B.I.G. Closure
Let's all let out a big sigh of relief because Notorious B.I.G.'s wrongful death suit has been dismissed and we can finally let him rest in peace!
It's been THIRTEEN YEARS since the late rapper was shot dead in Los Angeles at the age of 24. While his murder has never been solved, his mother, Voletta Wallace filed a suit against L.A. city officials and the LAPD in 2002, blaming them for her son's death. She won the case in March, 2006 and was awarded $1.1 million by U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper, however the ruling was overturned two months later when it it was revealed that the Wallaces had withheld information from the court.
After several hearings, federal court Judge Jacqueline Nguyen dismissed the lawsuit earlier this week, FINALLY ending this long ordeal.

Perez, I really appreciate you reporting on this, but please try to make it a little more clear…So the lawsuit by Ms. Wallace was thrown out or the appeal by the LAPD was thrown out?? Kinda confusing but I read the link and understand it. Good for the Biggie estate but i really wish that the murderer was really found and tried.

I agree that there will never be a better rapper, and I don't doubt that the LAPD is corrupt. I often believe that most police are. I am surprised that this suit was dismissed. I have to say that altogether I was quite shocked there wasn't more security on him as a whole as it was being how everything had recently happened to Tupac, but I guess they felt he was protected with his entire gang around. I can't even imagine what his mother must have gone through, and how she feels now either. One way or the other, at some point I hope some little creep comes forward and rats someone out on this. It is about time we know who did this.

I'm not glad it was dismissed. Why should it be, when no one has been brought to justice? Obviously there was significant evidence of foul play or the mother wouldn't have won the suit against LAPD in the first place. I am sure there was all kinda of arm-twisting and they were just looking for any shred of anything to get LAPD off the hook. I'm not a huge Biggie fan, never was. But to me, this just smells like the police getting away with whatever again… as usual.
