This is a very sad statement, considering how much Usher loved MJ, and how much MJ loved Usher. Michael can NEVER be compared to anyone….he changed the course of pop culture and actually *defined* it by some degree. There are NO COMPARISONS to be made. Michael was a once in a lifetime talent. People should really choose their words carefully when making statements as such. (I'm sure Usher did not literally mean he was going to be the next MJ)

Michael Jackson is the King of Pop. He is the only entertainer that will carry that title. I don't even know who Usher is? I heard his name years ago. Most probably don't know much about him. Usher has no legacy. His talent is widespread. The man sounds like someone who would star with Paris on Kim's Reality TV Show.

i don't really give two shits about what usher thinks of himself because he is not relevant. he's only had one hit that still gets played on the radio (and even that song is annoying as all hell), where as michael still has numerous songs that get tons of radio air play. what i really want to say is that whoever said lady gaga is the next michael jackson is a moron. a complete moron. i am sick to death of people (including perez and his band of ghost writers) acting like she is the end all be all of pop music. she is not. i like her music, i enjoy listening to it in my car when i have to make the hour drive to my evening classes. i'm even going to see her in concert because i enjoy her music enough. but her voice is mediocre. her style is ridiculous and no longer entertaining. the biggest thing she has going for her is that her songs are catchy. she doesn't even have a fraction of the talent that michael jackson had. she is not, nor will she ever be, the next michael jackson/madonna/whoever else you idiots think of.

In Usher's defense he never said he was the next MJ, he said "Michael was doing it for 50 years and that's something I'd like to grow towards". Perez stop putting words into people's mouths. However the fact that he thinks he's one of a kind and a worldwide pop icon makes me want to vomit (I hate when people are cocky). Even MJ who IS one of a kind never even tooted his own horn. Usher may be popular in today's music, but if he were out in the 60's or 70's he would be a one hit wonder. Oh and to be a worldwide icon wouldn't people all over the world actually have to know who you were? other than people from the USA I don't think anyone even really knows who he is. I made a comment earlier about Gaga being the only artist who (currently) comes close to MJ's global recognition. That's a pure fact. Not based on talent or legitimacy. But the fact remains that you can't go into a cafe in Sweden, a club in Japan, or a noodle shop in Vietnam without hearing a Lady Gaga song. My class of 2nd graders in India all know the chorus of "Bad Romance" by heart. She is a global giant right now, and no matter how much Americans (incl. me) want to deny it, it's true. The only other artist that EVERYONE knows on that same level is MJ. Hopefully the Gaga craze will fade. MJ will live on forever, imo.

Justin Timberlake and Usher are not the next MJ. They won't be. Their music is a hit one day, the next nobody wants to listen to it. I couldn't listen to "Yeah" or "My Love" again because they fed me up years ago and now they sound old. MJ's music is fresh despite it's so much older. And MJ broke down barriers in term of music taste, everybody from rock fans, to pop fans, people from all races loved his music. If you ask somebody who likes rock music if they like JT they will probably reply back that they hate his overrated guts.
