I Love You, Phillip Morris Gets A Release Date!

Well this is a relief!

We were devastated to read last week that the Jim Carrey/Ewan McGregor gay comedy, I Love You Phillip Morris, was delayed indefinitely. Luckily, it seems that the indefinite part was only temporary, because today it was announced that the film will have a limited run starting July 30th, with an expanded release on August 6th!

GOOD!!

Now let's keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't get pushed back again in a few months!

Jim carrey has always been the same role in almost every movies he is in. I hope he doesn't act like a jack ass in this one. Ewan is just hot. Jim can be to if he is a little more serious

Sounds like a stupid movie concept. Maybe that's why the studios are shelving it. HIGHLY doubtful it's because the characters are gay. That's just moronic Perez. You stoop to a new low every day.

What is a Gay Comedy? Perez calls this a gay comedy. Its a comedy about a gay dude. perez thinks this is some massive conspiracy against the gay community. i just hope this movie doesn't suck. carrey doesn't have the best track record. while the situation for gays does suck, i think this has nothing to do with it. movies get held back all the time. i think that its safe to assume that, gay or straight, we'd all like to see jim carrey choke on some dong. if you wwant a gay movie, check out the new queer cinema, there are some great titles there.

Re: CumpasFilms – I agree that people are taking the supposed "gay politics" too far with this film. The company releasing it has some financial troubles, and when that happens, it's hard to promote & release one movie, let alone a handful like most other studios have to do at a given time. This one's just getting lost in the shuffle.

With that said, I think the film looks hilarious. From the people what brought us "Bad Santa" (a.k.a. the funniest, best Christmas movie since "A Christmas Story"? I'm in.
