More Volcano Dramz!

Uh, oh!

Scientists are worried that the Eyjafjallajokull volcano tremors in Iceland could set off the nearby Katla volcano, which would be an even WORSE eruption — as much as 10 times stronger!

The two volcanoes are about 12 miles apart and the last three times that Eyjafjallajokull erupted, Katla did too! NOT good!

But volcanic eruptions, like earthquakes, are difficult to predict so Iceland — and the rest of Europe– should do their best to be prepared!

Scary!

      Eyjafjallajokull

Katla is fast asleep it seems.. not one quake during the eruptions in Eyjafjallajökull. But you never know what will happen, Katla is way over-due so she will blow up sooner or later :)

wow read this saturday on the bbc news site……………. its now almost thursday……………….. wow…….

You are so pitifully out of date with your news as of late. It is just so typical that Americans are so evidently ignorant with regard to topical issues. Please become relevant again, and stop focusing all your time trying to further your own self interests…

      “AY-yah-fyah-lah-YOH-kuul”

    10. 10

How do you prepare for that?

These volcanoes go off a couple of times a century, and their usual pattern has been for Katla to go off in a BIG way a little after. We shall see if that actually happens this time…

    12. 12

Did you FUCK UP the spelling again, Perez?

Re: j_john20 – Quit crowing about Americans. You do realize that this is primarily a tinseltown gossip site, right? Look where you are reading YOUR news. Try somewhere else if you want current news instead of sniping.

    14. 14

Wow, lots of natural disasters lately.

    15. 15

strong earthquakes, now volcanoes…anyone else freakin out? i laughed thru the movie 2012, john cusack is laughing at me now!!!

    16. 16

Nice way to scare people off! My father works in the tourist business and has had multiple cancelations since the press started to scare tourist off! And there are no sings of Katla erupting, plus -> it´s EyjafjallajÖkull, with an Ö not an O!

Re: @v@ – I perhaps was a little impulsive when I decided to comment on this post…there are better things to do with my time, but for some reason I felt compelled to do so. I do not source NEWS from Perez Hilton..I source GOSSIP. Perez Hilton is a site I come to, to indulge my guilty pleasures…but it speaks volumes about the quality of information (Gossip) as of late, when I receive more information from the BBC & CNN with regards to the entertainment industry. Is he not the self proclaimed "GOSSIP GANGSTER"? BUT I do find it appalling indeed, that the information with regards to the volcanic eruptions is so esoteric…This information was released by the BBC on Thursday…it is now almost a week later!!! I really enjoyed this site, and I still do somewhat enjoy this site…but for how much longer? Perez needs to take his head out of his ass, and refocus his energies on maintaining the 'quality' and relevancy of gossip, and any subsequent news he decides to post. It is insulting that any individual, let alone a well informed individual like Perez, could possible be so out of date on such a major topical issue…BTW, I am North American…I have lived in Europe for the past 8 years, therefore I trust I can be quite objective when I make the statement: Americans are generally ignorant, and to be quite frank, I am often embarrassed to be North American.

Re: j_john20 – No worries. You're right, of course; anyone today definitely has to source their news if it matters. They ARE slow to get news. I'm in Canada at the moment, and they keep up with Europe here. I also don't think Perez is actually writing his site any more. It has a different flavor. He might dabble occasionally but is off empire building, imo. I also don't get that they care about being timely as much as promoting sideways discussion here.
I totally concur with your opinion, but wanted to suggest perhaps viewing things in their proper context. Have a beer on me.

      earthquakes, freezing temperatures, now volcanoes??!!!

all we need now is a nice big comet and we got a blockbuster movie

      all hail 2012– THE END

    20. 20

What I want to know is…
how can one volcano be named
      Eyjafjallajokull
while one only 12 miles apart can simply be named Katla.
hahhaa they just wanted to mess with everyone lmao

    21. 21

forget about the overdramatisation of 2012. check out cliff high's webbot. his system predicted 9/11, katrina and much more. his report for this year indicates many more volcanic eruptions, earthquakes etc.

    22. 22

all of you morons worried that this is 2012, get a headstart and off yourselves now, thanks :)

    23. @v@ says – reply to this

      23

Re: placebofactory – Of course it does. That's because the webbot puts forth trends based upon billions of words netted from internet buzz. Because of the Chilean and other quakes, plus Iceland and other active volcanoes, the amount of web buzz about these things is high, so Cliff's Bot is basing those predictions on captured buzz from occurances that have already happened. That's why I don't necessarily worry or see his Bot as a scientific indicator. It reflects what's already happened, or what people are afraid of happening. It's not a magic ball.

that is the smoke blowing from james and lars ass

    25. 25

      oh , perez . smartypopoopooo .
keep your sucking up with the showbizz. you dont belong in nature

nothing anyone can do about it . (vulcano's) we dont know when they spit , we dont know the effects . its different every time .
earthquakes are like that . good morning sanfransisco
better b prepared! (admit that this sounds just as stupid!)

if it happens , so b it !
its a beautiful force of nature ! infact , im changing my name in katla !

    26. 26

Re: tallchick – Haha, that's exactly what I thought when I first saw it. At least Katla is pronounceable.

    27. 27

Re: j_john20 – Oh shut up! I'm an American that has lived in Europe for 5 years and can say that people here are just as ignorant. I'm sick of hearing that we're all stupid, fat, lazy people, because Britain is just as bad or even worse in those categories.
Living here has made me more proud of where I come from, and I've never been one of those flag-waving, 'proud to be an American' people.

Re: poorlittlerichiegirl – Right? What moron believes the Earth will end in 2012, just due to an ancient prediction? They're worse than the Y-2K idiots.

    29. 29

      Ijawhat?

    30. 30

it doesnt have any effect on europe except for flights and the weather. I was going to england, but now i cant because of the ash clouds. and here in norway it started snowing again, only the snow is mixed with ash.
In my eyes this is has nothing to with 2012, and i dont think that the earth will go under in only 2 years.

    31. 31

thats so terrible Id be evacuating everyone in my town and city ASAP I wouldnt just wait for the unknown!

    32. 32

Re: karineee – I believe the worl will be ending shortly, but not within two years….. uhhhhh catastrophic events are picking up though.. all aroudn the world. its scary and there for sure is going to be the end of the world. Wheather its my time or far from it. Nothign last forever. this world takes care of us but not everyone respects mother nature .. and when you bite the hand that feeds you. bad shit happeneds. God bless everyone and this world. humanity can be the most terrific thing if we took care of our planet along time ago.

Re: sarahhardy27 – Bad stuff always happened. It just didn't fly around the entire world on the internet in 5 seconds and saturate everyone with disaster 24/7 like a constantly dripping tap. The earth and man have been around for millions of years, so is it likely to suddenly change? Superstitions and whacky theories fly around that net, too. The likelihood of your scenario is scientifically tiny. Always live with limitless hope. It works with either scenario.

    34. 34

      Prepare?!!???
How , pray tell,do you prepare for a volcanic eruption? The people on Hawaii are dying to know….besides, where is all thew ash gonna land anyway?

    35. 35

Iceland's not in Europe, asshole. Look at a fucking map, it's an island in the north Atlantic.
