She's got such a great heart!

Although she didn't move to Nashville until she was 14, Taylor Swift considers the city home. And to fix her beloved city, Taylor donated $500,000 to help flood victims.

The country singer said:

"Being at home during the storm, I honestly could not believe what was happening to the city and the people I love so dearly, Nashville is my home, and the reason why I get to do what I love. I have always been proud to be a Nashvillian, but especially now, seeing the love that runs through this city when there are people in crisis."

30 people have been killed due to floods in three states. Taylor's donation will go to various relief organizations helping with the devastation.

    ……..Good Job, Dahling Girl…………..Merrill

  2. 2

OK maybe its me, but only $500K? I guess with all the money and awards she doesn't have time to donate more. I guess anything helps.

  3. 3

if I made millions upon millions and my hometown was in dire straights, I'd donate more than half a mil…..just sayin……

  4. 4

SSoooo proud of her…the world needs more people like her….truly inspirational…

  5. 5

Perez…have you donated any money?? Maybe cancel a vacation or arrange for a benefit?? And to Bearmonty….have you EVER given money in times of need to anyone?

  6. 6

Re: bearmonty – I was sorta thinking that same thing. I was like…why half a million instead of just one million period…but yeah, at least she donated something.

  7. 7

Re: bearmonty – $500,000 is a half a million… that's a huge donation! Last night there was a telethon here in Nashville and Vince Gill and Reba each gave $100,000. Taylor gave a massive amount.

  8. 8

I don't care about this rat face ho. She can't sing in front of a mic and she slips around with douche bag John Mayer. She is a dumb ho. She is still sucking up to the media with this donation. She should give and shut the hell up about it.

  9. 9

wow! of course cover girl wud choose the tall blonde with blue eys :l there r much beter looking young celebs that cud hav beent heir new representatives. much prettier ones too. i like taylor but she is just gettin on my nerves now and she uses pitty to get people to feel sorry for her. disagree but i dont give a fuk

  10. 10

haha i comment on the wrong post. lol whoops :p

  11. 11

Re: Bearmonty, exactly how much have you given? Don't remember there being a rule about donating. I dont even like Taylor Swift but seriously?!

  12. 12

Have any of you people that talk about Taylor only donating $500 k donated any money to the relief efforts? Put your money where your mouth is. It's easy to talk bad about people "only donating $500,000.00" but honestly if every single rich person that used to live in Nashville or country star that got their big start here in Nashville donating $500,000.00 the city would be up and running again in now time. Why should Taylor have to pay for all of Nashville's repairs? I live here in Nashville and I just want to point out to everyone that there is no donation too small (which by the way $500,000 is a HUGE amount to donate) or too big to help rebuild Nashville. If you would like to contribute to rebuilding Nashville, you can donate online to www.hon.org.

  13. 13

That's a lot of money! I hate that Nashville isn't getting any attention via the media! (at least here in LA). Way to be the example, Taylor, and a good one!

  14. 14

I have always felt that Taylor Swift is hugely overrated. It now appears that there is a genuinely good human being there behind the overdone makeup and the nearly nonexistent eyes!

  15. 15

Re: kymiberi I agree with you she totaly used the pitty party to death. I use to like her before she did that. I now have zero respect for her and believe she is a big fake.

  16. 16

How much money has she got, affording that kind of support?

  17. 17

seriously, all those bitching "what have you donated!?!?!?" being that I can hardly pay my bills, why would I give my money away just because they are currently worse off than me? on top of that, i don't ask for government assistance like most ppl who are "struggling" so I'm not even using tax payers money. if i had millions of dollars, i would most definitely donate to multiple charities. i haven't heard anyone say she didn't donate a large sum of money, simply that with all the money she makes and considers tennessee home, $500K seems, well……..cheap

Wasn't it sandra bullock who donated a mil to haiti - don't recall Bullock being haitian…..

    18

    Where's Obama….he hate white people.

  19. 19

Even when she does kind things like this, people still find a way to complain about her. Taylor is a genuinely nice person. Just accept it and move on with your lives.

  20. 20

Re: bearmonty – You're bummed out that someone donated "ONLY" $500,000?! Can you not grasp how much money that is? Sure she's worth a lot of money, but this is not the only place she has donated (a LOT) of money to. When's it going to be enough?! "OK maybe its me"–it is you.
This girl is a gem. I don't love her music but she really does seem to have a heart of gold. This is what a true role model looks like, keep it up, girl!

  21. 21

    Classy woman.

  22. 22

i dont think u have enuff makeup on lol

fuck she must look like a trainwreck when she wakes up in mornings.. she bathes in makeup

  23. 23

Anyone is complaining about how much she gave should stfu! Unless you are in that position yourself you don't know how much you'd donate. Everyone always says if I make it big I'll share, but how often does that actually happen? Secondly it's the thought that counts, whether you dislike her singing or her face, she has a genuine heart and that's what people should admire in her. Stop calling her an alien, Heidi Montag is more of an alien and the only charity work she's done is with her "lovely" husband spencer for a photo op!

  24. 24

earn millions, give a hundredth of what you earn. I see how it is.

  25. 25

plus she can get tax deductions for doing that publicly.

  26. 26

    nice work squinty eyed bitch

  27. 27

I really don't like this squinty eyed manufactured moron and her stupid unrealistic outlook on life, but she does seem like kind of a sweetie giving out money like that, even though im sure 79 % of ppl would if they could. Just saying.

  28. 28

Re: lalalovexyou – i doubt taylor's even worth $50 million. but donating a 100th of what she has earned to one charity is great! plus she probably donates to other charities too..

  29. 29

I think she has a good heart. She does somthing nice and people want to bitch about it. So sad.

  30. 30

of course she has to surpass ke$ha and make her look like a damn fool

  31. 31

    what a sweetheart

  32. 32

Taylor is the most amazing person ever for doing that! She has such a big heart and it's just another reason why I love her. Everyone in Nashville is so grateful for her donations. Shame on you people for saying "only 500K". You guys make me sick. Taylor has a bigger heart then you'll ever have. Thanks to her (and a few other celebrities), this flood is FINALLY getting the coverage it deserves. Shame on the media for blowing off Nashville like it was "just rain". I'd like for some of them to come to Nashville and actually see the disaster with their own eyes. It it absolutely devastating. Thousands of people have lost EVERYTHING they have. I'm glad Anderson Cooper stepped up though. I'm glad people are now starting to realize how tragic it is, but it's also a shame that it took so long for people to wake up and realize that our own homeland was destroyed. THANK YOU TAYLOR. You are a classy woman with a big heart.

  33. 33

    She's a great girl!

The bitching about how Nashville hasn't received the media attention it "deserves" needs to stop. Seriously. I realize that the self-important Nashvillians think that their flooding should be dominating the news on every channel, paper and website, but this is just a local story with no national impact beyond the human interest angle. Despite that, every major news outlet in the country has covered it, and it's also been highlighted on smaller sources, like this site. The story has received plenty of attention… well, the Nashville portion of the story has, at least. There are plenty of areas outside of Nashville and outside of Tennessee that have been devastated as well, and I don't see the Nville douchebags worrying about those people or the attention they should get. It's all about me, me, me, "We are Nashville!" (gag), Obama doesn't love us because he didn't drop everything and come look at the water, etc. It's asinine and delusional to think that the events in Nashville are more important than anything else going on in the country or the world. It's horrible for those directly affected and I wish them the best, but there are more significant and more tragic things happening elsewhere, like the oil spill that will decimate an entire economic industry over the entire Gulf and have a ripple effect throughout the entire country, not to mention the environmental impact and the effect it is already having on oil prices.

  35. 35

Really Taylor? Your proud of Nashville your "Home"..Quit trippin your from reading pennsylvania, born and raised. Glad you gave it so much recognition. Also how nice of you to donate a measly thousand dollars to the school district. tell me..how could you have been 'always proud' to be a nashvillian when you only moved there 5 years ago? bitch please..

  36. 36

    Re: Cass
You are an embarassment to the human race and America. Honestly. How about a lot of us think it's pathetic that we go run off and help other countries but leave our country behind when a disaster happens. If you don't think the Nashville flood was a disaster you are ignorant beyond words. I'm pretty sure everyone dropped everything to go give to Haiti, and we had a National Telethon for them. What about OUR people who lost everything, just like that. I'm not saying YOU have to care, but when thousands of our fellow Americans just faced a natural disaster and nobody seems to care, that says a lot about our country. It says we are a bunch of heartless a**holes. Nobody is saying that the oil spill isn't important either, but to say 2 minutes about the flood and move on is absolutely ridiculous. Now people are starting to mention it, but for a few days you heard nothing.

  37. 37

    Re: bearmonty

It's just you. So, how much did you donate? ::hears crickets::….. yeah, that's what I thought. She donated more than enough to the flood victims.

  38. 38

    Here is the thing "CASS",
Many people lost their things… most importantly, their lives.
So, get off your high horse and OFF THE COMPUTER IF YOU CANT PAY YOUR BILLS and stop running your mouth.
It seems to me that you are the "self-important" one, otherwise you wouldnt be on here bitching about not having any money to pay your bills.
TRY NOT HAVING A HOME TO PAY BILLS FOR.
    TRY NOT HAVING FLOOD INSURANCE.
Then lets see you keep talking.
We arent asking for handouts, we arent mad at Obama. In fact, we took care of things and we arent asking for people.
Until you have been in this situation, keep your self-righteous, all knowing, meaningless words to yourself because quite frankly… it looks like no one cares.
Now go run along and whine to another website, cause at least you have a place with electricity and a roof over your head that allows you to bitch and complain.
    Thanks!

  39. 39

Oh my god, seriously? She needs to STFU. "Nashville is my home." Bullshit. She was definitely born and raised in PA. Not only that, she's always been a stuck-up bitch and I know this for a fact. My boyfriend's boss is first-cousins with Taylor. She's a few years older than Taylor but she has mentioned that Taylor wasn't the friendliest and she always appeared stuck-up when they were kids. And Taylor was a nobody then, so I know she's not saying it out of jealousy. Regardless, this bitch needs to stfu, lol.

  40. 40

Re: michellexmyxbelle – She said Nashville is my home, not I was born in Nashville.

  41. 41

Atleast this celebrity is actually helping her country.
There is so much tragedy here in American, but our focus is on all the other countries. When are people going to really open their eyes and see the problems here? And when are they going to start adopting american children? They need a good home just like all the little african and asian babies Angelina Jolie is adopting.

    42

The bitching about how we help others and ignore our own is another bunch of bullshit that's repeatedly been spouted as a result of these floods. Do you even realize that foreign aid is less than 1% of our federal budget? For anyone to begrudge the people of Haiti, one of the poorest nations in the world, the assistance they received is appalling. It's just another sign of the middle class, privileged white entitlement we've seen throughout the flooding. Seriously, when an entire country is literally flattened and reduced to rubble, over 200,000 people dead, thousands of bodies left rotting in the street because there's no civil authority left to handle the crisis, over 1.5 million people without food, water or shelter… but Nashville is more important because the fucking Opry flooded. That's a real tragedy, right? Who gives a shit about the poor brown heathens in a third world country when a few thousand God-fearing Southerners need help… that they're already receiving. People in Nashville have electricity, sanitation, clean water, food, shelter, clothing, local/state/federal/charitable assistance on site, with the guarantee of more on the way as they rebuild. It is a terrible tragedy for those who lost their homes or their loved ones, but it doesn't even compare to an epic disaster like Haiti. To even suggest that the two are on the same level means you fail at humanity.

    43

Mcalgk8, put down the crackpipe. WTF are you talking about? Where do you get that I can't pay my bills? Even if I'd said that, what would it have to do with overly-entitled Nashvillians thinking that their flood trumps any other event? You people really need some perspective. Do a quick Google search, (since you obviously have electricity, shelter and the other comforts) and find cites for catastrophic flooding in the past 5 years. You'll quickly discover that this kind of flooding has happened all over the country, and in fact historic floods have been happening every year. Were you calling for celebrity benefits for Iowa, Illinois or Missouri in 2008? How about Oregon in 2009? Hell, what about Kentucky right now? The hypocrisy is stunning. In one breath it's all bootstraps, we don't need anyone, we take care of our own, yadda yadda, and in the same breath it turns into we deserve the media coverage, and the telethons, and the presidential visits, and the FEMA debit cards. It's truly disgusting, especially since the bitching is coming from people who came through the floods just fine and are whoring for drama on the interwebs from the comfort of their safe, dry homes. The people who deserve help and sympathy, the ones who've actually lost their homes or their loved ones, aren't online spouting about not getting their props.

Very good to hear! Ms. Swift is very sweet. :)
