That Is NOT A Regular Cloud! OR A Tiger Woods Insult Plane!

Nope, those aren't clouds, folks!

Check out this shot of the last plane to leave from Heathrow before all incoming and outgoing flights were cancelled because of that sneaky smoke monster from Lost potentially dangerous ash in the air blowing south from an erupting volcano in Iceland!

Crazy!

Apparently this is the second time this month that the volcano has erupted, and it lives under the Eyjafjallajokull glacier!

All British airspace is closed until 6pm tonight, but most airlines are refusing to operate until tomorrow morning at the earliest.

Sucks! Better to be safe than sorry, though!

Everything is closed here in Denmark too!!

  2. 2

Here in Denmark everything is closed too…! :(

  3. 3

I'm from Iceland and this is so cool! Last time Eyjafjallajökull erupted it lasted for 2 years and right after, the volcano Katla erupted and it destructed many farm lands and brought death to many people and animals. Lets just hope that Katla will stay still, because I don't know what we will do if she will erupt…..

Dutch airports have been closed too since an hour and apparently France is closing all airports in the northern area aswell.

  9. 9

I hate to break it to you, but that IS a normal cloud. The ash clouds are very very high up, which that plane isnt. Idiot.

  10. 10

All UK airspace is closed until at least 6am tomorrow morning. i live a few miles from manchester airport, its very earie with nothing in the sky. looking forward to sunset tonight tho cos its meant to be beautiful

Rumor has it the wind is going to change, so all ashes will be blown back to Iceland. Dutch authorities have closed airspace an hour earlier than expected. Green Cross (governmental health service) has just delivered 1500 beds at Schiphol Airport to accomodate passengers tonight. Luckily my man returned from Milano this morning!

and we are worried about what man does to the environment….nature does over 1,000 times worse than what man can do and yet somehow the earth makes a miraculous recovery and has sustains itself throughout its history, and without the help of Al Gore.

  13. 13

Your English is crap, Mario. That title should read NOR a Tiger Woods insult plane. Someday you'll figure this out and deliver timely accurate "gossip" and stop regurgitating news from other sources….someday

  14. 14

"…Oh we're sorry, did you say CASH? We thought you said ASH" ;)

  15. 15

haha Erla Ósk, þessi frasi er alveg geðveikur.. you go girl :D

  16. 16

it was clearly the smoke monster just screwing with iceland and most of eastern europe :P

  17. 17

    so crazy lol

  18. 18

You're an idiot - that IS a cloud!
The ash isn't over London, dumbass. They're doing it as a precaution, because there may be ash. There is only visible ash in the very, very north of Scotland, from what I've been told. I have family up north and they've said you can't see it in Aberdeen, which is over 500 miles north of London. It's a beautiful, clear day in Edinburgh, so there's no way it's as far south as London. Idiot.
Re: oakieboy – Mario is an idiot, isn't he?

  19. 19

The inaccurate news on this site is getting horrible!
A few weeks ago you posted a picture of the WRONG world's smallest man, and never apologised for the inaccuracy. You posted a picture of a man from Nepal, when the man who actually died was from Mongolia. Idiot.

  20. 20

Oh, Perez, when you're going to pretend you're a news source, at least get your story straight. You make it sound like only the UK is affected by this, but all airports in a big part of Europe is closed by this shit.

  21. 21

    Boo frickin hoo.

  22. 22

Re: Anci – I live like 15 km from Eyjafjöllajökull en there´s nothing in the air here so I´m pretty sure it´s something else you´re feeling..

  23. 23

I´m from Iceland and I live in Hella that´s really close to Eyjafjallajökull and my father is going out with the rescue team right now to evacuate people from there farms!! There is flood :/

  24. 24

You really should check your facts before posting Perez (or whoever wrote this)

Like others have pointed out that plane is just flying through a regular cloud, also this volcano did NOT erupt earlier this month, it was another one that erupted late in March and that eruption ended just the days before this one started.

Funny thing is that the International Airport here in Iceland is NOT closed because the wind isn´t blowing in that direction.

  25. 25

I'm so worried about that. I'm going on my first trip in europe on may 6. So I'm really stress out !!!!!!!!!!!!

  26. 26

    LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ok…Now that I cried out a little, I feel a little bit better…hehe…

But seriously :everything is canceled..Only God knows when I come to London…What if that fucking volcano continues erupt its shiz next 2 years? hehe..I gotta try a train I think -only solution

  28. 28

yeah, it sucks. my friend is overseas right now. he's in the service and has been over there for months. today was the day he was supposed to come back.. but hes stuck. i feel so bad!!!!

When Mount St. Helen's erupted in 1980, I had a 1/2 inch of ash on my car every morning for several days, and I was living a province over in Canada at the time.

I read that the ash plume has risen upwards of over 50,000 feet, (tough for those under it to actually see it) and many cross continental aircraft like to fly around that altitude. The ash will come down either when it rains, or over time during extreme calm; and this volcano could keep on producing and producing. It's going to be carried over by the westerlies (winds that blow to the right in the northern hemisphere by the rotation of the earth) and will mostly affect the northern hemisphere.
