Very sad.

Grammy winning country singer Jimmy Dean has passed away. He was 81 years old.

Dean also owned the Jimmy Dean Meat Co, which he sold to Sara Lee Corp. in 1984. He is survived by his wife, three children, and two grandchildren.

We are sincerely sorry for their loss.

He was a really nice guy. I used to see him and his wife in the Richmond airport with some frequency, and he was always pleasant to anyone who spoke to him.
