“Yes the split is real," a publicist for The Hills star, Montag, says. "Like to say separation for now. As you can imagine it is crazy right now. She's trying to lay low the next couple days. What I can say is that it's a separation for now, not divorce.”

I really hope this true… I think that Spencer calling the cops on her mom was real. Her mom seemed in real pain when she sees heidi for the first time after her surgeries. Her dad made a comment saying there is no reason for the cops to have been called. I think he finally regulated on his daughter and her bastard husband. Publicity stunt anyone? She's been told Spencer is a liability - so, she's laying low for awhile and releasing this "seperation" media report so future jobs may become available. Perhaps Michael Bay is too afraid Spencer will beat him up if he hires Heidi and treats her like shit.
