Sir Simon Cowell!

| Filed under: Royals RoyceSimon Cowell

If you hear the sound of an ego inflating this morning, no worries, it's just Simon Cowell.

Simon, by order of the Queen, will be receiving knighthood next month. He was recommended to be put on the Queen's Birthday Honours list by former prime minster Gordon Brown, who sited the music mogul's numerous charity ventures and his contributions to the British recording industry.

Brilliant! Congrats!

  4. 4

Apart from the really long sentence, that was (oddly!) well written. What gives?

  5. 5

love Simon. He is just his own kind of cool!

I used to like him but not anymore.

Gordon Brown recommended him but Simon Cowell, the day before the election came out against Brown. Cowell wanted people to vote for the Conservatives, the rich people's party. As though he knew anything about politics.

The guy's an asshole, is my point.

It's a slap he needs, for polluting the air with his foul cigarette smoke

Attaining knighthood with Queenie means you've served your illuminati masters well. Simon apparently has served his well. The shows he fronts are about a lot more than just giving regular people the chance to make it big with their supposedly natural born talents. Those with eyes to see and ears to hear…….

likeing a republican does not make him an asshole. He is free to support whoever he wants.

Re: #1mileyfan – mario's an immature, big headed, buck toothed bitch who can't comprehend that people are entitled to opinions different from his……..

it's cited, not "sited". Some words are just beyond spellcheck and require a brain.

Oh good grief they'll knight anyone these days! It doesn't mean anything anymore. Too bad.

Re: manon is me – Simon is a pretty sensible person with working class sensibilities. I'd bet he has his reasons, which you're not privy to.
Did you see how Brown spoke to/about that woman in her own neighbourhood?
Never mind the much bigger piles that went before. Simon is one person who I actually think earned this honor. That's bloody marvellous.

    Re: #1mileyfan

#1mileyfan: Even though I myself am not a Republican, I agree with you. Some of my best friends, etc. However, there are three major political parties in the U.K.: the Labour Party, the Conservative Party, and the newer but influential Liberal Democrats. There is no Republican party in the U.K.

This is a joke. Orders and Knighthoods are for people who have contributed to society. Simon Cowell hasn't.
He isn't from a working class background. His father being a record company executive and Simon going to a Public School.

Yeah so he's contributed to charity but so what he is rich. All he has done is make a lot of money off awful TV shows and "musicians".

However, I think he won't get a knighthood anyway. Perhaps the committee who decided will recommend a MBE (member of the Order of the British Empire) instead.

    Congratulations, Simon.
While some people may not like your comments, your comments are the ones which carry the most weight.
Your good works for charity deserve to be recognized… and becoming Sir Simon Cowell is the way to do this. What else can someone who has everything receive?
    Good for you, Sir Simon.
