Go Go Power Rangers!

powerrangers.jpg

A long, long time ago, back in a decade called the 90s, the Power Rangers franchise was owned by Haim Saban, a man who became a billionaire overnight.

Disney swooped in and bought the rights to it some time ago, seeing the potential it could have in continuing it's live-action Saturday morning shows.

Then something happened (we assume Hannah Montanna) and the Rangers got shoved to the back of the line. Now, after six months of negotiations, Saban has been able to buy the property back and is already in talks with Nickelodeon to have a full on Rangers explosion on the network.

Not only are they looking to to producer 20 new episodes of the current series, but also open the Power Rangers library to play older episodes on Nicktoons.

Ugh! It would probably be painful to watch those earlier episodes! We imagine the production value wasn't as good as we remember it as kids!

We're sure there are some of you that disagree though.

Re: pinktoenails – I remember goosebumps also tales from the crip. HAHAHAHA.

  14. 14

wow nostalgia… I rememeber this show i loved it,

It was funny how the asian was the yellow the african-american the black one the all american girl pink and all american boy blue and the kind of latino/puerto rican red.. the 90's dumbing of society at its best.

  15. 15

awesome! i grew up watching them. i know they are cheesy, but the earlier episodes were the best! far better than the newer ones

  16. 16

I used to be the yellow one (well I pretended anyway lol) when the yellow one was black with braids. They change so much.

  17. 17

WOW This just brought back memories,LOL. I was so going to be the pink ranger "Kimberly" and in my head I was,LMFAO. I would kick my cousin's asses. Tommy was sexy!

  18. 18

i miss the old ones! that was my childhood lol. i use to love the Power Rangers! i miss all the old shows. Kids dont know good tv these days!

  19. 19

What they need to do is come out with a kick-ass movie and revamp the image like they did with Transformers… not make more TV versions! There's already like 6029472 different versions of it.

  20. 20

Yes I am happy that Saban brought back the Power Rangers and is putting the show on Nick. I must admit I still watch the Power Rangers even though I am 24 years old. Disney didn't do the Power Rangers justice when airing it.

  21. 21

    power rangers suck now!!
the original was the best. seriously STOP THE MADNESS!!

    @pinktoenails:
    YES!!! :)

  22. 22

It'll be hard for me to watch. I enjoyed Power Rangers as a kid and my favorite one in particular was the original Yellow Ranger. It's sad that the actress who portrayed her is no longer with us.

  23. 23

I don't see how the 90s was a "long time ago"
The 1890s, maybe. But not the 90s, seeing as how I am only 20 and a very proud 90s kid.
I was once obsessed with the PowerRangers, but seeing the original episodes now, they really, truly suck.

  24. 24

Which one murdered those two rich people by tying them up and throwing them overboard from their yacht in the Pacific Ocean?

  25. 25

Silly Perez, the cheesy 90's production value is what make the old Power Rangers episodes GOLD!

"Find 5 teenagers…with attitude!" I mean, come one!

  26. 26

I wonder which Sentai they'll adapt this time (as every Power Rangers season has been an adaptation of the Japanese Super Sentai shows, for those that don't know). Be 2 years behind and do Shinkenger, or be 1 year behind like it used to be and do Goseiger?

  27. 27

I agree, probably wouldn't be great to watch the old episodes due to the production then and now…BUT this is awesome! can't wait to watch with my son :) Power Rangers were my sh*t when I was a kid, go Kimberly! lol

  28. 28

Re: TotalTrash – I think he was being sarcastic about the 90's being a long time ago hun ;)

  29. 29

hahaha GO GO POWER RANGERS! i can remember being so high off acid in high school one day and coming home watching the power rangers, and those f'ers started jumping out the TV! ahhhhh good times!

  30. 30

I'd watch it just to see all that Tommy/Kim interaction again!

  31. 31

I watched an old, old episode with my friends the other day and it was actually hilarious. I think that he should sell the rights to adult swim and have them re-dub all the episodes.

  32. 32

I loved watchingthe power rangers. I remeber I couldn't wait 2 get home to watch it. It brings back memories. They better make it good n not ruin it like they did later on.

  33. JCPR says – reply to this

    33

OMG i remember acting like one of them and beating little kids in P.R.! such great memories :)

  34. 34

The production value for Power Rangers was Bandai stock reel, $12 usd, and some old hard candy the producer found in his pocket. The show looked like shit. Literally, 3 dimensional actors reacted to something happening in the 2 dimensional backdrop. Basically, it was the most amazing show ever when I was a kid. I don't know that nostalgia will make me watch re-runs of the original for more than a few episodes, but you never know; I may develop a new reason to love the show!

  35. 35

My boys wathch the old power ranger episodes all of the time. They will love seeing new ones. Keep the great Karate and fight scenes. Show positive messages to the kids about good vs evil. We love the Power Rangers.

  36. 36

Re: rejco100 – He was an unimportant extra that was in only one episode. He wasn't a Power Ranger whatsoever.

  37. 37

GO GO! POWER RANGERS! Red Ranger, Jason for LIIIIIIFE! Hahaha my cousins and I totally played the power rangers and I was the pink one hahahaha! Oh man, I thought it was awesome. I looked back them, and ugh, yea the quality was really shitty. But oh man, still classic!

  38. 38

    Re: crossbones27
Big Wolf on Campus ftw, I had a lop bunny, that I named Merton because of one of the characters. Lmao!

  39. 39

Just show the original episodes and call it a day. Making new episodes at this point is like beating a dead horse.

  40. 40

It's hilarious, I love it! The original series I mean. And maybe that one power rangers in space..so cheesy, so awesome

  41. 41

Perez, one of the power rangers is in prison for life for killing that Az. couple when they tried to sale him their boat.

  42. 42

Whatever Perez!! I loved the first episodes better than the newer ones. They were cheesy as hell but still the best! Go Go Power Rangers! :D

  43. 43

WOO! Out of nowhere Saban swoops in to save the Power Rangers from the poeple who gave us the monster we all know as HANNAH MONTANA (who grinds directors at the sweet ripe age of 16, *vomits*)! Disney was way in over their heads assuming responsibility for the Power Rangers franchise, so they ran it into the ground and focused on talentless Miley Cyrus. I am super glad and looking forward to a new era of Saban produced Power Ranger seasons. Dino Thunder and SPD were great seasons…The original Saban-era seasons, Mighty Morphin' through Wild Force, were awesome…you could recognize parts of LA and Ventura they filmed in all the time. HAHA! :D

Re: bralbecky – No, he was never a Power Ranger!!! He was an unimportant extra that was only in one episode. Get your facts straight.
