A funeral is being arranged for this weekend for the late actor Gary Coleman. His lawyer, Randy Kester, announced this afternoon that the service will take place either on Friday or Saturday, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

At this time, the family has yet to decide on whether to have a private family service or a public one to commemorate Gary's life. However, Mr. Kester did release the following statement to clarify some of the lingering questions concerning Gary's funeral arrangements, among other things. The statement reads:

“The funeral will take place towards the end of the week either Friday or Saturday in Salt Lake City. It will be at a funeral home and the family is still deciding if it will be a private event or it will be open to his fans too.

Although Gary was not a deeply religious person, he did believe in an after life. Although I cannot discuss personal details like if he had a legal will or if he will be buried or cremated.

I just spoke with his wife Shannon and she is still shocked that Gary has gone, but she is getting on with planning the funeral now and taking care of the business aspect of things.

I’m not aware that Gary had mountains of debt or anything like that and he was getting-by doing jobs here and there.

It’s sad that he died aged only 42, but the doctors did not think he would make it past 25 because all of his health issues.”

Here's hoping there is an afterlife for Gary and he is happier there now.

We continue to send our condolences to his family and friends in this most difficult of times.

well, if you believe in "life after death," you're religious.

condolences to his family and friends, but honestly, he looked like a freaking monster.

The poor broken hearted wife. boo hoo. Isn't she the one that had him arrested for domestic violence. His passing was sad, I hope his will leaves everything to charity. Perhaps a charity that encourages people to be organ donors?

Shouldn't that be 'Gary Coleman TO be Laid To Rest This Weekend'? In it's current form it would imply it has already happened.

contrarianchick - if you believe in 'life after death' you are considered to be 'spiritual', not necessarily 'religious'. He did not follow the belief's of any specific religion, nor was he part of any religious order.
