More Deets From Kitty Kelley's Oprah Biography!
This book sounds SO juicy!
Apparently Oprah Winfrey exaggerated quite a bit about her impoverished upbringing in Mississippi, according to Kitty Kelley's new biography.
O's cousin Katherine Carr Esters says:
“Where Oprah got that nonsense about growing up in filth and roaches I have no idea. I’ve confronted her and asked, ‘why do you tell such lies?’ Oprah told me ‘that’s what people want to hear. The truth is boring.’”
Kelley also writes that there were rumors swirling about a relationship between Oprah and Diane Sawyer!
Employees at ABC said that the two of them had "giggly late-night phone cals" and Oprah send Diane extravagant gifts including giant bouquets of orchids and a one-carat diamond toe-ring!
Other sources described a time when Oprah paid an ex-boyfriend $50,000 to keep quiet about her gay brother and her own lesbian affairs! The book also said that she and her current partner Stedman Graham do not share a bedroom.
The other big secret is that Oprah still doesn't know who her father is! Her cousin told Kelley who he is, but made her promise not to publish the information until O's mother tells Oprah the truth!
As for Vernon Winfrey, the man who raised Oprah, he had some choice words for Oprah's bestie Gayle King calling her a "dirt hog" and "street heifer," blaming her for ruining his relationship with Oprah. He says of O:
“She may be admired by the world, but I know the truth. So does god and so does Oprah. Two of us remain ashamed."
Yikes! Is it possible that Oprah isn't the wonderful person we've come to know and love!

Everybody thinks they "know" Oprah. They "know" a persona. Period. Kelley's book may be a whole lot of fact. Kelley's book may be a whole lot of fiction. In the end, don't even think we commoners know anything about who the real Ms Winfrey is, and why should we?

I think this sounds like a total crock of shit. It got terrible reviews because all the juicy bits seem made up. She can barely site any sources for her information. She cites one number of sources in the beginning of the book and a different number of sources at the end. She is no author. She's just trying to cash in. Loser.
I dont think oprah is all that great tbh.. mind you I hate Barbara Walters, Leno, Letterman, Conan O'Brian, and someone should just put Rush Lameboy out of his misery… But if she did do all this stuff then congrats to her for being smart enough and ruthless enough to get to the top (something men do all the time with no regrets) … I also find it interesting that as her show was being cancelled and interest in her was waining all of a sudden this 'tell all' book comes out and suddenly she is very interesting… maybe she did secretly have something to do with its release and wants to "test the waters"
I don't understand why we should care. It's Oprah's life and whether everything is true or not is it any of our business or going to change who Oprah is today.
I enjoy watching her show and enjoy reading her magazine. I have an incredible amount of respect for her. She has become one of the most powerful people, women, and African American and for that she deserves respect. What goes on in her personal life is her business and is no concern of mine.

About 11 years ago Oprah had diamond earrings and she had them made into 10 friendship toe-rings for her and her friends… Oprah even wore hers on the cover of her magazine in 2000. I think this lady is reaching for people to buy her book so she can have a cushy life.

I don't know why Oprah is so popular or successful, tbh. I actually get tired of her ass-kissers deifying her; all we see is a carefully crafted image that doesn't really tell us about who she really is. Not that I really care who she really is; Oprah doesn't blip on my radar screen of life. So I'm gonna pass on a gossipy book about her the way I pass on everything about her.
Hmm. Well, over here in Europe we never bought any of that "goody goody image", but hey, I guess we're more down to earth anyways. I definately think she is gay, that's for sure. Let's hope the truth comes out so all of you Americanos can become a little more down to earth as well. No offence though.

This book just sounds ridiculous… Everyone knows Oprah is hot perfect, including Oprah. She has been open about a promiscuous past, and many other flaws. I want to know why do celeb's… owe us the public anything….. Who care's really what they do or have done in thier past??? Are we really that bored with our own lives these days? I had to comment on this, even though frankly I'm not an Oprah fan in particular - I've never even watched her show.
I'm multi-generational entertainment industry and have also worked in law-estate planning. So I've seen this kind of thing happen a number of times. Someone makes it big/becomes wealthy, and suddenly nearly everyone in their family, and their old friends, turn against them. I've been shocked to witness this, and see the types of resentment, lies, and actions such people take against the successful person. The successful person rarely ever "changes" in a negative sense due to attaining success and wealth, as is so often claimed; but it's the family/friends who change.
This is why we so often find that after achieving success/wealth, many people do eventually separate themselves from their family and old friends. They probably didn't want to, but ended up having no choice.
I would hope this stuff isn't true. And I would find it hard to believe that Oprah would let her get by with this.

Don't care either way about Oprah, but the best way to spot a liar is by listening to their claims to know "the Truth". Nobody knows the Truth about another person, and Oprah is plenty powerful/rich enough to generate gossip, generate headlines, and generate book sales. It's all a crock on both sides of the issue.
