Sure, the Newsweek article was a bit of weak journalism, but I sort of agree with it. It mentioned gay men playing str8 men. Actually, Cynthia Nixon … knowing that she's a lesbian, I really couldn't dig watching her doing any str8 love scenes. It would be like watching a clinical sex scene, and there's a lot missing there.

Are we forgetting that the person who penned the article is gay himself? Rather than condemning, you should be doing what you can to put steer his views in a more peaceful way rather than humiliating him like this.

Ryan Murphy had it right, you don't. Actions speak louder than words.

Love her. She's so well spoken.

Blah blah blah. We get it. You don't agree with the Newsweek guy's article. Are you going to post every response anyone ever writes about it? It's all the same shit. Move on already. It's not news anymore but you insist on beating a dead horse. Lord knows you couldn't prove him wrong.

    she's so damn pretty here~~~

She's an idiot - thank SJP that her 15 minutes of fame has stretched over 10+ years.

Shame on Newsweek for this article. They obviously put it out there to garner publicity since no one reads the magazing anymore (ty, internet). While it was a tacky move to publish the article - it kinda' does have a point. Although, is it that important to talk about it when it can only do damage and keep more public eye'd people in the closet?

Cynthia, ftw. She's looking great, too!

I think she's being a little overly dramatic about it setting gays back 10 years, but she has a right to speak her mind, just like the author of the Newsweek article.

    muffmuncher "nuff said.

Love ya Cynthia…but 10 years? Naw.

  12. 12

Where was the rest of the interview? I guess you edited the rest out…. I mean I am gay myself, but let me hear more than just what you want me to hear…..

    Fuckin carpet muncher.

Please! Nixon is one of the actresses who magnifies her emotions all over the place. At some point she will wake up, realize how foolish she is, and go back to men. Her g/f is a scary joke. Get thee to a therapist, Cynthia!

good for her! equality for ALL

Wow… I don't ever think I have heard Cynthia Nixon talk in an interview before. She is so well spoken. She sounds like a very intelligent woman! And I am a straight woman and I relate mostly to Cynthia's character Miranda on SATC, so I think she plays straight pretty damn well!

  18. 18

I think the article was pretty much true! I cant see Cynthia Nixon as straight and I really dont buy Neil Harris as not only straight-but a womanizer?? So any one who says anything the least bit critical of gays-even if its true is a homophobe?? Hey drama queens-20 years ago a known gay couldnt get a movie or tv role-so get over it.

  19. 19

    go on girl. well put.

  20. 20

She looks gorgeous. ANd she's very right. I mean racism is a huge no-no, as it should be. But when someone makes homophobic remarks/statements, it's "blah blah blah. We get it". NO! Nobody gets it until they truly GET IT! Equality for all! Enough is enough!

STFU Cynthia Nixon! There's a reason that Chris Noth plays Big and Mario Cantone plays Anthony in your stupid movie. What if the roles were reversed and Mario played Big; would him be convincing as the romantic lead? Of course not. Some actors (Sean Hayes and others) may not be able to convincingly play straight roles; it's not the end of the world for Newsweek to mention this in their article.

  22. 22

The person that wrote the article is homosexual. Did you know that?

  23. 23

Perez, you are so predictable!!! You agree with everything gays say, disagree with everything conservatives say. You are the one who is a bigot. It's time to open your mind to other people's points of views, and that includes non-gays and non-liberals. Try it, you could learn something, remember half of this country is conservative.

  24. 24

Have you EVER seen the man-dyke she is with ? A chaz Bono type - big as a house ! Anyways….Anne Heche went back to being st8 after her career went down the crapper, so who knows ?

  25. 25

WHY are the gays so stereotypical on SATC ? I mean - flamboyant, decorators, catty, bitchy … Just say'n …..

  26. 26

Good for her! NewsWeak should TRY to understand that watching a theatrical performance requires one to suspend a certain amount of belief. Actors are able to become the character that they are playing. If casting were limited to only those who had the actual experience of their character, or closely fit the character's profile, casting would have gone with real serial killers for the movie "In Cold Blood". Anyway, I want to read Roger Ebert's blog and see what he had to say about this. Love Cynthia Nixon.

Straight male actors play gay parts which are believable (Penn, Gyllenhaal, Hanks, Seymour-Hoffman, McCormack). Straight women play lesbian parts which are believable. Even Felicity Huffman played a believable transgender. It is just another way to keep other than hetero out of the cultural landscape. What's up with a gay man writing an article like this one? I smell political posturing, by why?
