The World Cup Belongs To U2!

Hope Bono will be watching!

ESPN struck a deal with U2 to use their music exclusively in their World Cup coverage.

Along with using their music, the South Africa's Soweto Gospel Choir also recorded versions of some U2 songs for the network to use and ESPN took footage from the band's 2009 concert at the Rose Bowl for some of their ads.

Very cool!

Are U guys getting pumped for the World Cup (and all the hot, HAWT, sweaty players)???

It would be better for U2 if Ireland wasn't ROBBED by france. But I'm not bitter. Go US and Brazil.

Fuck U2. I'm so sick of them begging Americans to fix Africa's AIDS problem. We have an oil leak caused by the Brits to fix, so just give your own fucking record money! Maybe Bono will get murdered by some jig while there trying to help them. Notice that South Africa has turned into a shithole over the last twenty years, wonder what happened to cause that?

  14. 14

Re: Hellbound Heathen – You really don't know what you're talking about, do you? The "Brits" didn't CAUSE the oil leak. Why is no one also blaming the Swiss, since Transocean is a Swiss company? It's just as idiotic! Likely because you have absolutely no idea what went on, but hear BP on the news, so start spewing shit. Transocean owns the rig and tests that could have prevented the explosion, and are required, didn't take place. But, no, you can't blame the rig's owner or the company man on the rig (likely an American) that failed to carry out tests - you blame the executives sitting in London that had no part in it. Idiot.
11 men on the rig floor also died, but no one mentions that. No… you just mention that the Brits "caused" an oil spill.
Learn about the issue before attempting to place blame.

    U2 = sell-outs.

  21. 21

…Because clearly, Bono and U2 are short on cash.

Hey assholes- why not give all that ESPN money to Global Warming or Africa? Oh, that's right, your private jets and $10K sunglasses encrusted with diamonds and gypsy tears need upkeep, while everyone else who earns minimum wage or a normal salary should be the ones giving away all their money to your charities, or buying your shitty $100 RED brand jeans at the Gap. Go eff yourselves.

Re: Serena Loves Mario – So BP doesn't stand for British Petroleum? Transocean has never had an accident, and BP has paid enough in negligence fines for other careless acts that have killed people as well. If BP wasn't so worried about trying to be cheap there would have been no spill in the first place. But back to Bono (and other self righteous asshole celebrities), why no concert or cleanup in the Gulf? Not enough blacks? Not enough AIDS?

  23. 23

HOW COULD THEY!!!!!!!! by this they are supporting the world cup and going against Ireland THEIR OWN COUNTRY!!! Ireland was knocked out in the qualifier by France cheating! i feel so betrayed

  24. 24

Re: Hellbound Heathen – You obviously know nothing about the oil industry…

  25. 25

Re: Serena Loves Mario – Well enlighten then, Snaggletooth. A BP employee hits the lever that ruins the blowout preventer. A BP exec then demands during a safety meeting that drilling go ahead as scheduled instead of more safety checks? Unlike you, I actually do research before pretending to be an expert. How is BP an innocent party to this?

  26. 26

Re: Hellbound Heathen – Snaggletooth??? WTF?
I never said it wasn't BP's fault. You blamed the BRITISH, when it was an AMERICAN crew that happen to work for a British company. I simply pointed out that the Swiss are just as guilty, if you're laying blame on entire nations. You also seem to know little about oil rig operations, as you think just one company is to blame and you think BP executives are responsible for everyday safety checks on Transocean rigs. Nice "research", but you clearly know nothing about oil rigs, except what you've read in the papers.

  27. 27

Re: Hellbound Heathen – are you seriously suggesting that you deserve a benefit concert right now? yeah i'm sure kids in africa and other poverty stricken countries are feeling really sorry for you lot at the minute

  28. 28

Re: otter1993 – She's probably one of those ignorant assholes burning the Union Jack, since she blames every single Brit for something that Americans who happen to work for a "British" company did. She's not mentioning Haliburton, is she? No, don't blame an American company who had just as many workers on that rig that should have been carrying out the same safety checks. She thinks every single person who is at fault worked for BP…ignorant twat.
Yes, what happened was terrible and something needs to be done, but the most powerful nation on earth can deal with things on their own. Let Bono concentrate on people that really need help.
(And this is from an American)

  29. 29

Re: Serena Loves Mario – haha yeah, i'm english but have nothing against you americans but people do it here too, they wonder why we're giving money to poverty stricken countries when we're in a recession (well apparently coming out of it). It just frustrates me because they don't realise how lucky they are. Yes he/she is just trying to point the blame at someone for the oil leak without looking at all the facts.
