A legend has returned!

London was on its feet last night as Dame Julie Andrews took the stage for the first time in 30 years to perform at the O2 Arena.

The concert was titled The Gift of Music and featured Julie serenading the audience with tunes from Rodgers and Hammerstein, reading from her book and showcasing younger Broadway stars singing her classic tunes for Sound of Music and others.

Though accompanied by the amazing Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and a group of exceptional singers, Julie warned her audience that her voice had changed since her vocal chord surgery in 1997, so she is unable to belt out the tunes like she used to.

Wouldn't have mattered to us! The chance to see a great talent like hers is once in a lifetime!

We bet it was an outstanding show regardless!

Umm this just shows how lame your "research" is lol
"london was on its feet" no most of the audience wanted their money back because her voice was so bad it was like Whitney 2.0 lol
It's so sad because it's that asshole surgeon that mest up her voice, she should just stick to acting now at least she still looks great and made £250,000 for it lol

      p.s follow me on t w i t t e r my names FUTURESTARdelux thanks ^_^ x

like last week mario was slamming stage productions and whenever a known actor does stage mario says something to the extent of "this is what they've become……" (ex: denzel washington)

20,000-strong sing-along in the mighty 02 arena is something I'll remember forever.

Actually there were mass walkouts and she couldn't sing. The audiences said it was awful.

There are a few videos out there now of this concert. She doesn't sound as bad as what others have written about her performance, but I can see why those who paid so much to see her might be disappointed. Yet, I am amazed that she is still singing this beautifully at the age of 74! I would have loved to have been there to see her perform, but unlike so many others, I wouldn't have expected her to sing as perfectly as she did thirty years ago.

london certainly was on its feet - most of the audience walked out before the end. she talked on stage about how her voice wasnt what it was but that wasnt really mentioned in the promos for the show. she was charging £60-£100 for a ticket and she sang a few lines of about 5 songs and spent the rest of the show sitting on a chair at the side of the stage.

I was there on Saturday and much as I love her it was god awful. I left during the intermission. I also e-mailed O2 asking for a refund. Many of us who bought tickets early didn't know what we would be getting, 5 Broadway nobodies was not what we wanted. I think the tickets were sold under false pretences.

Nobody expected her voice to be perfect, but we did expect more than we got. When you hear she's playing a top venue like that you would tend to assume that her voice would have been fixed somehow.
Whoever talked Dame Julie into doing this quite frankly needs to be slapped. And slapped bloody hard

Re: Malfinnien – She lost her voice back in March of 1998 after she had throat surgery, she made the announcement November of that year. Those her follow her, should had known she can't sing NO MORE!!! I even knew this but I'm no fan, LOL.

I was at the concert and no matter what anyone says she has this incredible aura about her. And the few notes she was able to sing brought tears to my eyes. An absolute legend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Re: welshboi :P

I was there and most of the 14.000 people enjoyed it. It was wonderful to see Julie Andrews on stage. The reviews in the English paper where also very positieve about the voice and performance of Julie Andrews. There where people leaving after the intermission. Some of them said they expected that Julie would sing the whole evening and that was not the case.
