Perez - I love you very much but I'm not a fan of your headline! As an American living in Korea it is NOT K-pop that is inspired by Western pop - they've been doing it forever!! The color, the glam, the fashion - it's embedded in the fabric of Korea. If anything, Gaga and Beyonce are inspired by K-pop's flair! I know you love your wifey, but she's not the only trailblazer!

    hyori

  3. 3

    She's amaazzing:)

  4. 4

was that english or korean or a mixture or how bout just plain old bullshit……..

Re: sebenson – Agree with what you said, so much!

Clearly not, Perez, clearly not. Like Sebenson said, Korea has been doing it way way longer. They were not influence by your Gaga.

  6. 6

    A power no-talent.

  7. 7

getting so tired how u manage to link everything to gaga.. she isnt that unique either and is clearly inspired by other artists, get your face out ur ass ffs..

  8. 8

so if a female artist wears clothing and make up its gaga, fuck are u retarded. I am surprised in your twisted deformed head there was no female artists before this ga ga chick

Perez why don´t you get your head out of Gaga's ass. This girl is been out since 1998 with a group called Fin.K.L and as a solo artist since 2003. She is been doing this kind of music and videos since that, years before Gaga. Lee is probably the most famous Female singer in Korea since 1998.
To be honest she is closer to Kylie Minogue or Britney.

  10. 10

Its the other way around Perez. Dont be so ethnocentric

  11. 11

if BE and GAGA had a baby it would be AMBER ROSE
watch that girl driving in the truck so EPIC

  12. 12

ridiculous… a girl is nothing without her references.. now personally i love lady gaga, but she is just as guilty as the next… grace jones and roisin murphy. why dont you bring up that she is just copying their ideas?… all she ever does is steal ideas and make them her own… at this point in time, most things have been done, and the entertainment and fashion industry just keeps on recyling

  13. 13

Great job, very cool vibe. A lot of Gaga-esque stuff… Loved it.

  14. 14

Perez, you are an idiot. Your horse-faced "wifey" didn't invent flamboyance. GagMe has borrowed very heavily from other acts; her current image is one that she didn't create alone. I think it's safe to say that most of us are really tired of you being completely up her ass, and you crediting her with things that have nothing to do with her. Move on already. GagMe is a legend on in two minds: yours and hers.

  15. 15

I would say this is a mash up of Gaga and J Lo not Beowolf

  16. 16

I don't really care who came out first. This was totally hott sauce!

    17

i can`t see any ugly skank in this video, so clearly it has nothing to do with lady caca.

  18. 18

I'm sorry but I fail to see the similarities that make it "clearly" influenced by gaga, or beyonce. At all… Can you please explain?

  19. 19

    Re: sebenson
thank you . finally someone else says it. kpop and jpop have always been like this. the colors costumes the vidoes… the rest of the world is just starting to realize it and copy it

  20. 20

Um hello, Hyori has been around for years!!! I love gaga, beyonce not so much, but Hyori is in her own style,so don't try to compare her to anyone. I'm not even Korean, but I love K-music,fashion, and dramas. Lots of love to Hyori

    Re: sebenson
took the words right out of my mouth!
korea, asia in general have been ahead for years
i wish people would do some research before they made comments, the US has been copying are stuff since day one, lets just be real.
anyways perez i love that your spreading kpop

  23. 23

um some Korean singers ARE inspired by American singers wtf are you talking about? anyway this song isnt that great the old Hyori is better and original. but i guess every artist now wants to be "different"

  24. 24

Not EVERYTHING is inspired by American pop music…you really ARE ethnocentric.

  25. suryy says – reply to this

    25

    Re: sebenson – agree 100% !
i like gaga, but not everything is related to her, hyori has been this.. colorful always :)
    love her

  26. 26

Totally agreed. I couldn't have said it better. Lady Gaga is copying Korean and Japanese styles… Just because she popularized "the look" in America, it doesn't mean she is the original. Queen Hyori!! :)

  27. 27

the dance routine in 2:30 is kinda j.lo-ish lol

  28. 28

I'm a big fan of Lee Hyori and I do hate all these comparisons to Lady Gaga. Who is not original since her style has been going on for years by many artists such as Boy George, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Elton John, Marilyn Manson, etc.

But, I have to disagree with some of these comments. Yes, Hyori's been around a lot longer than Lady Gaga (not to mention, she was famous way before Lady Gaga), but this is a totally different style than what Hyori is known for. I seem to remember she said that for this album she was going to be making a big transformation from her usual style.

I will say that she is definitely not copying Gaga because this is more of a Hip-Hop album and the music video/song and fashion is Hip-Hop. Lady Gaga is pop. I think we all know that Hip-Hop and Pop are two totally different music genres.

    Anyway, I love Hyori, I love the song, and I'm 50/50 on the Music Video (;

  29. 29

    I agree with sebenson.
Lee Hyori was popular way earlier than Gaga…just unknown in the western world.

  30. 30

    lol IT WAS VERY GAGA

  31. 31

Hyori's always had style like this and all. Gaga's awesome but… Hyori especially, but kpop too, has been doing this waaayyy longer.

  32. 32

Even though Gaga is not the most original pop artist Lee Hyori isn't either, her previous band was a rip off of the spice girls and now she made a very poor mix of everything that sells western or asian, there are far better artists in Korea!

  33. 33

    She's hawt!

  34. 34

    Re: sebenson – *agrees*

  35. 35

Who cares about the GaGa comment, can we talk about how AWESOME this video is!

  36. 36

Gets your facts straight, Lee Hyori has been around for a long time and guess what the KPop scene has been like this for YEARS, way before Gaga came around and Beyonce went solo.

  37. 37

First she was sued by copying Britney and now this…

  38. 38

@sebenson wrong. certain scenes out of this video are close to straight rip-offs of gaga fashions. the incubator thing, the bus with the chain glasses, the ending scene with the picture of her on the tv looking exactly like gaga in paparazzi where she killed her bf.

watch a hyori lee video from a year ago and tell me she was anything like this before GaGa.

sorry, but you've got it all wrong. GaGa is the trailblazer here.

  39. 39

Re: MsNikkiLe – exactly! check it people!

  40. 40

its fine if hyori was doing something original but she is CLEARLY blatantly ripping off gaga, and its not surprise since she used to rip off EVERYONE
britney even sued her for stealing do somethin' and not just the song she stole the video too

hyori=copies anything that is big in the states

  41. 41

The last time this chick got inspired by America she got sued, and lost. What does that tell you?

  42. 42

    ummm…. what?
    that was just plain shit.

  43. 43

LOL Well. u have make more ppl notice abt lee hyori, thats a good thing

    she 's a great artsit

  44. 44

this is an awesome song,. i only see a few similarities in what shes wearing but nothing else,.

  45. 45

It's more like GaGa take the ”Asian-epic” style over. Not the Asians..

  46. 46

Perez, do'nt make mess with hyogangs.Hyori prepare for her album for almost two years and clearly…she's been playful with her costume eversince.Enough with one plagarism accusation.and i may say The Queen of Korean Music finally Returns!!!!btw, thanks for promoting HyoRi (jjang!)unnie.

  47. 47

    You people are so delusional.
Korean pop music is so heavily influenced by America it hurts.
I see a lot of people are describing this song as hip hop. um where do you people think hip hop orginated from?
It is also of no coincidence that a lot of the popular boy bands/groups in Korea (ex. Big Bang) imitate the African American way of speaking and dressing. Even their manager has admitted to this and it can be evidenced by how a good majority of korean top 40 involves artists randomly breaking into Hip Hop English throughout the song.
Hyori has been famous longer than Gaga but this look is really recent. She herself said that she was going to be making a drastic change to her image. Please compare a video of her 2 years ago to this one and if you can still tell me that she has always dressed like this it's because you are heavily in denial.

  48. 48

LOL how is Gaga influenced by asian fashion?
Most of her style is pretty risque (I regularly see her wearing nothing but a bra, panties, and fishnets) and seeing as how Asia is a very conservative place this claim makes no sense.
Lady Gaga gets her look from high fashion (which has always been about being innovative and daring), David Bowie, Grace Jones, Roision Murphy, etc.
There is a huge difference between the sterotypical "asian style" and the type of craziness that is characteristic of the Paris/Milan runways.
Asian style is more cosplay-ish while High fashion (and by extension Gaga) is more conceptual and all about the shock value.
Maybe you guys are confusing her with Gwen Stefani?

  49. 49

    Well I love all three…
I don't care if anyone agrees with me or not but you should really look at Lee Hyori's MV from the past. None of them were like the ones she has came out with recently. The ones before are more uppity and cute. Not to mention she was once the nation's "Fairy" (I'm not too sure what a Nation Fairy is, but it mostly deals with KPop females). It wasn't until Lady GaGa came into the game that she started to make her videos, appearance, lyrics more "out there." She may have been in the music industry longer than GaGa, but it wasn't until GaGa came along that she changed her look 180 degrees. I agree with Perez. In her recent MV she does give off a vibe of Lady GaGa.

Re: Cbabylv – OH MY GOSH!!!! I'm so sick and tired of seeing people use the fact that Lee Hyori came out earlier as an excuse. Yes, she came out a long time ago, but she didn't start to dress that way or use this concept until now. Her past music videos are proof of that. I can understand why people assume that she is copying Lady Gaga. It was just bad timing. I'm half white-half korean and I'm a fan of hers too, but seriously her coming out earlier is the lamest excuse ever. If anything, that fact that she came out earlier should mean that she should have been able to create a better concept on her own since she is so "experienced".

  51. 51

Re: Sylvia Love – I agree with you on pretty much everything. Especially about Hyori.
***On a side note for those who are not too familiar with Big Bang and the company they come from. YG Entertainment (out of ALL companies in Korea) is influenced the most by American style and music. They do A LOT of rap and hip hop and dress like them because the majority of the artists from that company came from the states and brought a bit of that with them. And a majority of THOSE artists are full on Korean American, not "FOB"s. I mean they speak english as well as the rest of us Americans and they grew with the American lifestyle. So it makes sense as to why Big Bang and others from that company are rapping and speaking and dressing like Americans or African Americans. It's kind of part of their life style, too. I still don't understand why Hyori is rapping though. Complete opposite of what she has done in the past.
