ABC Wants To Settle With Nicollette Out Of Court!

| Filed under: TV NewsNicollette SheridanLegal Matters

This sounds pretty shady to us!

ABC execs are reportedly willing to give Nicollette Sheridan what they're calling a "peace package" to sway her from going forward with her $20 million wrongful termination lawsuit against her Desperate Housewives boss, Marc Cherry!

Apparently, Sheridan's lawyers have made it clear that they will subpoena the cast and crew of the hit series to give evidence in favor of the actress if the case does go to court, and the network desperately does not want that to happen!

We wonder why! What are you guys afraid will come out if people have to testify under oath?

According to a source:

"Our legal team is working to get both sides together to see if they can help broker a compromise. This doesn't mean that anyone is going to hand Nicollette $20 million to drop her action and walk away but there are various incentives that might be put on the table."

What do U think?? Will Nicollette settle or is this only going to get uglier in court??

i hope she doesn't settle and goes ahead with it, this could get interesting.

  2. 2

Weird. They definitely seem to hide something. :\

  3. 3

Maybe she'll get her own show…

  4. 4

Unfortunately (and I say this b/c Marc Cherry creates great roles for women) I think Nicolette has a valid case. They need to pay her off and give her enough money so that she can retire if she wants to b/c you know that with all the ensuing drama nobody in Hollywood will want to touch her after this. She'll probably be blacklisted which is why no one else who has ever worked with Cherry has complained.

There are so few decent parts for women in Hollywood as it is, and at her age especially….Nicollette is taking a HUGE risk by bringing this case against Cherry. She's basically comitting career suicide by doing this so she really must have a very good case agasint Cherry. O/w she would not risk it.

  5. 5

Hmmm…I wonder what she has on them. Nah, if it is good she may go to court. All depends how much they offer to settle. Shady indeed.

  6. 6

Im glad she spoke out. There are sooo many victims like herself, males females pushed too hard or taken advantaged of, in and out of the biz in the worst way. So many people suffer in silence. I am one to believe Sue Bu is one under her management, and other various people/situations. Heck! I have my own! Glad Nic is doing whats right.

  7. 7

Marc Cherry is an ass. He's ruined his own show.
Hope Nicole gets LOTS of dough and an APOLOGY!

Re: poosie – You are so right. People get bullied every minute of every day in this world. People need to stand up for themselves!

  9. 9

If they offer her 10 million, she would be stupid “` not to take the $$ and run. But then again “““ after taxes “` She would only collect 6. Problem is ::: She'll make more in this lawsuit then most people make over a lifetime “` of work.. Kind of sad when you think about it.

  11. 11

ROFL just because they are wanting to settle out of court doesnt mean they are "hiding something"..If an entire cast/crew is subpoenaed it will just be a nuisance to everyone…They are too busy working to be concerned with subpoenas and courts dates coming from some bitter talentless skank thats crying that she got fired..Funny how she doesn't say anything about this until months and months after shes let go..Free press, and sadly possibly free money..

  12. 12

fuck mark cherry the show sucks now…….and i loved sheridan…make him go down!!!!1

Re: FATTIES need to purge – - She's worked in the industry her whole life, and reports are that she's always been very professional. No one has to take an alleged slap in the face from anyone after all she's been through to get where she is. She probably wouldn't and shouldn't want to work for or with anyone who wouldn't hire her because of this. I've always like her work.

  14. 14

Re: poosie – i agree with you..mark cherry is a diva and not in a good way

  15. 15

oh… they're hiding something for sure otherwise they wouldn't be proposing anything. i hope she follows through and doesn't settle. she would be setting an example for pervy jerks like douche-bag Cherry.

  16. 16

Various incentives? Hmm. . . free plastic surgery for the next ten years? Just sayin'

  17. 17

    Hmm.

  18. 18

NICOLLETTE IS ON TO SOMETHING, THAT BALD GOOFY-LOOKING MOTHERFUCKER LOOKS LIKE THE TYPE OF PRICK TO TALK SHIT BECAUSE HIS EGO IS THROUGH THE ROOF. THE ONLY REASON THE OTHER WIVES AREN'T SPEAKING UP IS BECAUSE THEY ARE STILL EMPLOYED, CAN'T TALK SHIT ABOUT YOUR BOSS. THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD BE REQUIRED TO IS UNDER OATH, SO LETS CUT A DEAL, RIGHT MARC?!

  19. 19

PS- FIGHT IT NICOLLETTE, DON'T SETTLE!! I WANT TO SEE WHAT WILL BE DISCOVERED FROM YOUR LAWSUIT!!

  20. 20

Go to court and get ugly. Please…….

  21. 21

If the law suit is really about what happened and NOT about money, then she should not settle. if it is about money and a loss of income, then by all means…settle.

    22

bring on the ugly! h-wood and network execs do not want the underbelly exposed. there's a lot more of this that goes on than anyone can imagine. totally team Nicollette on this one.

    23

If Nicolette is smart.. she'd stop where she is. Take the settlement and run. If she goes with the lawsuit, she will kiss her career goodbye as no producer in Hollywood will touch her.

  24. 24

I want it to get ugly in court

  25. 25

Go Nicollette! She's telling the truth. Once she left that show, I stopped watching it anyway. Her character was the best!

  26. 26

Settlement talks are standard procedure; merely an opportunity for both sides to learn what information the other has. If she's got a strong case, yeah, ABC will want it kept out of court/settlement terms confidential.

  27. 27

They will settle it for sure BEFORE embarrassing things come out for ABC.

  28. 28

I hope she rips him to pieces in court! this is going to be soooo much more entertaining than the latest seasons of DH.

  29. 29

why doesn't she just get job instead of trying to support herself by sue-ing someone?
The reason she's really not that famouse is because she's OLD AND her acting is pretty low… She reminds me of Pamela Anderson…… Famous for five minutes and in denial for the rest of the time…

  30. 30

If something did happen and she settles, I'll never watch anything with her in it again. She should do other women a favor and fight for what is right. You shouldn't be able to just buy someone off to keep things quiet.

  31. 31

Re: azulle – does not mean that they are hiding anything. supeonas for the WHOLE CAST AND CREW? Do you know how much money that will cost ABC? It will screw up their filming, they will be paying the crew whether they are in court or not. It could take months if she brings everyone into court and THAT COULD COST ABC MILLIONS. They will probably offer her a few million to make her go away, unfortunately. BUT, ABC can make it work their way, that they are doing it because of the cost of interupting their filming. AND NO ONE WILL EVER HIRE THE BITCH AGAIN. BOO HOO

  32. 32

And IF she was slapped, that is a big if. I don't think it is worth $20 million. I think she should be paying him, because she deserved it. anyway, who says anyone saw it or is going to tell the truth in court. (oh yeah, like everyone tells the truth in court)

  33. 33

I think she should take a few million in settlement….because she'll never work again.

  34. 34

    Settling=it's true.

  35. 35

She will settle and so will they. She is one smart cookie and did not begin this lawsuit on a wing and a prayer. She has hard evidence and remember those girls are all close. They would all be drug into court and the public would see through the BS and the show would be over. SETTLE! Save the jobs, lord knows there are too few people working now.

  36. 36

Settling out of court does not admit or imply guilt. It is a strategic move often utilized by large companies (like ABC) hoping to avoid the publicity, cost and inconvenience of a trial. It is really irresponsible for you to imply that they have "something to hide" when you clearly have no evidence to support that claim.

  37. 37

perez you're an idiot. The whole point of having a lawyer on either side is to stay out of court. it's ALWAYS cheaper on both sides, them wanting to stay out of court doesn't make them shady or guilty, it means they don't want to spend millions of dollars just because this bitch is crazy and needs a payday.

  38. 38

hope she goes to court abc sounds like their scared now! Juicy

  39. 39

She's a high riding bitch. She ain't walking away from anything. Ga Ga Ga Goooooo Girl.

  40. 40

Uhm, how is it "shady" to settle out of court? You are a douche.

  41. 41

MARC CHERRY and his ego need someone to pull him down a notch or two.

  42. 42

It is starting to sound like there may be some truth to her claim after all. Why would you offer to pay anything if you have done nothing wrong?

  43. 43

SOMETHING HAPPENED and she has proof

    44

    love nicollette!

  45. 45

Guilty people don't settle. Way to go Nicollette. You'll always have a fan here!!!!!

  46. 46

I would sentence Marc Cherry to a month on Dancing with The Stars…….that would deflate his ego.

  47. @v@ says – reply to this

    47

She doesn't need to go all the way to court to be anybody else's Joan of Arc. If she decides to settle, then it's because it's enough for her to feel vindicated. She's still proven her point about how someone on a job site ought to be treated, and she'll bag some earnings she perhaps should have had otherwise.

  48. 48

i don't really care about why they want to settle out of court. although, good job ghost writers of perezhilton.com in trying to make a big deal out of something that's probably nothing. most of the time these kinds of cases don't go to court because it's easier for everyone involved to settle out of court. that being said.. giving edie the boot on this show was the best thing i ever saw happen. edie was a great character, but she didn't have the on screen chemistry with the cast that the rest of them have with each other and that lack of chemistry makes a character seem awkward. i feel like the character was never able to be developed to her full potential because of a lack of chemistry. it's best she left. it means nicolette can move on and do better things with her career without this show holding her back.
