Joan is HOT but theres no way in hell i will ever give up meat, sorry Joan

  2. 2

Well, cutting meat out of your diet will only help lose weight, it could make you sick and protein insufficient….good job peta

  3. 3

Fuck off. I'll become a vegetarian when lions stop eating gazelles.

    Read: NEVER.

Why do you think Vegetarians need so many supplements and vitamins???? Fuck

  4. 4

    Meat is delicious.

  5. 5

I want to become a vegetarian, but I gotta work on my self control first.

  6. 6

Re: jellotime91 – I've been a vegetarian for years now. I take no supplements and vitamins, and am perfectly healthy. There are other ways to get the protein you need.

  7. 7

yea im gonna go eat my organic chicken strips now.

  8. 8

You know, I would stop eating meat if it wasn't so damn delicious. Human need meat. There is a reason why those vegans need to take all those blasted supplements. No thanks. I'll do it the way of my forefathers and their forefathers: kill it, cook it, and eat it. Peta: people for the eating of tasty animals.

  9. 9

If you know how to eat properly, vegetarianism is incredibly healthy. 15 years and counting. Blood work always great and I don't take any supplements. Joan rocks!

Listen here super Dyke, I don't tell you how to dress, where to get tattoos or who to sleep with. So don't tell me what to eat. I love a good steak, pink in the middle cooked over some Kingsford mesquite coals topped with A1 bold and spicey. You want to stop greenhouse gases, then eat more steak. It is not killing if your not wasting. Personally, I think we ought to feed all the vegitarians to the Starving Lions and Heyenas in Africa. There is nothing less hypocritical then a starving Lion.

One other thing, Plants releases Oxygen, you eat all the plants, you destroy the planet.

  12. 12

Im not 100% vegetarian, but I do practice vegan raw foodism. The largest source of protein is found in green leafy vegetables, kale, spanich, collard greens. Your body will go through some sort of detox (harliqueen), but that's just because it's adjusting itself and getting all the crap out of your colon. Find a farm that let's their animals roam freely and buy your organic/natural meats there. Or eat at Chipolte where they already did it for you. Vegetarians aren't always healthy either(my ex-roommate). Just find what's good for you. I'm not perfect but I add Spirulina, maca, chlorella, chia and fax seeds to my diet, to make sure my colon stays clean and I have 1-3 bowel movements per day. Good luck.

  13. 13

She is a hypocrite when she says she doesn't eat meat. Aren't vaginas made out of meat?

  14. 14

  15. 15

Vegetarians look great even when they get older!! Meat breaks down your body faster, and puts poisonous hormones and livestock drugs into your system. No one needs meat. Millions of people live much more healthy lives around the world and don't eat meat!!

  16. 16

Well another one loses my respect. Fuck Peta.

  17. 17

  18. PLO says – reply to this

I've actually been vegan for years and have never taken a supplement. Meat is far from being the only source of protein out there. There are actual sources of protein that come without the diseases meat causes.

Also, why are you people comparing yourselves to carnivores again? We are not. It's still not even sure that we are true omnivores. That's not the point however. We can live healthy lives without meat. That's a fact. Stop hating on us veg' because of your own ignorance.

  19. 19

Visa may like his steak, but he'll be in a wheelchair hooked up to oxygen and eating jello at an age when Joan Jett is still rocking! But hey Visas of the world destroy your hearts and shorten your stay! We don't need ya!!

  20. 20

That's great that she's a vegetarian and all, but why get PETA involved to put it out there?
Vegetarians can be healthy people - there are all sorts of other options for protein. My husband is veggie and is very healthy. Ever heard of quinoa? Probably not.

  21. 21

But meat tastes sooooooooooooooo good. Sorry I think humans are naturally made to eat meat or we wouldn't CRAVE the hell out of it. Or at least most of us.

  22. 22

I think PETA would be okay with it if the animals weren't treated so badly and if they didn't keep them in such disgusting surroundings. When you see thoses video YOU WOULD WANT TO BECOME VEGAN.

  23. Coqi says – reply to this

Oh yeah. I'm like…totally convinced. I actually just threw out hundreds of dollars worth of meat from my freezer because of her insightful words.

  24. 24

yeah you can it's just called pescetarian. You eat seafood like fish but not meat

  25. 25

  26. Coqi says – reply to this

Re: Pretty Boys Are Forever – Exactly. Why does disagreement have to equal hate? No wonder this generation is so angry. If one person has an opinion which differs apparently it is considered "hating." How very sad.

  27. 27

Love it. I already knew what she stated, but most people have no clue…

  28. 28

did you know that your teeth are made to eat meat?

  29. PLO says – reply to this

    Re: Pretty Boys Are Forever

Actually, meat is pushed on us every day. Be it by commercials or other means.

Our ”agenda” as you call it is to save lives. You are pushing your ”agenda” by killing sentient beings. If anyone has more of an ”agenda”, it's definitely the meat eaters. I give information to people. I never force them. I have found that many of them are willing to change once they know the facts.

  30. Coqi says – reply to this

Re: PLO – Seriously - who is "hating" on you? Many of us simply don't agree. There are studies which support both sides of the issues. There are people who choose to support both sides of the issues.

  31. 31

LOl!! never ever will i give up Food !!!because eating chicken and meat is food!!! This commercial just makes me crave a nice BBQ…lol

  32. PLO says – reply to this

    Re: Coqi

I wasn't referring to all comments as hate. I do enjoy debates and different opinions. Some of these comments were hateful however. Let's not claim otherwise. Calling people names because of their beliefs is not a part of a proper discussion. If one needs to belittle others in order to make their point, that is when it becomes hate.

  33. 33

Finally an INTELLIGENT PETA ad. i am so sick of them showing ads with naked people. The nudeness trivializes animal cruelty. This is much more effective and Joan looks amazing!

  34. 34

I am a vegetarian and never looked or felt better. The meat industry is HORRIFIC and it took one minute of a video showing the torture and killings of animals for me to stop eating meat which I ate every day my whole life. Anyone that says they can't stop eating meat should watch www.meetyourmeat.com and i dare you to say that again after watching this video… If you dont give a shit about animals then fuck you!

  35. 35

Only dumb ass mindless people think you need meat. It's bullshit and its the meat industry telling you this bullshit. Some of the world's strongest and healthiest athlets are vegan or vegetarian so go do your research people…

  36. 36

I'll kick the meat habit when PETA kicks its hypocrisy and misogyny habits.

  37. 37

    good for her!!!!

  38. 38

  39. 39

Eat Meat! And lots of it. Re: lopezfanyeah – K, yah. Have you looked at good ol Joan. Sucken cheeks already starting. Pure white. Meat gives us iron in its most natural form. She's also far far to skinny. You can't live off plants alone.

  40. 40

By the way, factory farming in general (including the way produce is grown) and the meat industry in particular are very destructive to the environment. While there are some definite bonuses in being able to produce abundant crops, we keep abusing the land in the process. You don't even want to know how animals raised in factory farm conditions are treated.

Actually, you do want to know and you should know. Things haven't changed that much since Upton Sinclair's day, except for there being slightly less immigrant carcass in your cans of Spam these days. So be a vegetarian or vegan out of compassion for animals, or for health, or environmental concerns, or for all those reasons, but don't become a vegetarian or vegan because PETA says you'll suddenly become thin and beautiful and desired and beatified.

PETA, by the way, has no problem destroying pets entrusted to their care. Rather than supporting no kill shelters, they prefer instead to spend the donations they receive to degrade women in slick PR campaigns and destroy healthy, adoptable animals behind closed doors. Then they dispose of those animals bodies in some random dumpster. Yeah, PETA talks a good game, but that's all it is, a game.

  41. 41

Quotes from the mouth of Ingrid Newkirk:
-“Even if animal tests produced a cure for AIDS, we’d be against it.” Vogue magazine, September 1989
-“Our nonviolent tactics are not as effective. We ask nicely for years and get nothing. Someone makes a threat, and it works.” US News & World Report, April 2002
-“Pet ownership is an absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation.” Harper's, August 1988
-“We are complete press sluts.” The New Yorker, April 2003
-“Humans have grown like a cancer. We're the biggest blight on the face of the earth.” Washingtonian magazine, February 1990
-“I will be the last person to condemn ALF [the Animal Liberation Front]." The New York Daily News, December 1997 (Uhmmmm… excuse me bitch? ALF are straight up eco-terrorists and murderers!)

I could go on and on. Seriously, if you have some free time on your hands just google 'Ingrid Newkirk quotes'. The amount of people who buy into her whole 'I'm not crazy, everyone else is!' thing is completely ludicrous.

Her will stipulates that her feet will be made into umbrella stands, that her flesh will be made into "Newkirk Nuggets" then grilled on a barbecue, and that her skin will be made into human leather wallets.

Nice try Ingrid, but your fail at shocking me. I'll be first in line for one of those wallets.

  46. 46

you know what- I'm all for it as a personal choice… but when you have a 2 year old son and are on limited income, the best you can do is make an informed decision about where your food comes from.

PETA is a great organization, but at the same time, we are the top of the food chain and for a good reason. I'm all for organic food, but really? If animals weren't mean to be eaten, they would have evolved past us.

  47. 47

    LOVE IT!!!!
    vegetarians rock!!!

meat is addictive and thats why most people dont want to stop

    Go VEG!!!

  48. 48

and you know what, i love people who say its the 'meat industry' who governs your food intake… when in fact, it's been a part of the human diet since the beginning of humanity, when we used every piece of the meat for either food, shelter or clothing.

    educate yourselves before you comment.

    I heart Joan Jett.

  50. 50

That was better than watching the movie The Runaways. They didn't even show her talent in the movie. Sorry Joan I do eat meat. Not much meat, but when I do its organic, grassed raised meat.

  51. 51

for people thinking vegetarianism is unhealthy; ive been one for 7 years and ive never had a single health issue. infact im healthier than when i was when i ate meat. while i wont preach it, i do believe its a great lifestyle change and it's so good for your health if you go into it knowing what you're doing it.

Re: ananas13 – The food chain is a human invention. The food chain would not mean much if you were put in a cage with a lion. With that type of mentality, you just justified eating severely mentally retarded people. After all, they are below us..The fact is that we eat non human animals because we are specieists and we do not stop to think.

Also, we have not always eaten meat as a specie. Please read about it. If you look back, we were frugivores. Even today, there are tribes who have been vegan for thousands and thousands of years.

  53. 53

    and a smoker..

  54. 54

Re: georgyporgy – If you actually do it the way your forefathers did it kill the animal yourself, I'll accept your answer, but I doubt your kill all of your meat yourself, so you aren't actually doing it like your forefathers.

  55. 55

Re: YourLittleSpies – I have been a vegetarian for 10 years. I don't take or need any supplements either. Actually, none of the vegetarians or vegans I know do. I don't know where people get their information.

  56. 56

Re: Harliqueen – Hey genius, there's TONS of non-meat foods that are rich in protien. "Good job" not knowing your facts.

  57. 57

Re: Pretty Boys Are Forever – Actually, yes. I have been harassed countless times for my personal choice.
I decided when I became a vegetarian that it was a personal choice and I would never force my thoughts or opinions on anyone else. I saw the negative effect PETA had on people and I didn't want to give people the same negative feeling.
Countless people have questioned my choice when all I was doing was eating my vegetarian lunch. I don't mind if people want to ask questions, but that's not what I'm talking about. From classmates and co-workers to friends and family, people want to tell me why my lifestyle is stupid and why I should eat meat.

  59. 59

Yeah I think its clear this dyke cut "meat" out of her diet along time ago..I MADE A FUNNY

  60. 60

Doesn't perez & whoever else actually writes this blog now eat meat? But I guess this site has never had a problem with being hypocritical..

Anyhoo, I've been a vegetarian for over 21 years now (beat that hollywood trend followers!) and although I would NEVER change my own diet it still bugs me when "born again vegetarians" try to push their agendas on to other people. To me that's no different than all of you meat eaters telling me for years that I would die without eating meat or become sickly and unhealthy. This is one issue where people really need to do the research for themselves and make the choice that's best for them instead of mindlessly following what some celeb says.

What you eat is your own business.

  61. 61

    LOVE HER!!!!
    I'm vegetarian too!
There are tons of ways to get protein without eating meat.

  62. 62

PS. for anyone ignorant enough to still think that vegetarianism is unhealthy, please do your damn research! Vegetarians live an average of 7 years longer than people who eat meat, so chew on that.

  63. 63

    Re: Pretty Boys Are Forever
Then fuck you! ….I hope you get eaten one day…

  64. 64

Following public outrage over a 2007 PETA investigation of a kosher slaughterhouse in Uruguay, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel promised to phase out the cruel "shackle and hoist" slaughter method.
In "shackle and hoist," cattle are tripped while their legs are chained, and the animals are restrained upside down while their throats are cut. After the cut, the cattle are hoisted by one leg to bleed out while most of them are still conscious and able to feel pain. A new PETA undercover investigation of Frigorifico Las Piedras, the largest cattle slaughterhouse in Uruguay, reveals that "shackle and hoist" continues to be used to produce kosher meat that's exported to both the U.S. and Israel. The largest kosher meat company in the U.S., Alle Processing, gets much of its meat from Frigorifco Las Piedras.
Take a moment to send polite letters to kosher authorities urging them to fulfill the promise to end the use of this cruel method among all South American suppliers of kosher meat, and ask that they suspend business relationships with South American suppliers that use "shackle and hoist" until those suppliers implement a more humane slaughter method.
    Animals need your help today.

Thank you for your compassion and action in behalf of cows who suffer during "shackle and hoist" slaughter. www.meetyourmeat.com

  66. 66

Good for her. She's telling the truth. Meat is DEATH.

  67. 67

Ok i mean I can respect she wants to do that but as someone who does low carb and eats A LOT of meat ( as well as veggies) I dropped 70 lbs in 6 months after I had my daughter and my blood work is perfect. I am not hating on the Vegetarians and Vegans but don't hate on the meat eaters!

  68. 68

Re: PLO – Holy crap, are you serious?? You tried, and until this, almost succeeded in sounding intelligent, but this I could not ignore. The food chain is a human invention??? You cannot be that dense. Did people go out and tell the lions to eat the gazelles? Did they tell the bigger fish to eat the smaller fish? Stop the wolves from eating carrots and force them to eat the sheep instead? Have you ever actually read a book, looked at nature, reasearched anything at all? The food chain is, and has always been, in place by nature's design. It is the natural way of things. Some species eat other species, period. It is not a choice for them, they are not forced to do it, humans did not invent it, it has been around long before humans came on the scene. And to address your former comment, "I'm not sure that humans are even omnivores", yes, we are. All you need to do is research human physiology, gastronomy and dental design. We are designed to eat meat as well as vegetable matter. I do not care one way or the other about being a vegetarian.

  69. 69

Be whatever you want, we have that choice as human beings. But the simple facts are, our species started as, and are still designed to be, omnivores - meat and plants. Neither lifestyle is necessarily more or less healthy than the other. It's all a matter of how we handle and regulate our food intake. Just please don't make foolish statements in an attempt to justify your own lifestyle choices against another's.

  70. 70

Re: PLO – Oh, and BTW. Your "put someone in a cage with a lion" example would not negate the food chain theory, it would in fact validate it. Eat or be eaten.

And also, please give me one example of a tribe that is vegan, and has been for thousands and thousands of years? Please, just one example. It's great when people make statements they can't back up because it sounds good to say.

  71. 71

Re: archimmes – Same here, well - that and my husbands view of "Meat is Murder…Tasty, tasty Murder". It's hard to be vegetarian when your husband and kids love them some chicken.

  72. 72

Re: Visa – First thing I have to say is - there is this neat, fancy new thing called "grammar", you should try it!! Second - Are you implying that we shouldn't eat any plants since they create oxygen? You, my friend, are quite the moron.

  73. 73

Re: kleeow – So….because something is in the bible, it is right? I'm not saying eating meat is wrong, it is a personal choice and I am not saying anything negative about people who decide to eat it or not, but the bible isn't really a great thing to get any sort of information from. There are so many things wrong and contradictory in that book it isn't even funny, and that is because it has been rewritten by man SO many times and countless books and such have been removed. Again, not a really reliable source for anything.

  74. 74

Re: PLO – It's true that we are not carnivores (and thus the whole "lions eat gazelles" argument is silly, but humans are most definitely omnivores. Because plant cells have cell walls that are tough to break down, true herbivores have gut chambers designed for fermentation to aid in the digestion of cellulose. Humans have no such chamber. We have very generalized dentition, the hallmark of an opportunistic feeder/omnivore. We evolved to eat whatever was available, be it plant or animal.

  75. 75

I don't like PETA's all-or-nothing approach. How about encouraging people to eat less meat, alternative meats, or encouraging people to eat meat from a local source rather than eating meat from a distant factory farm? I've stopped eating beef and have started eating locally raised bison. It's more expensive, but it's much healthier for me and better for the environment. Bison are native to the Americas and have evolved to be able to graze in the winter, unlike cattle. Open grazing encourages new grass growth; it's actually good for the environment. Animals raised this way don't need to be pumped full of antibiotics because they aren't crammed together the way they are on cattle feed lots. Bison meat also has less fat and more protein than beef, but it tastes about the same.

  76. 76

    She's a VAG-atarian!!!

You know you're getting old when Joan Jett flaunts her…vegetarianism.

  78. 78

It's at least not obnoxious. But seriously, going green is not an incentive for me to go vegetarian. I love my meat.

  79. 79

Re: anttnoni – Uh oh! Ba-dum-bum *ching*

  80. 80

Joan still rocks. Factory farmed meat does suck. Pasture raised, grass fed, humanely raised animals are more nutritious. Say you can't afford it? Eat less and check out the chain Chipotle. Asian cuisine uses meat as a CONDIMENT, not a thing to be hanging off both sides of your plate. A proper size of animal protein is a pack of playing cards. You can be a vegetarian and be healthy…or not. You can have animal protein in your diet…or not. Start with moderation (like Michael Pollan says…eat food, not too much, mostly plants), exercise and be of good cheer.
