Aretha Franklin Backs Out Of Jazz Fest Performance AGAIN!

Aretha Franklin canceled her headlining performance at the New Orleans Jazz Fest only 10 hours before she was due to go on!
Luckily Earth Wind & Fire took her place at the last minute, but this is the SECOND time Aretha backed out of a performance at Jazz Fest since she canceled her show in 2009, too!
We don't think she'll get booked for that gig again — but we doubt she cares either!

She's not young, and can't hit the notes the way she used to. Maybe she doesn't want to be labled a "Whitney". Granted, Aretha doesn't have an alcohol or drug problem, but the way everyone's every little problem gets plastered all over the papers and internet, I can't say I blame her.
Aretha has fear of flying issues. Sometimes she overcomes them, sometimes not. I'm sure most promoters know this, but some are willing to risk her frequent cancellations when she cannot get on a plane. The only reason i've heard her so often is that I live in Cleveland and she can be driven here from Detroit for a show.

Get off of her back Perez. She is the Queen of Soul and you need to show her some R-E-S-P-E-C-T I'm sure she has her reasons. And she can be a Diva if she wants to be. She has earned that right unlike some of these no talent people that are considered good singers today. Wouldn't want to hear most of them singing outside of a studio. I like Earth, Wind and Fire anyway. Judgemental jackass!!!
I met with a rep for the house of blues, he said she is the hardest person to book and she is such a liability bc she cancels like this often.. she can sell out concerts, but she rarely shows up… and she demands that the air condition be turned off (no matter how hot it is) and then the venue gets reamed in the press for being too hot.. its a no win when shes involved.
Fat Cow needs to remember it was the public that made her what she is. That"s the problem with all celebs, they hit it big and the hell with the fans.
Re: New Orleans Lady – Hey there Lady! I lived in NOLA for two years and part of my heart and soul is still there. I worked at Ralph's French Quarter Laundromat when I was in school. It was less than a block from Lafittes. I was told it closed. I envy you, living there. I love my home city, but part of me is still a New Orleans girl. Fiorella's chicken and red beans and rice!

Awwww, you're a New Orleans Lady too. Ralph's store is closed but they still do pick up and delivery. You just can't drop off anymore. I'm actually 40 miles out of New Orleans now but I kept the name. I'm still there all of the time. There is a funny thing about New Orleans if you even visit there, you feel like a part of you belongs there. Its just an awsome old city.

Living in New Orleans I always went to Jazzfest…but it is crazy expensive I think. It costs 60 bucks for just one day of the fest. I was only off of work this day and almost went just to see Aretha, becuase c'mon, how often will you get that chance. Soooooo glad I didn't spend my 60 bucks…I would have been really pissed.

What really happened this coming from the head of security. She was scared the oil that was coming off the shore would get her or hurt her. No joke I started cracking up when I heard it. He said he sent her an email saying she would be ok but that was not good enough for her. They had also given her 50% of her fee so looks like she will be getting sued now. Oh no!!

There are about 420 acts at Jazz Fest this year, including Lionel Ritchie, Simon & Garfunkel, the Allman Brothers, Widespread Panic, Elvis Costello, Earth Wind & Fire, Pearl Jam, and BB King. She won't be missed. She cancelled last year following her horrific performance at the Presidential Inauguration. I saw her perform once in Albany, NY. She came out on stage for 30 minutes & then the show was over. Jazz Fest is about energy, and she wouldn't have been able to keep up.
Over-rated Primadona and not a Diva: Perez was the only one to recognize that this fat slob cancelled last year at JazzFest, as well. If she is afraid of flying, lift her with a crane into a U-Haul and drive her to the concert. "R-e-s-p-e-c-t" ?? This "pawn" of soul; doesn't even deserve "just a little bit."
