Martin Scorsese Continues To Cast Sinatra Biopic In His Head

| Filed under: Film FlickersLeonardo DiCaprio

We imagine this movie is going to end up being a reunion for anyone and everyone who has ever starred in a Martin Scorsese flick.

Martin reportedly has a vague idea of who he wants to play the leads in his upcoming Frank Sinatra biopic. We know the names Johnny Depp, George Clooney and lest us not forget, golden boy Leonardo DiCaprio are all in the running to play Old Blue Eyes, but what about the other members of the Rat Pack?

Martin admitted that for the role of Dean Martin, he has either Al Pacino or Robert De Niro in mind.

Solid choices.

But make this easy on yourself, Marty. Just choose whichever actor you think will fare better next to Leo as Frank. (C'mon, who are you trying to kid here???)

The film would be far more interesting if Scorsese choose unknown actors that are talented and share a resemblance to the characters.

  2. 2

Yeah, it should definitely be Leo and Robert De Niro. That would be so awesome.

Scorsese could cook up another "New York, New York" with this line of thinking. Is he thinking of just filming Frank's funeral? This cast is on Social Security. By the time this ponderous expense hits the multiplex, nobody's going to care about Marty's rewrite of 1940.

    James Marsden for Frank Sinatra!

  5. 5

    What about Harry Connick, Jr.??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
    He's such an obvious choice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. 6

scorsese himself should play frank. he's a good actor. just watch quiz show. leo as frank would be an outrage

  7. 7

I think….SETH MACFARLANE NEEDS TO BE IN THIS. He was vocally trained by Sinatra's old teachers! he could take on any role in this!

    pee wee herman?

  9. 9

    Scorsese signed the Polanski petition.

I won't be seeing any more of his movies.

  10. 10

DeNiro is too old for ther role of Dean - how about Harry Connick Jr. and for Sammy, the black kid who played in Hairspray?

  11. 11

LOL, Ok so im gonna have to agree with you…..we all know he cant do anything without Leo.

  12. 12

Love Is Blind. And he must be in LURVE with DiCaprio BUNCHES!!

These guys are all soooo typecast at this point.

This would be a serious disaster of a movie if any of them are in it.

BE BRAVE. Cast some talented unknowns. There ARE other actors in the world. And geeezzzz, yes, their are a lot more talented actors out there.

But Heaven forbid he should have to work at it and find them. No…easier to go with typecast hodgepodge mentioned above.

Hell….just name it Ocean's Sinatra DiCraprio Fest.

There was already a 4 hour Sinatra mini-series that covered anything we ever need to know. Find another project Martin…

  14. 14

Harry Connick Jr for Frank Sinatra, George Clooney for Dean Martin, Robert Downey Jr as Peter Lawford, and for Sammy Don Cheadle is really the obvious choices, no??????

  15. 15

Perez Johnny Depp would play a MUCH better Sinatra than Leo…hate to say it as much as I love them both!

  16. 16

how about none of these actors cause no one can be Blue Eyes!!

  17. 17

Re: Curious Yellow – Gotta say I agree. Wasn't he talking about doing another mob flick at some point?

  18. 18

Matt Damon would make a great Sinatra. The blue eyes, the smile.

  19. 19

As much as I love them both, De Niro and Pacino are just too old. I agree with the Harry Connick Jr. choice. That one seems like a no brainer.

  20. 20

Maybe Depp, but those other guys are way too old, unless you use them for later life stuff. Don't get old guys. Yeah, Damon would be good, about 40 pounds ago! Sinatra weighed about 115 pounds soaking wet, when he started out. No one wants to see a bunch of fat, old men trying to sing and dance.

He needs to get out of the rut of casting the same people over and over. Besides, you can't cast a young actor as Frank, then cast an old guy as Dean, it just doesn't work. And for that matter, DiCraprio should never be cast as anything … ever.
