Glee To Perform At The Tonys!
We kind of figured, but it is still exciting to hear none-the-less.
This year' Tony awards is all about the star power! Along with planning a HUGE performance by Green Day to celebrate their Broadway show, American Idiot, the producers of the Tonys have just announced that Glee stars and Broadway vets, Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison, are also slated to perform.
No word what the duo will sing or if they will perform together, but if we might offer a suggestion, we'd have Miz Michele belt out some Barbara!
We know she has the pipes and to hear that girl sing Don't Rain On My Parade live is a like having a religious experience.
Matt can stand behind her and twirl his hair!

Perez- your ideas are all well and good. But as a HUGE Broadway fan…The Tony's are MY Oscars. And the FACTS are….Lea and Matt are no longer on Broadway…and while it's a nice idea to gain viewers to have them present….maybe even HOST…..having them perform in lieu of one of the shows ACTUALLY nominated…well it just SUCKS.
This is the ONE time of year when we (Broadway fans) get to tune in to mainstream tv and see OUR celebs…..but over the last 5 years their air time has been replaced with shitty medleys by Rap Stars, extended bits from movie stars…it's just ridiculous. Broadway's dying…..you could get people to actually SEE a show if the show could appear on TV long enough to SELL IT. Lea Michele singing "Don't Rain On My Parade" would be LOVELY…if she were playing Fanny Brice in a revival of Funny Girl. But she's not. And quite frankly…there's a ton of other Broadway Actresses more qualified than she…..it just sucks
why is everyone talking so much shit on this girl? she has a crazy good voice, and yes, they use wayyyyy too much autotune on glee when they really don't need to, for her at least. that's what makes people think she's not taht talented of a singer, but if you see her live she seriously has an incredible voice. and of course she doesn't look good when belting out a song, neither does anyone who isn't lipsynching. she actually puts emotion into it when she sings, which is nice. and i think she's really beautiful and the fact that she looks different makes her stand out more, in a good way. if she ever got plastic surgery i'd be upset.
having said that, the only reason they're performing at the tonys is obviously because the execs want to attract a larger audience, which is dumb but whatever, I don't hate it
