"It is the Mission of ARF to provide shelter and sanctuary to abandoned, abused and neglected companion animals awaiting adoption in Mississippi, focusing on the metropolitan tri-county area.

We rescue, rehabilitate and socialize our rescues, instill a the animals ability to trust, love and be loved either again or for the first time.

Rankin County, where ARF is located, has one of the highest number of animal control pick ups in the State, and within 5 days, a very high number of these animals are euthanized. The organization wishes to make a change in the reality of this as well as in the mindset of a community who accepts this as a norm. We wish to effect change through education and activism, as well as to provide an alternative to the only animal control option the community has had: euthanization of stray and unwanted companion animals. ARF strongly supports spay/neuter policies to reduce companion animal over population and follows strict spay/neuter policies with its own animals pre-adoption."

…and how are we to feed these animals?….grind up more animals?….we don't have enough food to feed PEOPLE….GET REAL!!!….it is so cute to grind up animals and dry them up into pellets or keep them moist and feed them to other animals just so we can have pets….

      …animal lovers are so selfish….

To Tube Steak: The ONLY reason I looked at the comments was to see if there was some insensitive, idiotic, major asshole, full of anger and no soul. Surprise! I found you! You are a hater, without a life who gets his kicks by pissing everybody off. There is so much love and compassion for animals in this country, but you need some excitement so you and people like you write hateful things just to get a little attention in the day. You got my attention, which is exactly what you wanted. I should not even address you, but I could not pass on the chance to express how pathetic you are, and what a Loser you portray yourself to be. I bet you hate to see all of us who have pets and love, hug, and play with them everyday - I think deep down inside you would like to be a dog, because you are not getting any of the love and attention most of them do! You make me sick!

Laluccina, just ignore hateful fools like Tube Steak…. he and his ilk are not worth getting upset over.

Re: Laluccina – …not that you will see this…what did I say that was hateful?…the truth…if they captured and ate there own food that would be one thing…for us to capture/trap other helpless animals and grind up other animals for artificially bred and maintained "pets" to feed our own insecure love that we should be getting from OTHER people is different….most of the pets today could not exist on their own…

…what you said was more hateful then what I said here….love, hug, feed, play, and change/wipe/pick up after all the abandoned children of the world…THAT is where our compassion should go….imagine if those billions of dollars from the pet industry went to starving children???….you are the selfish one….when you feed your pet think of the child that is going without food….

Re: VeganVal – …and btw I am a Vegan and support Peta…go watch some of their videos on youtube…it will open your eyes, especially to the pet industry….just terrible…pet owners are selfish….if you were a true vegan you would cringe when you opened any pet food…

…my avatar is a protest to the girl in PA that tortured cats by piercing their ears and selling them….

….I don't think there is anything wrong with police dogs, cadaver dogs, etc….

I'm familiar with ARF, even though I am several states away. When Katrina left abandoned animals everywhere, ARF went into action and rescued untold numbers of animals, whether they had room or not. Its a small group doing a large amount of work, so if you have extra funds, its a good place to donate.

Thank you so much for posting this. I live in Mississppi and it is horrible here and everywhere in the south. I have a foster that is being transfered to New York for adoption. Everyone here is overflowing.
