The American Idol season finale went down by 18% in the ratings - compared to the 2009 season finale!

Kind of surprising considering it was Simon Cowell's big send-off!

Did U tune in last night to see Lee DeWyze get crowned the new Idol?

      Lee is the worst winner this show has produced. It's obvious that whoever is voting is not voting based on talent. As long as you are a good looking white male you win. Am I wrong? Look at the last three seasons and tell me who won. Lee sings off key, all the time. Granted this season had no stand out talent, but come on, Crystal sang circles around him Tuesday night. Luckily Simon is gone and this show will soon be gone.

      paula….stoned…simon….rubbing his nipples…..ryan suppressing his homosexual desires…..ellen being awesome……randy being lame……..kara jizzing her pants over casey…..janet rocking a less than flattering outfit…..lame ford music video compilations…..alanis rocking the stage……bowersock faking human emotions…..lee being adorable and stunned. that is the night in a nut shell.

      i dvred it and watched it about an hour after the live version ended… maybe the ratings arent down at all- it could just be that more people are recording it instead of watching it live and all those people arent being counted. go lee! :o )

      Im so proud of Lee for winning the Idol crown. He's from Chicago my hometown, and last nite everyone was going crazy here after he won. He's so talented, down to earth, and hot. We all wish him the best of luck. Congrats Lee! We luv u

      Although I like Lee, he is too inconsistent. Crystal should have won it hands down. Even if you didn't like the song she sang, she sang it well. I didn't watch the show because I was out. I recorded it but now that I know who won I will NOT be watching. America got it wrong last year and again this year. I thought we were done with that after the whole Reuben and Clay thing season 2. Guess I was mistaken.

      "Idol" now averages 24 million viewers a broadcast, down from its high of 31 million in 2006. A Frank Sinatra-themed episode in early May that featured a special appearance by Lady Gaga drew one of the show's lowest ratings ever, dipping to 17.5 million viewers.

      Re: crazie – OMG Thank you! I thought I was the only one on planet earth who noticed Lee never sang in tune. That boy is TONE DEAF! And the judges would say to him "lil pitchy here and there but you are the BOMB!" This season, along with the past two, has proven to me more and more that producers pick who they want in the finale two and ultimately pimp out who they want to win. They wanted Lee to win, they were SCARED for Adam to win last year, and I think knew Cook would outsell Archie the year before that!

      With all that said…Screw Idol. My Simon is gone. No one can replace him and I only watched this season to watch him, per usual. Out of the Top 24 only two were Ido worthy, Crytal and Sibhon…everything else was a snooze.

      @crazie I don't know what show you've been watching but Lee was consistently fantastic throughout the show and definitely not "off key". And I wouldn't say he's the stereotypical good looking white boy, he's kinda cute I guess.

      I missed the first season, then watched the next few. I stopped watching after Carrie Underwood. Truthfully..just about anyone with voice coaches can sing…the real talent is songwriting.
      Come on! This is the show Taylor Hicks won!!

      I was soo happy Lee won ..im soo glad that both Lee and Crystal were in the bottom two because they both are soo talented :) and im sure both of them will have alot of success in the future. Lee was soo adorable he couldn't believe it at all .I started watching american idol in season 3 and i am pissed that Simon is leaving ..first Paula and now him ! ..i don't think ill be watching it anymore next season ill just watch Simons new show X-factor ..because American Idol is gonna suck now.Congrats to Lee !!

      Yes, last night was a good show. My favorite was Siobhan. The judges beat her down and she lost. I wish Lee well but he is not multi-talented like Crystal and Casey and Lee is not at ease on stage like Crystal and Casey. Lee needs a lot of polishing and seems to be a one trick pony as far as singing. I think the young girls that loved Casey voted for Lee after Casey lost. I hope I am wrong but I do not see a star in Lee.

      I watched but not to see who won or for Simon's send off. I wanted to see the real stars perform. Kind of like a mini-awards show with the guest appearances. If they weren't a part of it, I could have cared less. Music audiences are over kids playing music to win a prize. How about a show for the pure aspect of loving music with no carrot dangling in front of them?

      They're so fucking stupid for not asking Adam to perform. He basically owned idol's ass, and he should have been there to give Simon a proper farewell. He was the only god damn idol that got a standing ovation from him. It was a shame. It's obvious why the ratings were so low. Maybe cause the whole season SUCKED except the 2 eps that Adam mentored. I don't see much future for AI unfortunately..

      Good season, talented artists, but did anyone find that the most awkward finale, especially with all the Simon stuff. The way it was set up was terrible, but props to all the awesome performers they had come to sing.

      Heck, go to Itunes and listen to Lee's studio version of "Beautiful Day." The song is supposed to be uplifting. I bet Britney's team couldn't even make Lee sound good. It's sad when "Pants on the Ground" (also a single on Itunes) is superior to the winner's single. This is a sad day.

      I did and I was bored. I use to love this show- it had some magic to it… but not so much now- They had Miley, Jamie Fox as ppl to admire- they're not like Cher, Tina, Elton, Madonna… true legends of music. Paula is gone and now Simon, so I don't think I will tune in at all next year.

      I heard beforehand that Lee won, so I did not watch. Teeny bops vote and most know nothing about talent, stage presence, energy, etc. Crystal should have won. She'll make out like Adam did. Now what was the name of the guy that won last season?

      I wasn't going to watch because I was sure Crystal was going to win from the way everyone was strokin her d*ck all season. She was so cocky and her voice is mediocre. Lee was strong and humble and in the end, his personality won it for him.. I was really excited for him. And I thought it was a surprisingly good finale!

      Nope cuz i knew checking out DialIdol.com who the winner was and it wasn't Crystal but the typical lame ass winner as last year. A "commercial" "safe" singer who may sell a few CD's and has the average voice that doesn't have a range. Adam was the Idol last year as was Crystal this year but society is pathetically afraid to accept diveristy! So BESIDES the BIG FACTOR that neither of these past 2 "Idols" can sing…OMG my child might turn out gay, gasp if Adam wins….OMG my dtr might want dreads and piercings….What to do!!!!!!! Uh…it's called acceptance and unconditional love and parental guidance. I'm a mother of 3 girls who totally get it and am happy that they are being raised this way. So once again, let down by America…and with Simon gone, this chic is officially done w/AI. But wish Lee all the best as well as Kris…what's his name :)

I know I was appalled that they would show your Donkey Face on the Air - I thought Hee Haw had come back on the air. That would probably account for the low ratings. If they would book you and your Sliimy II I'm sure viewers probably figured it wasn't worth watching. Also - Simon Fuller should really consider letting you join forces with him. Career suicide if you ask me.

      Re: crazie – I respectfully disagree. I really like Lee, and I don't find him attractive at all. So that part is wrong. No offense, but you probably just got your hopes up that Crystal would win, and when she didn't your first instinct was to attack Lee. They're both really talented, and both will (hopefully) become successful. Lee already won and you can't change it. Let it go.

      Also, the voting might be biased at times, but technically if not many people voted for Crystal because of her looks obviously they weren't interested, and wouldn't have bought her records anyways. So I guess in this world sometimes it doesn't really matter what the talent is. It's more about who's got the whole package. Look at Lady Gaga.. she would be nothing without her whole crazy getup.

      america ( or the producers ) got it right. lee will do much better than bowersox. every one of her songs sounded like a janis joplin wannabe. she has no fortitude. remember how Idol changed the performance nights for her because of her illness? whatever happened to "the show must go on"? remember in the middle of the season when she wanted to drop out of the show. she has no backbone and a life of touring would swallow her up. she's weak. go lee! he has a great raspy voice.

The majority of people here are talking about how bad the show sucks and that they never watched or haven't since like the first season…then why click on AND COMMENT ON a blog about it?       There was a crew that took to the stage at the very end of Janet's performace when the screen came down to cover her dancers. Among them was a woman with some dramatic hair, but affter the commercial they were gone. Who were they and what was the next performance which followed Janet?

      Re: OnFire – you obviously watched since you claim to know so much about it. Personally if I hate a show bad enough to post SEVERAL negative comments about it, I would eventually just stop watching. That's what people with COMMON SENSE do.
