Kate Winslet Against Foie Gras!

Kate Winslet is putting her voice to good use by lending it to PETA and their crusade to stop production of foie gras.

In a new terrifying, but eye-opening undercover video, Kate narrates and explains the horrifying process many ducks and geese go through at foie gras farms.

It's really hard to watch, but important to see how terribly these animals are being treated as to understand why celebrities, like Kate, are asking people to stop eating foie gras.

Check out the video above.

Humans are worst than Animals , not to mention the riches that eat monkey brain wile the monkey is alive …. YOU TELL ME…

  2. 2

    Kate rocks!

  3. 3

Revolting behavior keeping animals that way. it's on every menu in France, though, which is really bad! It's on sale at every airport gift shop in france, like Maple Syrup would be in Canada. So terrible.

  4. 4

Thank you Kate for bringing attention to this issue. I think it's disgusting how cruelly some people treat animals. Although the animals may not be as smart or capable of rational thought as "humans" are, they do however feel the pain that is inflicted upon them. They are living breating creatures, and i don't think it's too much to ask that they are not tortured before being put to death.

  5. 5

PETA is an radical organization! People should ignore them and give their money and attention to other more reputable charities like the humane society.

  6. 6

People can be really cruel. :(

  7. 7

Yes it is cruel practice but what gets me with these celebs is that most people wouldn't even know what foie gras is, let alone be able to afford it. It's a worry in their rarified world. The same for the rain forests etc. I have enough stress wondering if we can pay our mortage with my husband losing his job - poor geese but lets get real here, there are more pressing worries on the majority of the populations doorsteps lately!

  8. 8

Thank you Kate, about time someone took up the defense of these poor animals. On the other hand, we eat beef, veal, chicken. Do you realize how those animals are put to death in slaugherhouses, think about it. Even fish die cruelly, out of water, they suffer before dying. We should leave animals alone and try to eat as little meat and fish as possible. And PLEASE LET'S NOT WEAR FUR COATS, DO YOU HEAR STUPID WOMEN WHO THINK THEY HAVE MADE IT JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE WEARING THE SKIN OF AN ANIMAL THAT WAS TORTURED !

  9. 9

Stupid americans! they dont seem to realize what they're doing everytime they put gas in their car, do they? Wanna talk about mistrating people (not even animals) and financing a corrupt system miss Kate?

  10. Ang M says – reply to this

    10

Foie Gras is soooo nasty. You don't need to be a veg like me to understand that keeping a bird in a tiny cage and force feeding them to purposely enlarge their liver, to the point where most of those birds DIE before they get to that point is just abominable.

  11. 11

THANK YOU KATE AND PEREZ!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's horrific, beyond disturbing and so ironically animalistic to treat hapless creatures that were born what they are born only to be fricking tortured once born so terribly cruelly! It just makes me want to blow those mother fuckers away with a sub-machine gun! God DAMNIT! Animal abusers need to be executed immediately!

  12. 12

Just like I said before humans are disgusting people whent they do this shit and allow it to happen. Its all for the mighty dollar SO PLEASE STOP BUYING these disgusting products and kick 'em where it hurts. In the corporate wallets I hate these damn corporations! Peta rocks. Thank G-D for Peta!

  13. 13

All those cultures that do this sick shit to to monkeys, etc they should be fucking thrown in the ocean and eaten by sharks…

  14. 14

Why? Horrible, those poor animals! Im so glad that most countries doesnt allow this. And im especially glad that sweden doesnt allow belgian blue's either!

  15. 15

@ DonnieTaint Yes, PETA can be a radical organization, but you have to admit that they do expose the extremely inhumate treatment that these animals endure. I'm so sick of hearing how "they're just animals, what about the poor humans" blah blah blah. Guess what, humans can speak for themselves. They can say if something's wrong or if they are treated poorly…animals don't have that luxury. We treat them as if they're put on this earth specifically to sustain us. Last I checked, wearing fur coats, carrying alligator or snakeskin bags & eating foie gras weren't necessary for the survival of the human race.

  16. 16

If you want to save animals, donate to the ASPCA or the Humane Society. Don't get me wrong, I don't dig on foie gras, but PETA tries to make things look different than they really are. These esophagus on these animals are lined with a hard cartilage, meaning this doesn't cause them pain. I'm not saying that force feeding them is right, but honestly, PETA is dangerous.

  17. 17

IM SO HAPPY SHE IS BRINGING THIS ISSUE OUT.. I SAW A DOCUMENTRY ONCE ON THIS AND I ALMOST DIED …. IM NOT A VEGITARIAN I DO LOVE ANIMALS BUT IM NOT HARDCORE AND TO ME THIS IS THE SADDEST THING IVE EVER SEEN THEY SAY THEY DONT HAVE EMOTION OR FEELING AND I REMEMBER SEEING THER FACES IN SO MUCH PAIN .. U CANT TELL ME THEY DONT HAVE FEELINGS I HOPE EVERYONE STANDS UP WITH KATE … THOSE POOR THINGS STAND IN THERE CAGES AND CANT MOVE WHILE FOOD IS SHOVED DOWN THERE THROAT SO MUCH THAT ITS POORING OUT OF THERE BEAKS… =*( THATS TO SAD I CANT BELIEVE THE FRENCH ENJOY THAT STUFF THATS DISGUSTING.

  18. 18

This type of "food" represents horrible torture and it's unnecessary to out diet. Go Kate!

  19. 19

Re: just say FUKK – Kate is English, not American. Now let's discuss who is stupid. You are for buying into the "American are stupid" stereotype so easily you throw it around without knowing what you are talking about or the facts.

  20. 20

    D:
    That's awful!! Poor duckies…

  21. JoeyW says – reply to this

    21

who cares, Foie Gras is TASTY :-)

  22. 22

How horrific…those poor things. I have never had foie gras and I will never have it. Who's terrible idea to do this was it in the first place - absolutely inexcusable.

  23. 23

As usual, Peta stages «undercover» videos to prove their point. Foie gras is never obtained in that matter. The farmers take care of their birds and DO NOT keep them in cages. Their run free, as anyone with a little intelligence and education knows.

  24. 24

Yeah, I know how the stuff is made so won't watch it. I'll never understand why people think that's ok.
It makes me cringe every time I watch an old Iron Chef episode and they use it.

  25. 25

I seriously don't understand how people can torture animals for a living. Like, what kind of person can do such a thing without feeling any emotion? There has got to be something wrong with these people.

  26. 26

It's revolting and disgusting. GO PETA AND GO KATE!

  27. 27

    So disgusting.
Re: DonnieTaint – You are wrong.

  28. 28

Re: curiousred – finally someone with knowledge that doesn't rely on PETA.

You know that famous barbaric seal clubbing photo/video? That was STAGED by PETA. If you haven't seen it, see what this organization that cares for animals so much is willing to do to animals to get media attention and a gory photo for their ads.

They use the money donated to HELP ANIMALS, to pay for the staging of animal cruelty acts and bail out arsonists.

People use those wonderful brains you have to do your own research into matters, not just rely on an ad by PETA - who would rather kill healthy and adoptable cats/dogs/horses etc because they believe domesticated animals should be ‘wild and free’ than find them loving homes.

Support animal welfare - like your local animal shelters, not these guys who will NOT use the money to help animals.

PeTA don't care about animals, they just hate HUMANS.

  29. 29

Oh boo hoo! Poor widdle duckies! I am going to go out and buy some foie gras today just to piss of the leftard Hollyweird starlet. Why are these leftard Hollyweirdos such idiots???????????????????????????????????????

  30. 30

so sad and gross. I will not be eating it, ever.

  31. ash,* says – reply to this

    31

    Re: BBYKuma
well said. i would also like to add that there are already many organizations out there giving a voice to those in poverty. why is it wrong for an organization to give a voice to animals? there's lots of fucked up stuff going on in the world right now and there will never be too many groups out there to raise awareness to all of these terrible issues.
oh and for those of you who don't give a shit about the animals because you're sooo busy being concerned about poverty and starvation, know this: every time you eat an animal you're are supporting world hunger. if you don't understand how these two are linked then look it up.

  32. 32

    this is TERRIBLE….

  33. ash,* says – reply to this

    33

    Re: Greatdane/ – i don't blame them for hating humans… we're awful.

  34. 34

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Kate!

  35. 35

Re: Ritsche – I laughed so hard at this. Since when is 15 most of all the countries?

  36. 36

I promise to never eat foie gras again - that was awful!

  37. 37

I'm sorry.. But I like foie gras far too much to give it up. Asking a french (especially a southern one) to stop eating foie gras is like asking a canadian to give up on marple syrup or an american on fast food.

I know I know, I'm a horrible person. Let it all out.

  38. 38

horrible and disgusting. when i went to France EVERYONE ate this. I was so repulsed by the fact that it was enlarge duck liver, I refused. I didn't know however that it was made SO inhumanly. How sad.

  39. 39

I've never eaten Foie Gras before and I certainly won't now, even if its included in a dish. Well done, Kate!

  40. 40

PETA doesn't stage videos–they don't have to. There's plenty of cruelty going on out there without making it up, unfortunately. So sad that some people are so lazy they'd rather believe cruelty is fabricated than to actually get off their butts and do something about it. How pathetic. Go, Kate!

  41. 41

Re: Ceecile – I'm Canadian, and trust me, maple syrup is not a dietary staple here. There's so few things you can put it on.

  42. 42

Re: curiousred – Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

  43. 43

    Thank you Kate and Perez!!

  44. 44

geez, the only inhumane thing here is the poor operation being shown, most people dont know jack shit about duck anatomy, fois gras ducks are supposed to be raised free range for 6-8 weeks so that their esophagus lining develops its toughness that it would in nature because they swallow large shaped foods and hold it there like snakes, they are not born into a cages for all their lives, they do not choke because their windpipe is located on their tongue, ive grown up raising ducks and they choke down large objects all the time, its part of their anatomy to be able to do so, stressing the animal is the last thing you want to do to produce good fois gras

they showed a bad operation that mistreats their animals, not all fois gras farms do

  45. 45

Another sensible solution that I read about is a farmer who allows his geese and ducks to roam on several acres and ponds on his property. He planted walnut and olive trees, two very fatty foods, and they are allowed to feed as they please on these, along with regular food. The walnuts and olives are pretty much snacks that the birds have access to. The farmer said that his birds do not produce the huge diseased livers that many are accustomed to, but rather they have traces of fat that is much healthier for people and the birds than the forcefed geese and ducks on farms such as the video. Just thought I'd chime in with another solution…

  46. 46

I never eat foie gras and make note when a restaurant has it on the menu. A note to never return.

  47. 47

Re: Ceecile – You are a horrible person and ignorant too. Not all Canadians eat maple syrup and not all Americans eat fast food. Get off the band wagon.

  48. Ang M says – reply to this

    48

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE MONEY OR SUPPORT TO PETA!!!! Take it from this vegetarian, they are just as bad. If you want to support animals, give to the ASPCA or another respectful organization like Farm Sanctuary (and I'm sure many others). I don't know why all these celebs jump on the PETA bandwagon. If that was me I would tell them where to go, seriously.

  49. 49

    Good for her!!!!
If more people actually woke up and watched some of these videos……what a difference we could make.

  50. 50

This is horrible enough but the worst cruely to animals is a video I saw where they trap dolphins in an enclosure and slaughter them right there in the water by smashing their heads in with clubs. The dolphins cry out in terror. Well, I guess it's par with the slaughter of the seals. All for profit. Consumer demand fuels cruelty for a lot of these poor souls.

  51. Manon says – reply to this

    51

I'm French, I eat foie gras because it is our culture and because I'm love it. Yes you can see the way they treat ducks awful, but it is not every time like that! I eat foie gras only one time on a year only on christmas, but you would you imagine a thanksgiving with out turkey? If you think in this way we should never eat meet because it is horrible to breed animals only to eat them!

  52. 52

It's not a real issue. If you want to eat foie gras, buy a quality one that comes from a private farm and not a factory as the animals are much better treated there. PETA might be powerful but there is no way people will stop eating foie gras as it is part of the French tradition and cultureso they should fight a battle they have chances to win.

  53. 53

What about KFC ? damn american, you're not better.
i eat whatever i want and F**k peta.

  54. 54

Re: DonnieTaintRe: BunnynessRe: curiousredRe: Greatdane/Re: SpenceMasta – YOU ARE ALL IGNORANT PEOPLE…DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE COMMENTING ON SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT….AND BEFORE YOU SAY ANYTHING BACK…I HAVE DONE MINE SO FUCK RIGHT OFF!

  55. 55

Well the conditions of most farm raised animals for food purposes is not the best, understand that most humans who eat Mcdonalds their whole life whill have a liver just like that after 30 or so years, also like one poster mentioned there are much more pressing matters than a duck liver in the world today. I eat meat, i wear fur, and honestly i do wonder what this stuff tastes like. Will i ever eat it? Probably not, but if they could regulate the ducks living conditions, not force feed them as much, and give them vet care, i would see nothing wrong with this process. Animals are for food people, thats why it's called a FOOD CHAIN!!

Meat eater, fur wearer, and PETA Hater…

  56. 56

It´s horrible!!!!!!! And at the same time….is so yummy…..what a tragedy! I think I cannot eat it anymore.

  57. 57

I'm sure that video is sad and everything, but who the hell cares about foie gras? You have to be rich to eat it and it's nasty. If she's really concerned about how animals are treated she should expose the treatment of animals normal people actually eat.

  58. 58

ALL ANIMALS RAISED FOR FOOD ARE ABUSED!! So sad :( i wish people would just stop torturing them, at least let them be free if you are going to kill them..

  59. 59

Humans suck! That poor Duck looks so miserable. Ruined my day. Good for Kate Winslet!

  60. 60

I will never trust an english woman to tell me what to eat.
It's hypocrite if you say no to foie gras say no to all the meat you eat everyday.
I will continue to eat a marvelous foie gras and I will wear fur as long as I eat meat.

  61. 61

humans are such terrible beings. for us to be able to do something like this to an animal in the name of unecessary food. it's just awful.

kudos to kate for doing this video. peta may not be the best organization out there but they really do manage to get the message across to people.

  62. 62

Not all animals that are raised for food are mistreated. Some are very well taken care of and live very happy lives, including some geese that are raised for foie gras. Learn about the source of your food, make the decision for yourself and allow everyone else to do the same.

  63. 63

Re: Effey203 – shut the fuck up. Like you dont eat butchered cows and chickens - and what about all the turkeys that get thrown around, hooked by their feet before they are killed for thanksgiving?? So sick of hypocrytical people like you.

Fois gras is delicious by the way - nothing beats it on a fresh bagette

  64. 64

    Re: curiousred
you are so ignorant, it hurts. of course that's the case. and obviously after these ducks and geese run around a giant meadow, unicorns run around and play tag with them.

idiot. these videos are what most factory farms are like. and believe it or not, factory farms outnumber home run farms by a landslide. this is how most animals are treated in the meat industry. get your head out of your ass you ignorant fuck.

  65. 65

Re: JoeyW – You're absolutely right ! J'ADORE LE FOIS GRAS ! I just ate some this evening ! and i also had frogs for dinner. of course, i had to remove their skin when they were alive, it's tastier.. it's like removing pants, il love it !
and i finished my dinner with snails boiled alive in water ! what a fantastic dinner !
i think i should do it every day. Maybe make my own foie gras.
    ENJOY YOUR MEAL !

  66. 66

AND BY THE WAY, THIS GOOSE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE GAGA !!!!

  67. 67

Re: guyParis – I hope you are cleansed with flame one day!!! May something really bad happen to you for your evilness….:D

  68. 68

I ate a lobster for lunch and I put it alive in the boilling water… It was delicious. I don't have time to spend here because I have to kill a rabbit for dinner…

  69. 69

Re: WeberGirl25 – YOUR LIVER WOULD TASTE EVEN BETTER, OR THE LIVER OF YOUR WHOLE FAMILY SPREAD NICELY ON A MANWHICH! mmmmm now you're talking!

  70. 70

Re: Ceecile – THEN JUST SHUT UP AND ENJOY YOUR GREEEEEAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZY FUCKING FOIE GRAS AND MAKE SURE AND THINK OF THE CHOKING FUCKING GOOSE THAT HAD A HORRIFIC LIFE JUST FOR YOUR ONE MEAL DELICATE, SCRUMDILLYICIOUS MEAL!!! MMMMMMMMMMMMM YUMMMERS SMOOOTH GOING DOWN HUH?! Wonder what you're coming back as in your next life? Just a thought.

  71. 71

Re: guyParis – OH BY THE WAY…THE GAGA JOKE? HAR DEEE HARRRRR HARRRRR!!! I'm grabbing my sides, that was really creative and a knee slapper!

  72. 72

I will make a genocide tonight killing millions of bacterias by taking a shower.

  73. 73

this is very heart breaking.. humans should try being an animal for one day and see how it feels when u are foced fed and stuck in a little cage that u cant even move ur arms or legs or anything.. this is so inhuman.

  74. 74

Re: Subrosa – I think you're one of the rare people they say are kind of born without a soul. It was on HBO, they were talking about the serial killer, "The Ice Man"…you remind me of what they said about certain humans that have no ability to feel sadness, fear or compassion. Whoa I wouldn't want to meet you in a dark alley, you scare me!

  75. 75

Re: Subrosa – Ewwwwwww creepy ta boot!

  76. 76

    Re: Ceecile

My ass it's like asking a Canadian to give up Maple Syrup.
. You can't even compare the two — you dumbass. Besides..get it right. Canadians love beer way more then Maple Syrup.

  77. 77

Because you are living in rainbow land where hamburgers and fried chickens come from trees…

It will hug the next cow I will see if you want and make sure that I'm very grateful for the steack.

  78. 78

But foie gras is so damn delicious!

Quite frankly just as there are organic farms which care about the environment versus mass-production farms which spray pesticides, there are animal farms which raise and treat their animals with care, and others which maintain the conditions in the video. You can taste the quality in the meat, poultry and foie gras when an animal is raised with care.

    Peta people are freakin nuts.

  79. 79

Uh…who even eats foie gras?!?! I have never had it cause it is pretty fucking sick how it is made. "Yea, I will have one duck liver that has been fattened by force feeding the duck corn, please." Gag me. The fact that this food is considered fancy or whatever makes me sick. People who eat this should probably be force fed my fist in their face. I eat meat so I am no holier than though Vegan or something, but there is right and wrong. There is a difference between killing an animal and torturing it then killing it. Know where your meat comes from. Watch Food, Inc to see the corruption of the food industry as a whole. We need to stand up and fight this. Not only for animals, but for us and our future generations.

  80. 80

[re=4940903]Re: Oh it's the sweetie with an axe to grind against geese! Aren't you a sweet little Georgian peach! So just because there's pain all around in the form of nuggets, burgers, leather etc…your logic is if there's pain, JUST ADD MORE, ANYTHING LESS WOULD BE HYPERCRITICAL HUH? Yeah unless something god awful happens to YOU! If you get run over by a mack truck for instance, and are paralyzed on a respirator…should we all just remind ourselves 'well there's a war going on and you know there's like 7 billion people on the planet…who gives a shit about you!'…. You're all high mighty on the food chain until something happens to you or let's just say you come face to face with a bear and you don't have a weapon! Who's a spineless ninny jackass then? Just remember Karma. You don't want to fuck with the shit.

  81. 81

i love foie and refuse to stop and eating it. Stop telling us what to not eat !

  82. 82

Thank you, Kate, for bringing more attention to this horrible cruelty. It needs to be banned everywhere! My heart aches for every animal that suffers.

  83. 83

I don't eat foi gras, isn't that shit a little pricey besides the fact?

  84. 84

Re: jayboi19 – stop eating it

  85. 85

WOWW!! Videos like this are really great!! and this is just another example of WONDERFUL and amazing Kate is!!! LOVE LOVE LOVES her!!

  86. 86

    Re: jayboi19

Yeh.. stop eating it you dumbass

  87. 87

fois gras is fucking delicious. can't they just put out a big bowl of treats for the geese and let them chow down? a goose will founder itself if left to it. why the need to force feed?

  88. 88

Hey I'm french and I do shamelessly love foie gras in every way possible.

I don't like those pictures either but I don't see anything worse than the way most animals are treated when they're bred to feed humans.

I mean, do you think the poor chikens that lay under grease at your nextdoor KFC or the beefs that fill your everyday big mac leave in gorgeous meadows and get to die with dignity ?

I find it hypocritical to stigmatise one type of food in particular : either you find the way animals are treated too disgusting and you become a veggie, or you choose to keep on eating meat.

And by the way, in the vast majority of the foie gras farms (mostly located in the south west of France) they let the ducks live "free" outdoor on grass during the day and keep them inside only at night, and certainly not in the conditions seen in these videos.

I just think that everyone should be able to make their own decision with the right amount and variety of information. Image is easily used as a powerful mean of manipulation of your minds.

  89. 89

Foie gras is POISON to the human body. It's the toilet bowl of the bird's body, so when people eat it, they eat toxins.

  90. rev3 says – reply to this

    90

they should put the producers of this "delicacy" in the same cages

  91. 91

Re: Elilan – Look up some information or videos of family farms who keep geese for this purpose. The geese are happy as can be and this feeding method does not hurt or harm the geese.

  92. 92

Good for Kate! As difficult as it may be to watch these videos, it really shows us what torture these poor animals are going through! I've never and won't consider eating Foie Gras!

  93. 93

I think this is great that Kate is sticking up for animal rights. However I find it odd that she would do advertising for Lancome Tresor. Since Lancome tests on animals. But I could be wrong, maybe they didn't test that specific product on animals, it's just that Lancome is notorious for animal testing.

  94. 94

Re: Ali4884 – First of all, just because you don't eat it, doesn't mean that others don't. It is common in France, especially.
Please realize it's hard to criticize this act so harshly, be so against it, and still eat other meat. Pigs, cows and chickens are treated just as badly, if not worse. Example: live pigs are dropped in boiling water to burn their skin off. Chickens are put in coops much like these ducks.
There is so much hypocrisy, and I guess if people make up these nice images in their head of how their food gets to their table, then it will continue.

  95. 95

Oh my god. I couldn't watch that whole video. I started to shake. Humans really are the worst creatures in the world.

  96. 96

I never understand the mentality of statements like "oh there is so much more terrible stuff going on in the world than to worry about this issue". Have we become so weak in our brain power that we are able to concentrate on only one subject/issue? In our integrity as a whole, we should all stand up against cruelty and greed. I did not watch this video as I am already aware of the disgusting ways in which these fowls are fattened up - YUCK! I do believe that PETA is a little bit more radical than myself, but I must thank the organization for making others aware of the cruelty of the slaughter industry.

  97. 97

Thank you for sharing this information. There are many good people out there who are learning & sharing the truth about disgusting, cruel Foie Gras.

  98. 98

Although at times I dont agree with peta, Id have to agree with this. I cant stand watching this. This is awful. Those ducks have tears in their eyes. This is awful

  99. 99

PLEASE PEREZ GIVE SOME OF YOUR MONEY TO SUPPORT PETA. I DO BUT DON'T MAKE MUCH…THIS ANIMAL TREATMENT IS TERRIBLE.
    PLEASE DONATE PEREZ! PLEASE!

  100. 100

Re: izazou – i'm sorry to say this but it is cruel to the animals and id ont think perez would have put this up on his page if it was FAKEEEE!!!
