 98

That is just ridiculous!!!! At 4 they are old enough to use a regular cup. This is sooo bad for their teeth. If you have the money to fix their teeth I guess it's fine. It is proven that bottles after like age 2 causes tooth decay as well as an overbite!!

  99. 99

    Re: Lilygirl27 – so y r u here?

  100. 100

If u look at her bottle, its a playtex colic bottle. That means her daughter might be colickie.a lot of children can't drink their liquids cause of that problem.
