Alias Reboot?

That could be interesting — or terrible!

An insider at ABC reveals that talks are going on at the network to reboot J.J. Abrams' Alias!

The people in development are considering a new version that would borrow some elements of the original series that starred Jennifer Garner, but also maintain it's own level of uniqueness.

Apparently the network is concerned about losing the Lost audience, so they're thinking a rebooted Abrams show could help retain them.

What do U think?

words cannot express the joy this post brought me !! LOVED alias with JG. Bring her back !

  3. 3

Jen was youthful & cute 5 years ago, not so much now.

  4. 4

    Mixed feelings!
Alias is my favorite show EVER, and one of the true greats of modern tv and i think JJ would make sure not to dissapoint, BUT- Alias was fine the way it ended, and i dont like the idea of an extension.

  5. 5

why reboot? they left the show open, pick that shit back up!

  6. 6

I absolutely loved Alias, but I dunno if it'll be as good without Jennifer Garner.

Just bring alias back, but start over with the storylines - bring the whole cast back of course, (san the tiny old weird guy), make it not as pseudo-confusing, or as stupid as the alias movie (MI3) and there u go - Alias II

  8. 8

    nah…will really miss Lost :(

  9. 9

i am a huge fan of lost. and i am really going to miss it. i am trying now to find a show that could possibly replace it. i also loved the show alias. it is kinda early for another. but it would def attract all the lost and former alias fans back in my opinion.

  10. 10

alias and lost are both the best shows EVER. jj is a GOD. but i agree with that other comment. why reboot. they left the show open. they should just continue it!

  11. 11

    Better yet, reboot Buffy!

  12. 12

love alias and i am sooo sad about losing lost.

  13. 13

Umm, w/o Jennifer Garner, why bother?

    Without Victor Garber? Why bother?

Seriously . . . not even worth it. They'll just get some stupid-ass girl to replace Sydney Bristow and she will absolutely fail on all counts.

  14. 14

Only if Jennifer Garner still stars in it. noone else could do that like she could

  15. 15

Alicia Keys has just announced she is pregnant and engaged but you'd rather post this lame news instead? Granted both are rather boring but the Alicia news is a bit better than this!

  16. 16

Alias without Jennifer Garner, Michael Vartan, Victor Garber, and Lena Olin would not be the same. Bring em back!

  17. 17

    YES! Bring it back!

  18. 18

Y not just make an Alias movie with JG, VG & the rest of the cast? Way better than some lame ass attempted remake!

  19. 19

Precious precious Mario. Please for only one time can you please wish happiness on someone other than yourself.. You will see that this a good thing and bring back to you such happiness. God be with you my loving S*****G

  20. 20

    Alias Seasons 1 - 3 = awesome

    Alias Seasons 4 -5 = FAIL

  21. 21

    Loved Alias!

Just leave out the faaily angst. the mother stuff, and this time and stick to ONLY spy plotlines.

Also, the Rumbaldi plotline was tooo much!

  22. 22

    Oh, it's a "remake", NOT a reboot.

English, it's not just a second language!

  23. @v@ says – reply to this

    23

A continuing espionage role featuring Jen could spice up week night t.v. for sure.
    Bring. Back. Michael. Vartan.

  24. 24

Lost's audience and Alias audience have nothing in common really.. They are two widely different shows. Also the people who liked Alias don't want to see a new Jennifer Garner she was the only person who was perfect for that role. They really need to make something new and interesting instead of all these ridicules remakes, i don't get it?! Do they sit around every day getting payed a ton of money to take other people's ideas?

  25. 25

    no no no Dosomething original

  26. 26

Hard to think of Alias without Jenny Garner and Vic Garber, but I'll definitely give it a shot.

  27. 27

Alias reboot - if done right: YES!!
It's my favorite TV series of all time.
Maybe it would work with the old cast training the new cast? Would be fun to see them back too!
If no reboot, I'd take a movie too. (if 24 can do it!)

  28. 28

Re: tallchick – WHAT IS I WAS PREGNANT .. WOULD YOU ..CARE…NO EXACTLY.. SO WHY DO YOU CARE IF aLICIA kEYS IS PREGGERS…

  29. 29

I loved Alias with Jennifer Garner! I hope they bring her back…the show wouldn't be the same without her!

  30. 30

Bring Alias Back with Jennifer Garner!

  31. 31

    Horrible Idea!
It was an amazing show in its prime, but once Michael Vartan left, they changed the intro, and they tried to recreate the show using new people, most people stopped watching anyway. They won't regain a Lost audience with that show. Plus, isn't the CW doing basically the same show with a revamp of la femme nakita with Nakita?

  32. 32

Re: Starflower11 – I AGREE REBOOT BUFFY! but i loved ALIAS to and this would be AWESOME

  33. 33

YES YES YES!!! Can someone start a petition? Alias was, by far one of the best shows ever on TV. If you have never seen Alias, watch it from the very first episode and follow it closely. It is not just another spy show and Seasons 1 and 2 were just amazing (like mini movies).

  34. 34

YES, DO IT! Alias has been my favorite show for eight years now, I'm probably much more than the average fan as I've collected the entire book series and spent hundreds on merchandise. Despite being a huge Garner fan I could definitely still be into the show if they rebooted it. That's what I thought they were trying to do in season 5 with the addition of Rachel Nichols and Balthazar Getty. This better pan out to be true or my high hopes are gonna be put down.

  35. 35

I have watched every episode of ALIAS from the start since 2001. The best way to catch up is to do an ALIAS marathon on DVD which I like to do every few years now. I have found that following these shows on regular TV with the breaks in between (sometimes weeks at a time) cause confusion for some especially with LOST. Perhaps JJ and his team are doing this because La Femme Nikita is also being remade on the CW? LFN was also an amazing show and was first but low budget compared to Alias.

  36. 36

Yay!!! Super excited if this is true… it was a great programme… would want the orginal crew back though.

  37. 37

Awful photo of her. I thought it was Jim Carrey's twin sister at first.

    38

I'd watch.. but without Jennifer Garner, that would be pretty tough. I am still waiting for the Alias movie, the original cast all have great movie careers so there is no reason why it couldn't be done. JJ Abrahams must write and direct though….

  39. 39

The CW will be pissed, they just picked up Nikita.

  40. 40

This is like the the reboot of Cupid (Jeremy Piven and Paula Marchall) didn't make it and the reboot lasted less time. Only thing I can think is to pick up where they left off. Sloane anybody? And Weiss (Greg Grunberg) is out a job anyway. So why not? Bring Torchwood across the pond with the cast thats left all 3.

Total rebppt would be horrible.JG. VG. MV. Don't kill a show again.

  41. 41

Don't know if its worth. anyway i used to love ALIAS

  42. 42

what about just brining back flashforward??? i mean alot of lost fans are fans of flashforward? wouldn't that just be easier?

  43. 43

It's too late now, even I forgot story line!

  44. Faux says – reply to this

    44

    OMG I LOVED ALIAS

  45. 45

Why is it that Hollywood can't seem to come up with new fresh ideas, they are always remaking old movies or reviving old tv shows….

  46. 46

I sincerely hope network and media executives take heed to the comments posted on this site, and around the web.

I am A huge Lost fan, wasn't one when they first started. But grew to love it in less than five minutes of wating in the dentist's office, watching the launch of The Raft, and subsequent kidnapping of Walt. WALT!

I had never watched Alias, though knew a lot about it. It just didn't seem like my kinda show.

Lost will be missed, can't wait for the Epilogue, commentary, documentaries, Seanie B videos, and of course THE MOVIE!

  47. 47

Only if J-Gar is still in it… I wouldn't watch otherwise.

  48. 48

JJ Abrams on a new project - YES. Alias II - Definitely not. Its over. There are new plots out there. And its too early for a revival/ encore/ rehash/ continuation. When it ended, it had run its course.

  49. 49

Abrams can suck it. He fucked over LOST fans, so boo hoo.

  50. 50

did that show get cancelled or something?

  51. 51

Most media outlets are still only covering TV. Why not cover what we're watching and include the series and shows on youtube etc. This is one reason a lot of media outlets are going away. They miss youtube TV, zine and blog lit, myspace music, etc. etc.

  52. 52

I loved Alias but I would only watch a rebooted version if Jennifer Garner and others from the original cast came back. Seeing as the Smoke Monster killed Greg Grunberg it might be hard for him to reprise his role. Just kidding.

  53. Heh says – reply to this

    53

I think that's kind of an insult to the LOST audience ..at least come up with some original programming, I never watched the old Alias but I dont know if I would want to see a recycled version either

  54. 54

I doubt ABC will be able to reboot Alias due to JJ Abrams producing Undercovers on NBC which seems very similar to Alias and would be a direct competitor. The only way Abrams might get on board would be if Undercovers gets canceled which I doubt as the trailer seems very promising.

  55. 55

Evey show has it's season, and this one is over. Leave well enough alone.

    56

Alias was good, but Nikita with Peta Wilson and Roy Dupuis was riveting, and far more frightening mentally. Must watch for the new Nikita, but am not expecting the suspense level and writing of the original t.v. series.

  57. 57

    how stupid. lost sucked anyway.

    58

i absolutley LOVED alias….but i would most def need jenifer garner and bradley cooper to be back on it….that would be bad ass!!
