Hank Williams Wins The Pulitzer

Whomp-whomp, National Enquirer! Better luck next homewrecker!

One of this year's recipients of the Pulitzer Prize is iconic country western singer, Hank Williams. The late star receives the award posthumously, but will be given a special citation from the organization to recognize his "craftsmanship as a songwriter" and his "pivotal role in transforming country music into a major musical and cultural force".

Congrats, Hank! Well deserved!

No matter how I struggle and strive
Ill never get out of this world alive.

    Best line ever.

You do realize they give out several awards in many categories? Hank Williams receiving a posthumous award for his music would not preclude the National Enquirer from winning one for investigate journalism. Turns out the Enquirer didn't win, but it wasn't because Williams did.

Once they awarded a peace prize to Palestine terrorist Yasser Arafat, the peace prize lost all relevance.

    Thank you Vegan Val…
Still dumb to give it Hank Williams.
I still the the National Enquirer deserves it in their category..

He is totally deserving. Those who think he doesn't are obviously unfamilliar with his work, and just how huge his impact has been on both country and rock and roll. Or maybe you're too busy with Lady Gaga etc. to appreciate true talent.

Do you not realize that Hank Williams is probably one of the greatest influences on music… ever? The man has been covered by everyone from Coldplay to Tony Bennett to Buddy Guy. He was called "Hillbilly Shakespeare" for a reason. The man said so many things people couldn't say. To say that it is dumb to give him an award posthumously is ridiculous. Have respect for history.

He was the Kurt Cobain/John Lennon of his day. He conveyed pain when men weren't allowed to show such things. He was a fascinating person.

    I'll drink to that.
