As a painter, he's no Tony Bennett :)

  2. 2

    ……..that doesn't take much talent

  3. 3

Looks like OIL IN THE GULF OF MEXICO to me.
btw BP can go to hell.

  4. 4

yea, that is not particularly original or difficult. its pretty but i used to do that stuff in high school.

  5. 5

Re: cocohope – agreed. i don't see how ppl can call this art. a 2 year old can do this.

  6. 6

im not big on paintings…but i actually like it.
and for those who say it doesnt take much talent…lets see you try. i'd put some good cash that it wouldnt look half this good.

  7. 7

I really REALLY hate modern art. Splash a bit of paint on canvas and you're a genius. Back in the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, they really knew how to paint.

  8. 8

    I like it

  9. 9

I think its beautiful. I can tell he has a real talent for painting.

  10. 10

erm … whatever …stick to acting Jim.

  11. 11

Just glad Jim kicked that gold-digging whore to the curb. She couldn't finish an interview without mentioning HIS money. 'Oh… that was a $20 million dollar decision.' Etc. She's a pig.

  12. 12

it's really good. and not easy to do. you can see that he's layered the paint for texture and brought motion to it. love it.

  13. 13

    hmm..it's not bad

  14. 14

    Spermatozoa entering a firecrotch.

  15. 15

    I like it, it's pretty.

  16. 16

    Is it called "Oil Spill?"

  17. 17

Why is he paintings? Because he needs the money? No. He needs the attention (so do countless celebrities).

  18. 18

It might add some color to a dull room but this is not art by any means.

  19. 19

I guess since Hollywood is full of actors that can't act and singers that can't sing, why not add artists that can't paint?

  20. 20

    Red = hostility!

  21. 21

no technique. no skill. just smear some paint on and call it art. fail.

  22. 22

I like it, I wouldnt mind having it on my wall. Then again Im just a redneck who knows nothing about art.

  23. 23

    Very Jackson Pollock of him.

  24. 24

Jim is an amazing man. A true hero!

  25. 25

can these people saying its not art please give a definition of what art is? just because you dont like doesnt mean its not art

  26. 26

Actually, as a painter who frequently uses acrylics, I'd say before you comment on how 'easy' it is to splash that on, you should try to take that stick of ignorance out of your asses. It may not be highly original, but that doesn't mean it's simple to achieve.

  27. 27

    dumb and dumber

  28. 28

    Re: bunchofidiots – Well said.

  29. 29

Maybe he was more into the paint fumes… ha! lols

  30. 30

    I actually like it. Boing

  31. 31

Ass schould go bak to Canada

  32. 32

Wow ! That is really amazing! You can see from the lines and colors it definately is a painting about a relationship that didn't work out. Can't you just feel the happiness and pain intertwined?

  33. 33

IT LOOKS LIKE SPERM! COLORFUL SPERM!

  34. 34

SPERM!! IT LOOKS LIKE COLORFUL SPERM!!

  35. 35

$perm it looks lik colorful $perm!!

  36. 36

Must be nice to have money to spend on thousands of dollars of oil paints that you cam gloop on till your hearts content!

  37. 37

    Re: missjanedoe
I agree with what you said. (as a painter as well who also uses acrylics)

Anyway, I really like it, I think it's beautiful.

  38. 38

It looks like a Coogi sweater. Ya know, the ones rappers wore in the 90's

  39. 39

    I like it.

  40. 40

Its not difficult, I used to do things like this when I was in grade school. Actually, I have one just like it framed. But, it is nice, can add some color to a room. It will sell.

  41. 41

My kid did this in kindergarten…its called fingerpaint.

  42. 42

I don't generally like modern art but this is lovely. The colors and placement as well as the texture is really nice. I'd buy this.

  43. 43

Not bad? Come on! It's just lines of colour piled onto eachother, it's juvenile at best.

  44. 44

Re: xoxo_anonymous – Actually, I've seen this kind of "art" before, from kids all the way up to adults who aren't very well rounded when it comes to art. So no, this is neither original or difficult.

  45. 45

    Kinda like it. Boing!

  46. 46

Re: missjanedoe – Agreed. What doesn't take much talent is calling other people's art easy while sitting on your ass never having tried it.

  47. 47

Re: cocohope – Neither does sitting on your ass critiquing something you know nothing about. Take your emo photo and ignorance back to MySpace.

  48. 48

Please… I monkey could have done this… that ain't Art!

  49. 49

It's OK. I'm a painting professor and I get student paintings like that every day of the week.

  50. 50

So basically he squeezed some acrylic tubes on a canvas and called it a painting. There will be those blowhards out there who will say he is brilliant, but really that painting is not good. But then everyone has different taste in art so someone might like it.

  51. 51

its not bad but lets get real, modern 'art' is a joke, give me pre-raphaelites any day

  52. 52

It reminds me of the piece of board that I use to wipe my brushes on.

    53

This is beautiful. Full of passion, energy.. and a little rage. Excellent colour palet.. I'd buy it anyday regardless of who the artist is.

  54. 54

    i like

  55. 55

    its a bit basic

  56. @v@ says – reply to this

    56

I like it a lot. Art is subjective, but I'm feeling this.

  57. $onia says – reply to this

    57

Ughh…..he should learn how to paint first before releasing any photos of his work.

  58. 58

    Ritalin

  59. 59

I did that shit wasted old news but great release

  60. 60

I actually quite like it, especially the idea, which is pretty unique, but it does look like the cover art to "Signs of a Manic Phase" so Jim, if you read this and are not being treated for bipolar disorder, consider doing so, please!

  61. 61

Tony Bennett, Joni Mitchell, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan - these are musicians who can also paint well.

Jim Carrey is awful. All he did was squeeze some tubes of acrylic paint onto a canvas.

  62. 62

    Re: Lilygirl27
"I think its beautiful. I can tell he has a real talent for painting."

    -
    You're kidding, right?

  63. 63

Hey, I owned a gallery for 17 years (albeit an American Indian art gallery), and I think that this is a good painting. If you other hammerheads insist that you can do better (or could have done better in the second grade), then get off the internet and start painting.

  64. 64

Not bad? Hahahahahahahahahahaha. Jesus, Pig Face, you know even less about art than you do about music. Not bad. Hahahahahahahahahahaha.

  65. 65

Shades of Van Gogh torture/deep anger……………..

  66. 66

He misses his Jenny real bad!

Let's hope this is a health way to deal with the stress!

LEARN TO PROOF READ YOU IDIOT.

  68. 68

My kid could do that! Chewed gum is litter! Singapore is right! bradgough.ca

  69. 69

Oh didn't you know Perez; Jim Carrey is a member of the Universal Mind community. I saw a vide with him talking about it. I think it is great. He is becoming a better person and I applaud him. I think the title of the painting says it all.

  70. 70

    i like it.
maybe he can teach jessy james how to paint.

  71. 71

*sigh* People art does not mean one thing…it is something created by another human being to make a statement and share emotion. I personally like it, that doesn't mean everyone else isn't, but just because you don't like it and it "may" have been easy to do does not make it something a 4 year old or anyone could do. There has clearly been a conscious thought put into it regarding, color patterns, contrasts, and textures ect…therefore its art. But continue your ignorant comments if you must. It's one thing to say you don't like it, its another thing to make retarded comments.

  73. 73

    CRAP-TACULAR!

  74. 74

Anthony Hopkins released artwork this year too… & Bob Dylan releases his new collection soon

  75. 75

Re: Malfinnien – And that was great for those time periods. But, um, we're in a whole new century now, and things are a little bit different. I'm not saying I can't appreciate classic art, but I really love this painting that Jim did, and I love the stuff that Nick Kushner does (if you don't know him, Google), and I even love stuff that little kids do. Just because someone paints something like this, does not mean that at least one other person will not see it as 'art' or 'genius'.

  76. 76

I think it's rather well done. And for all of those people who made the "A monkey could do it" comments…My father, an abstract impressionist used to reply; "…but he couldn't do it twice."

  77. ganza says – reply to this

    77

this is dreadful; pointless and indulgent. Carrey should keep this kind of amateur work to himself.
