Guess Who Else Is Quitting Thursday Night TV??

| Filed under: TV NewsJohn KrasinskiSteve CarellSad Sad

Looks like everyone's getting tired of their hit shows! First McDreamy and now him!

Steve Carell has decided that after next year's seventh season of The Office, he will be retiring the super awk head honcho Michael Scott!

He says:

"I'm contracted through next season. I think that will be last year."

Too bad! Even though we think the show took a downturn after Jim and Pam got together, it's still maintained its watchability!

They should probably end the series after next year then! Seven seasons is a pretty solid run!

What do U think?? Are U sad to see Steve Carrell leave The Office behind??

Pam and Jim are incredibly annoying, Steve Carrell makes the show!

  3. 3

nooooo the office could not survive i LOVE michael scott!

  4. 4

    ahhhh noooo the office!

  5. 5

NOOO!! This is terrible news! The Office is my favorite show!

I think Ricky Gervais should replace him with his original British boss. Ricky would give the American version a fresh spin.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! This is terrible news! Why do actors always abandon the TV shows that made them famous? Does Carrell really think people are going to watch a bunch more "Get Smart" movies?

    oooooh :(

I wish they would axe Pam and Jim. They are so smug and arrogant and effing annoying these last couple seasons and it keeps getting worse. I still like the show OK, but it used to be my favorite. I used to wait and be excited for Thursday night. Erin and Andy is where it's at now. I'll miss Steve if they go on without him.

This is terrible news. The Office is my favorite TV show of all time. I hope it stays on air for many years to come!

  13. 13

Yes, but its a great enough cast that I think it will go on.

  14. 14

yeah the show has sucked for a while….

  15. 15

The show is over without Michael Scott. It is one of my favorite shows but honestly these past couple seasons just haven't done much for me. I think they're running out of ideas now that Jim and Pam (yawn) are married. Seven years is a good run for the show.

Perhaps American TV networks should adopt the BBC standard of twelve episodes before cancellation. That way, the viewers don't get tired of what they see.

However, The Office didn't get great until much after those first twelve episodes so who knows?

  17. 17

I am sad about all the sh_teous movies he's going to make now that he has more time on his hands.

  18. 18

Jim and Pam work together on the show, Dwight makes the show

  19. 19

The Office is by far the best show on television. I wish it would last forever. The show is just as good before or after Jim and Pam's relationship. I hope Steve Carrell signs on for more seasons!

NOOOOOOO!!!! the show will not exist

  22. 22

NOOOOOOOO! I hope this is a joke!!!

  23. 23

NO!!!! I love the office. Without Michael Scott, its just Not the same. Sure, the other cast members are funny too but Michael is the glue and main funny star that makes the show hilarious.

Ending the show will definitely be sad, but the quality of the show has just not been the same the last season or two. It's better that it ends sooner and maintains its integrity, rather than going on and on until no one is watching anymore. (LOST got this part right)

  25. 25

Probably going to hold the network up for alot more money. Who walks away from that kind of money unless they're Charlie Sheen?

  26. 26

Well, if he goes, let's hope he goes out in great tragicomic style like David Brent in the UK version. Both versions are good, although I prefer the UK version, mostly for its painful honesty: David Brent is a hilarious but extremely sad person whose unsuccessful attempts to transcend the working world's (and indeed his own) banality makes him an object of ridicule and bring his professional demise. Even if we can relate to him, we're supposed to expect his downfall. Whereas I get the vibe that we're supposed to kinda' root for Michael Scott, that he represents the 21st century American dream of extreme personality overcoming total incompetence, that he's a comic hero of sorts. If he's defeated in the end, I'll place this show on the same level as Sunny in Philly and Arrested D.

  27. 27

I hope this isn't true!! NOOO

  28. 28

the show should have ended at least 2 seasons ago! I still watch it, but it's just not as funny as it used to be, they have run out of stories! Michael Scott is just pathetic now, everything he does just isn't believable. I know it's just a tv show, but its like come on, no boss could fuck up this much and be so stupid and still have a job.

  29. 29

WTF!! I love the office and michael scott!!!:(

  30. 30

There's no Office without Michael Scott!!! Pam and Jim are so boring and annoying now!

  31. 31

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! say it isnt so!!

  32. 32

I never could get into the show, but I think Carrell is smart to leave while on top. And the show should call it a day too. It never truly got the Seinfeld or Friends audience.

And Steve wants to be a movie star anyway.

  33. 33

I'm gonna miss him but I think the show could lest one of 2 seasons with out him, if he does a cameo once in a while and they get someone more over the top to be the new boss. The rating would drop at bit but, people need to think that will just make space for one more lame reality show.

  34. 34

sorry to say if he does that will the last we see of him..haven't seen the range..and a mistake for show and him if he leaves. the show will not last without him.

  35. 35

Because he's an actors Television's the worst because the story just goes on and on. People who do film and theatre get a chance to do other work and play other characters. I'm guessing he's just bored, you shouldn't have to bored being an actor…maybe an accountant or a teacher.

  36. 36

No Michael Scott, no Office. Fin.

  37. 37

NO!!! He can NEVER quit!!! I'm not gooing to believe this for a second! And for all of those bitching about Pam and Jim…give me a break! The show is always funny, always will be. Every character makes the show!

  38. 38

I'm devastated..I can't believe is going to be over..

  39. 39

Re: harliecharlie381 – you are annoying.

  40. Heh says – reply to this

I agree since Jim and Pam got together the show hasnt been that great but I dont think theyre done just yet ..there's still a lot that could be done with the other characters, they could just put Dwight in charge and keep the show going a little longer

  41. 41

The show DID take a turn for the worst once Pam and Jim got together. IT GOT REALLY HORRIBLE after the marriage and don't even get me started on the whole prego/baby fiasco.
I LOVE THE OFFICE, but the last 2 seasons have been horrible. It's time to call it a day!

  42. 42

was never a patch on ricky gervais as david brent

  43. 43

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, my life is over
