Yes, there is a double standard when it comes to promiscuity among men and women, but I think what concerns most people is the fact that Miley is an UNDERAGE little girl acting like a total slut. What kind of message does that send to young girls who idolize her?

And there's a difference between people fawning over a celeb guys hott bod, and what Miley Cyrus is doing. Miley's posting practically nude pictures of herself around the internet (unnecessary, has nothing to do with her career) shes giving lap dances to 40 something old men, kissing girls and going to 18+ nightclubs just to grind on guys and "act cool" (drink, have sex, etc, wouldnt surprise me) AND okay so she wears skimpy/slutty outfits. The reason most people freak out about it i think is simply because her fanbase is pretty much all young girls, and she's sending them the message that it's okay to parade your body around for sex and attention, it's okay if nobody respects you any more. Mileys trying so hard to get the "older, more mature" audience to like her instead of just the young kid audience. She obviously doesn't know that you don't need to be a fucking whore to do that. It's really not about what you wear. In Make it or Break it or movies like Stick It (gymnastic films) there is no issue.
It's how she dances in her outfits that make it provocative. When she goes to the beach in her bikini there's no issue, it's this pole dancing and the whole sweaty strip club image she's trying to gloss her videos with. And the tackiness!

Yes, I absolutely agree with her. I'm not a Miley fan, in fact she rather annoys me, but good for her. Her comment just reflects our society in which men have traditionally been praised for being promiscuous while women are considered whores for it…and it just follows from there - anything sexual a woman does will be criticized harshly while men doing the same types of actions are not as criticized or not at all.
So I appreciated women like her, christina aguilera, and others, helping to break out these social barriers, because it is not right.
Still, not everything sexual has to be shown in public and not everything must be about sex…so sometimes I think they do go a bit overboard. - they tend to only feed into a system them, where women are for men's viewing pleasure and nothing sells w/o a sexual message.
