Emma Watson and That Percy Jackson Kid To Be In Perks Of Being A Wallflower Adaptation!!

| Filed under: Film FlickersEmma Watson

This is seriously exciting news! We LOVED that book!

Emma Watson and that Percy Jackson kid, Logan Lerman, are in talks to star in the film adaptation of indie kid favorite The Perks of Being a Wallflower!

For those of you who weren't emotionally tortured 12 year olds, the novel, written by Stephen Chbosky (who also is writing and directing the film) chronicles a young boy's awkward teenage years, experimentation with drugs and sexuality in a series of letters he's writing to an unknown recipient!

We're being a little sassy, but in all seriousness, it's a wonderful, heartwrenching story that deserves a good adaptation!

No news on who's playing who, but we imagine Lerman will play the protagonist Charlie and Watson will take on Sam, his friend and love interest!

We think they'll be PERFECT! We can't wait to hear more details!

Thoughts??

    I'm actually thrilled.
The novel was amazing , and Emma Watson is a very good actress.

  2. 2

i LOVE logan lerman and i think that he is a really good actor.
I'm so excited to see this movie! I agree, those two will be perfect for the roles!

  3. 3

The book was kind of weird, hopefully the movie is good! Logan is awesome :)

  4. 4

i loved the book!!!!!!!!! and i cant wait for the movie!!!

  5. 5

    No!
Perks of Being a Wallflower is an American book … I don't want another British actor doing an American accent! Plus Sam is supposed to be dark and interesting not beautiful like Emma..

  6. 6

    I love the book.
But i think the movie will kinda ruin what i thought about the book, you know?

  7. 7

I think he would be great as Charlie!! I also loved that book… as a teacher I wish I could make all my students read it but I really enjoy having a job!

  8. 8

i love logan lerman, he would be adorable as charlie!

  9. 9

:D I aaadore Logan, we have/are currently going to high school together. LOVE that kid.

  10. 10

I would love to see how this turns out, but Sam is suppose to be a few years older than Charlie?? right?! I don't know how that will work out, it must mean that the movie will kill the book…I still can't wait!

  11. 11

Ugh that book is so overrated. I remember reading it in 8th grade because everyone who was "edgy" was raving about it and it is utterly forgettable and mediocre.

  12. 12

Emma is so perfect and beautiful… Kristen is a bitch

  13. 13

I'm so excited! Perks is literally the best book i have ever read

  14. 14

They better do a good job with this movie…I will be very upset if they don't haha. This books means so much to me!

  15. 15

    whoops, fell asleep again!

  16. 16

Uhg that book is wayyyy too popular for what it is. All the artsy and scene kids read this and prayed to it while I was in school. I checked it out, and it really wasn't that great.

  17. 17

shes 20 how is he? would be awkward for playing his love intrest, apart from that perfect choice, beautiful and talented and 'fantasys' leading lady unlike a certain lip biter

  18. 18

so excited to see this book become a movie! it was one of my favorites!

  19. 19

That book really isn't that good. Hopefully the movie will be better and more interesting!

  20. 20

so excited. its is such a great book, i hope they don't mess it up! they seems like the perfect actors to play the characters. can't wait to see what comes of it

  21. 21

I'd sell my soul for a night with Emma.

  22. 22

Read the book probably last summer or so and it was ok, interesting, and weird, and for a short book = a long read lol but i'll be interested in the movie adaptation :D … the um ending … o.o
this is really a mature book with lots of levels but simple at the same time

  23. 23

I hate all you idiots that don't like Kristen. You're just jealous of her. I hope they switch roles so you won't watch the movie!! >:-)

  24. 24

ahhh i love it!! logan is adorable and i can totally see him playing charlie!! i remember loving this book as a kid. im so glad its being made into a movie!!

  25. 25

    The novel was HIGHLY overrated.

  26. 26

Re: TheGenYgirl – THANK YOU. I agree.

  27. 27

emma watson is adorable love her

  28. 28

nooo!! they can't make that into a movie! thats totally selling out!

but i am interested nonetheless lolz….

but seriously. i will be pissed the day they make a Catcher in the Rye movie..

  29. 29

I'm a fan of Emma Watson, but I don't think she's Sam at all. She's too much of a classic beauty, I think to play Sam they need a more all-American looking girl. Someone like Dakota Fanning if she were older. Maybe Amanda Seyfried? A young Kirsten Dunst would have been perfect. That's how I imagined Sam.

  30. 30

I would go see this movie! I'm currently reading the book now and its sooooo good. I am excited! Emma would do great, I haven't seen Percy Jackson but I'm sure he'll do good.

  31. 31

i hated this book! two yearsago i had to read it for a presentation at school. wooow! i do not even know where to start with my critisicm. to sum it up: this book contains millions of stereotypes & the story is typical american (btw: i'm from germany). not interesting or new or innovative at all. the only good thing about this novel was the ending…well not the ending itself but the fact that this novel was over made me really glad.

emma watson is way too classy to play a character out of this horrendous novel.

  32. 32

    I LOVED the novel!

  33. 33

i love emma's hair in this picture

i've never read the book at all. heard the title but never read it.
i'm not sure if i'll be interested in it.

  34. 34

I read this book last year, and I loved it. I actually think they're pretty decent actors, so I can't wait to see how they'll do.
But I never really pictured Charlie to look anything like Logan, or Sam looking like Emma.

awh,i can't wait!emma watson's absolutely talented and logan is just hotness personified. :)

  36. 36

Emma's pretty much my favorite female stars out there and I'm slowly, but surely, falling in love with Logan Lerman, so the two of them is a match made in heaven for me. I'd have to read the book first to be able to tell if they'd be good for the parts, though.

  37. 37

So cool! How AWESOME is this news??? I would LOVE to see these two in a movie together. I’m assuming Emma would play Sam, which is a completely different character from the ones she usually plays. It will be really nice to see her get to show off her range. Emma is one of the rare actresses who can play anything: drama, comedy, romance, horror, etc. She’s very talented.
I also love Logan Lerman and of course, John Malkovich. I really really hope this news is true!
