TiVo Still Losing Subscribers, Just Not As Many As Usual!

Inneresting!

We didn't realize TiVo was even still around, but it could be (slowly) making a comeback!

In its most recent quarter, it lost 96,000 subscribers, which may seem like a lot, but it's actually its SMALLEST subscriber loss in over three years - back to where it was in 2004!

Wow!

Anyone have any insight into what that might mean for the future of TiVo??

    I love my Tivo

We had to get rid of TiVo because Comcast upgraded to digital and TiVo was not compatible any longer - and it was cheaper to get their DVR instead of having to upgrade TiVo box and pay for their service. I will say I like TiVo better than DVR, but not the price!

    OBSOLETE.

I loooooove my tivo! I can't stand the interfaces with the other recorder boxes. The problem is, it can be hard for the technically challenged to set up a tivo with their current subscriber, especially when its so much easier to go with the subscriber's boxes. Oh well. Here's hoping that little tv guy pulls through!!

I love my TiVo, too! We have two cable cards in it so we can record two different shows at the same time. And it is so user friendly. But with the competition from cable providers leasing their own boxes, they are going to have to keep ahead of the curve.

I love my TIVO and it finally died after 7 years of usage. It's a lot better than the dvr the cable company are pushing which freezes all the time. Once we move, we'll change cable provider and get Tivo back. It's worth it in the long run.

Tivo rules. The interface is user friendly. They are on the cutting edge of online video. They have Netflix, Amazon, blockbuster, youtube and others that you can watch directly from the Tivo. The comcast DVR doesn't even touch the features Tivo has (unless your comcast dvr is lucky and runs tivo software).

TIVO is FAR SUPERIOR to other DVR's

My husband talked me in to getting U-Verse and I said yes on the basis that I could keep my one TIVO machine in the bedroom. Well that didn't happen - it had to be one or the other. I MISS MY TIVO AND THE TIVO SERVICE sooo much…..I hate the U-verse remote and I miss my TIVO remote sound effects……….It is just so much better than all the DVR systems out there……Can you tell I miss my TIVO?????!!!!!!!!!

You can extend recording time for Glee so American Idol won't take time from it! That alone makes Tivo the Best!!

Cable Provider RCN is using the new TiVo as their main DVR, so when you call and order cable service with a DVR you get a TiVo. This is a good sign for both TiVo and RCN.

    Dear Perez,
Here is a math lesson on probability for you:

As this products popularity declines, the rate at which it declines is likely to get smaller and smaller? Why? There are less people in the pool of users who are actually able to unsubscribe. Check out the percentage of total users who unsubscribed and that will be a better estimation of the continuing popularity of the device. In fact, the percentage users will probably get smaller although more gradually so as the number of users remaining nears the number in which it will finally break the camels back so to speak. You see, there will always be people who remain loyal to Tivo for a variety of reasons, most commonly, LAZINESS!

hahaha!! i totally forgot about TiVo!
it's all about the directv bitches!

Hey Perez! I work with TiVo PR and sent you an email about the new TiVo Premiere - let me know what you think!

I work with Tivo from a business perspective and they have some exciting co-development projects with the usual suspects of Cable leaders. If anything, what you can expect is a cable provider box with Tivo technology and innovation inside. They have considerable Intellectual Property that they have rights to and now the major cable provider boxes need to work with Tivo or face a sizeable suit.

Tivo is here for a while….
