Such a relief to listen to an intelligent, thought-provoking politician. They are a rarity these days.

    mario and his "ph"ag agenda………………

Colin Powell is a lying hypocritical sellout. He knew there were no WMDs in Iraq, he KNEW IT!!! He was too chicken to tell the truth. He's the lowest kind of life form, a monster. And people, he is not "African American" any more than Mario is (we are all from Africa originally).

I would like him to die a painful death, for all the pain his cowardice has caused.

frankly no one gives a shit if you are gay or not serving in the military force. isn't it an equal rights already that they are able to serve? even so, i've known girls who are in the military who dressed like a dude and everyone knew she was gay and nobody cares!!! i really don't know what the fucking issue is. they are still able to serve, period.

@ contrarianchick, you have some very valid points there.

As long as gay guys aren't allowed in combat. (infantry) than yay go for it.

I think he gave a very fair response.

Re: NookiesWA – uhhh…why not? As far as I can tell, skill not sexual orientation would matter in this instance.

I am just offended that Perez post these pro gay things, but he never participates or gives his time to gay groups..

Re: erikalea – agreed. my boyfriend is bisexual. and he's infantry.

i must be the only one that think don't ask don't tell is fine!

Secretary of State Colin L. Powell was/is not a hypocrite or a coward. He announced his resignation in 2004, ending four years of battles with Vice President Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld over the course of U.S. foreign policy. He urged Bush to get UN approval before entering the war. He parted ways with the administration due to a strong difference of opinion in handling Iraq and US foreign policy…a coward and hypocrite does that NOT make.

He's an insignificant RHINO. I'm thinking he should come out of the closet. Thank God he's not leading our brave men and women now… he's lost it.

Im an Army Infantryman, and I dont care if the dude fighting next to me is straight or gay as long as he does his job well! Thats what matters.

What a shame that Colin Powell did not run for President. He is such an elegant statesman. He is nothing like the empty pop-star President that we have now.

  15. 15

Excuse me? NOW after all of time?!

Why not do that when he was in "power"? It's easy to criticize now that he is on the sidelines..

GAYS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED INTO THE MILITARY. IT IS A QUESTION OF A PERSONS CHARACTER AND MORALITY AND BEING GAY REFLECTS POORLY ON ONE'S CHARACTER. WHAT WOULD BE NEXT–ALLOWING THIEVES, MURDERERS, MOLESTERS AND RAPISTS INTO THE MILITARY?

OPEN HOMOSEXUALS IN THE ARMY???? WHATEVER HAPPENED TO COMMON DECENCY!!!
