Reese To Star In A New Movie About Scientology?

Reese Witherspoon has reportedly been offered a role in a new drama about Scientology, written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

While the actual screenplay doesn't mention the cult religion, sources are saying that there are several similarities between the main character and Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard.

If Reese decides to take the role, she'll likely be playing Mary Sue the young pregnant wife to Philip Seymour Hoffman's character, who is titled "The Master." In real life, Mary Sue was also the name of L. Ron Hubbard's wife.

This is going to be good! And PT Anderson is just the guy to make this work!

Will Paul Thomas Anderson create a role in the movie for TommyGirl, his Stepford Wife and possessed spawn-of-the-devil rug rat kid? Or would that be deemed "type casting"?

  6. 6

    Who's going to play Xenu?

  7. 7

I wanna see!! Bobby: you're the skank. In case you were wondering.

  8. 8

OMG, I love Reese….she is certainly beautiful!!!

  9. 9

Wouldn't exactly call her young she is in her 30's.

  10. 10

Wow- this would be quite a step up for Reese. She should do it.

  11. 11

Well, she's brave if this is true. Her life will probably be in danger after ole Ron Hubby finds out about this!

  12. 12

This is very brave or very foolish for Reesey, since Phillip Seymour Hoffman is a very, very good actor and Reese is not! LOL! Reese's future lies in the direction of a TV sitcom if she's lucky, followed by a job selling purses on QVC like Joan Rivers with a fake southern accent.

  13. 13

If true, then I wouldn't go near the project. Sounds like any profits would be eaten up by lawsuits.

And besides, fact is stranger than fiction. Nothing can top the real drama of Scientology.

Religion? they all seem like cults to me.

  17. 17

Great Lindsay Lohan vechile: drug addicted starlet is saved from the gutter by auditing and 'church' penance; marries closet case; co-stars with same in "The Sword and The Sandal"; is killed crossing street to buy two-for-one eclairs.

….oh no…Scientology….here we go….if Mel Gibson directed I would so totally see it…

….Reese is just another Hollywood whore….she had a perfect life, perfect hot husband, perfect children, perfect career, and STILL the slag was not satisfied….

  19. 19

well, I must admit…this cult (scientology) is weirder to me than catholicism. which is pretty cussed up if you ask me. but them again do is islam…don't know much about judaism, buddhism or the rest…but it seems to me that scientology is exceptionally cussed up.
that said, can't wait to see the film! break a leg Reese!

  20. 20

but them again do is islam…
but then again, so is islam…wow, proof reading IS a good idea! lol

Re: MerryAnn – step up? she's an oscar winner!

  22. 22

I hope Paul Thomas Anderson hangs this bullshit religion out to dry. Founded by a C-grade science fiction author who practiced satanism and performed abortions on his own wife…yeah, rip them apart PTA.

  23. 23

This has all the potential of being a GREAT film.
    .
    Do it. Please!!!!
    .
This evil CULT must be exposed as widely as possible.

There is a great German (with English subtitles) movie on YouTube (in 9 parts) called "Until Nothing Remains". It is superb.

This upcoming movie could be even better. Way better.

Re: jillbeans – Well thirty-something isn't exactly OLD either. Unfortunately, only people who have yet to grow up/mature mentally, share your sentiment.

  25. 25

That should rile up some of her colleagues some. I rather think she'd be smart to pass on this. Go on to some less controversial fluff that she is good at.

  26. 26

Scientology is a creepy religion, I'm sorry, but the more I hear about it, it is like what!?!?!? People believe in this, sounds insane. :o

Wow, good luck making that movie. Get good industry lawyers. The Scientologists are pro-active and pre-emptive about anything involving Scientology. They followed and harassed BBC reporter and journalist John Sweeney while he was doing a piece about Scientology for the show Panorama. It wasn't pretty, and is Easy to find on the net.

I hope this movie SHREDS that evil cult.

    GO REESE!

  29. 29

Philip Seymour Hoffman would make a fab LRH - he's an excellent actor and I could just picture him protraying that freaking crazy, lunatic of a "man" so very well. i am one of many who have been subjected to listening to hubbard's voice hour upon hour before i had the courage to walk away. can't wait to see it! and kudos to anderson for having the balls to even make it (even if "names have been changed")

  30. 30

PT Anderson is good director, this movie will come out very well!

  31. 31

Oooh, Philip Seymour Hoffman is exactly the caliber of creepy I'd expect for that role. And I love anything with Ms Witherspoon in it!

  32. 32

    this movie sounds like shit……..

  33. 33

wait is this movie going to be against the shitty religion..if it is am all for it. and i hope tom cruise and his family get front row seats to the premiere
