Del Toro Pulls Out From The Hobbit!
We don't think this movie is ever going to get made!
There has been nothing but DRAMA, DRAMA, DRAMA when talking about the much-anticipated prequel to Lord Of The Rings, but now, the flick gets its latest and hardest blow yet.
Guillermo Del Toro has just announced that he has pulled out from directing The Hobbit.
Citing the issues with the studios and the constant delays. Guillermo posted yesterday that while he will remain on the writing team for the film, he will no longer direct the franchise. He explained:
"In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming 'The Hobbit,' I am faced with the hardest decision of my life. After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien's Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures."
We can't blame the guy! Two years of being jerked around would be enough to make us pack it all up and peace out too!
But Guillermo was Peter Jackson's top choice for this flick! Is there anyone else geeky enough to get behind this thing?

Guillermo del Toro is an amazing director!! "Pan's Labyrinth" is amazing and I was shocked that it didn't win the oscar for Best Foreign Film years back … another typical jew movie won. God I hate Hollywood at times.
Let it get done the way it should have been done to begin with. Let Peter direct it!

Boy did Toro's Hellboy 2 SUCK. uh, PETER JACKSON would be a WAY better choice (keeping all movies consistent). Hopefully after a couple of more bombs Jackson will sign on to direct.. it is his destiny… not the crap he's been doing ever since.

I hope Jackson steps in as director. The problem here is MGM is near-bankrupt and can't secure financing for this - or any other film. They need to get their financial shit together ASAP because the own much of the rights.
