Another Lost Mystery Solved!

| Filed under: TV NewsConspiracy Corner

The show hasn't even been over for a week and that sneaky smoke monster has struck again! He'll never stop causing trouble, will he??

Despite how emotionally sucker-punched satisfied we were with the conclusion of Lost, it certainly cannot be denied that the producers left a mountain of questions unanswered!

Message boards are running rampant with possible theories and explanations, including one sparked by the post-show, stock footage of the original plane wreckage alone on an empty beach that played over the credits. Many assumed that it was one final twist - that the characters had all died in the crash and the entire series was an additional part of their journey through purgatory!

However, we're happy to inform you that we can officially nix that theory for you Losties today, as compelling as it might be! We've learned that the network added that footage, not the producers - AKA it's not a part of the story!

A rep for ABC confirms:

”The images shown during the end credits of the Lost finale, which included shots of Oceanic 815 on a deserted beach, were not part of the final story but were a visual aid to allow the viewer to decompress before heading into the news.”

Well there you have it. That's one mystery solved, now only 7,402 to go!

What was YOUR interpretation of the show's finale?? What do U want to see explained??

Oh my shit, i'm so sick of hearing about fucking LOST. Can we stop talking about it now? It's over, and it's a TELEVISION SHOW. NOT REAL. Lawd.

  2. 2

i'm still gutted over sawyer and kate not ending up together

i miss the hot cage sex

  3. 3

So sad it's over…. what the **** do I watch now??????

    Fringe? Pshhhhh

  4. 4

Um I never thought the wreckage at the end had to do with anything. The island still could be purgatory that answers crap actually. Crap. I think the writers got some plaining to do.

    Re: imawesome – lol!!

i thought the finale was awesome. i think all the most important questions were answered and i like that they left a lot unanswered and open to our interpretation!

  7. 7

I was actually really happy with the ending. If there was one thing i wish they would have touched upon, it would be about Walt. They never really explained why he was special, and why Shannon and Lock saw him so many times randomly in the jungle. Was bummed to see that him and michael werent in the finally, but oh well.

Why are you such a dick, Perez? Just because this show is beyond your punitive intelligence and your French poodle attention span does NOT mean it's not one of the greatest shows every made! Suck it.

  9. 9

Anyone who thinks that they were dead all along are MORONS.
I mean hell, they couldn't have made it any clearer in the finale that their experience on the island was real.

    Re: efarl654
I agree. At first I thought the finale was ok, but after thinking about it and watching it again, it really was an amazing finale

  11. 11

Why are you LOST fans even worried about the answers to your questions? You watched a 6 year dream sequence! You were fucking bamboozled.

  12. 12

PEREZ, can you start a petition to force the writers to answer some questions??
like why does the smoke monster make noise, like why can't women have babies, like who drops darma food ont he island??
    Use your big powers pereeeezzz

I think there were spiritual and scientific pieces of this story. I happened to lean towards the spiritual side and I was VERY happy with the ending. Christian standing in front of the stained glass window depicting all forms of religion was very moving IMHO. First scene had Jack opening his eyes, last scene had Jack closing them. Perfect.

It was made clear, in the finale. Everything that happened on the island was real. The sideflashes were them trying to find their way back to one another so they could pass over, to the other side, together. The people who were able to leave the island, on the plane, lived on and died at later points in their lives. Ben and Hugo guarded the island until, at some point, they died. They all came together to welcome Jack. I think it was explained a while ago that Michael couldn't leave the island because he killed two people. He was one of the whispering voices. Walt escaped the island and lived with his Grandmonther or something.

This reminds me of the line from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"
"It's like the Sopranos… It's O-V-E-R, stop talking about it, already!"

    Re: latinothunder24
    "French Poodle attention span…"

  17. 17

Anyone who thought this was even an option is an idiot!

  18. 18

And this article was ripped off of 'Watch With Kristen' (which was possibly ripped off of Michael Ausiello's blog - but I digress).

Do you ever get any of your own material, Perez, that isn't just a re-worded article from another blog?

  19. 19

ok. MORONS. Listen up! IT was NOT a dream sequence. Everything that happened in the flashbacks, on the island, and the flash forwards REALLY happened. The flash sideways could be considered purgatory to many. I think they went through more in their lives together than most people can fathom or imagine and that after they were ALL dead they sorta met up to move on to whatever came next together.

looks like they had some good sex

  22. 22

I kind of think that both stories were real… The bomb that went off at the end of the 5th season…What if, it did take away everything away, so that what we were doing was watching what would have happened if it didn't work, and what did happen because it worked. But both were realities, and both really happened, and some how, memories sparked and they were living their life in 2 seperate tangents and that no matter what…just like fate, no matter what happens, life tends to work itself out into what is supposed to be, no matter what path you take. :)

  23. 23

I enjoyed the finale. Obviously it was impossible to tie up all the loose end, so I found the way they wrapped it up pretty satisfying. However, there is just one question that was introduced during the finale that I am curious about…

Why didn't Ben Linus enter the church in the end? Any significance/theories?

  24. 24

Re: Evrybdy44 – Everything you said=Glorified six season dream sequence. You got played for SIX years. Enjoy figuring out your burning questions.

  25. 25

Re: B2R – You make some valid points. But wouldn't Walt end up in the afterlife too? Penny was never on the island but she was there.

  26. 26

Re: bookworm16 – My take on Ben not entering the church was that he wasn't "ready" to pass over yet. Perhaps he wasn't done atoning or more maybe he was waiting for his daughter?

  27. 27

Re: LovelyCup – humm……no, it wasn't a dream sequence at all, no one got played. just shup up because you have no idea what your talking about

  28. 28

Everything on the island was real. The flash-sideways in the final season was their journey to the afterlife which they went to in the last few minutes of the finale. They were finally all there together so they were able to leave together. They did not ALL die on the island. Some of them did and we saw the ones that did. (Sayid, Sun, Jin, Shannon, Boone, Jack, Charlie, Juilet) It is assumed Hurley and Ben died there. They even discussed it. "You were a good #1 blah blah blah." Kate, Sawyer, Ben, Richard, Claire, Miles and whoever else got off the island and died of natural causes/whatever else years later. Christan Sheaperd even said that everything on the island happened and that some people died before Jack while some died after.

  29. 29

    Re: LovelyCup

I respectfully disagree. A true LOST fan would expect some mystery to be left on the table. The real story was on the characters and their journey for redemption, it's deeper than the average couch potato could grasp. I certainly wouldn't expect a KARDASHIAN fan to get LOST!

  30. 30

Re: pittisit – Omg you're soo right ben was definetly waiting for his daughter to remember so he could move on with her!!! makes sense now. and btw to all those people who are saying it was all a dream and we wasted six years of our life, shut the fuck up you obviously never watched the show and don't know what the fuck your talking about.

  31. 31

I read on a blog that the people who were in the church were all the people from the first season. The writers had the ending figured when they did season 1 and that is why you dont see certain people in the church…I think Ben was waiting for Alex to remember so they could cross over together..

  32. 32

I want to know who built the temple and the four toed statue??? Along the same line, I want to know who started everything on the island before jacobs mother?

  33. 33

The unanswered questions were definately left up to the viewers to decide. I think they wrapped it up in the best way they could. I'll miss you Lost!

  34. 34

For a site that is suppose to be current and on top of things, you always seem to post stuff a few days after everyone else.

  35. 35

Why would the "network" get to end the show. That doesn't even make sense. No sense. None. If it's true then as a six year fan of the show I'm disappointed and over it all.

  36. 36

Thanks for officially clearing up what was cleared up a few days ago.

The ending was great. They didn't all die from the crash. 6 ended up escaping via the plane while Ben, Hurley, Desmond, Rose and Bernard were left on the island. Jack upon seeing the plane leave, was able to let go, died, and found himself in the afterlife (which was saved because he saved the island) with the rest of his friends (who either died before or after him)

The finale takes several watchings to really understand the ending.

Re: Roseygirl – You hurt my feelings. I'm not a Kardashian fan. ANd LOST is a TV show. It ain't Chaucer.
