Equality For All! Federal Judge To Make Decision Regarding Proposition 8!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayLegal MattersPolitikLGBT

Let's all keep our fingers crossed!

Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker has heard both arguments from the opposing views, and now will be determining whether or not Proposition 8, the ban placed on gay marriage in California, is actually constitutional!

Attorneys Andy Pugno and Charles Cooper are defending the legality of Proposition 8, and Pugno writes:

"Historic marriage has its roots in pairing a man to a woman and has served as the foundation of the family and society as a whole. To change the definition of marriage… would result in such a profound change to the structure and public meaning of marriage as to severely damage society, possibly beyond repair."

AKA bullshiz!

Meanwhile, former Republican Solicitor General Ted Olsen and David Boies have represented the plaintiffs, and argue that Proposition 8 is "the result of disapproval or animus against a politically unpopular group" and represents "a backlash that stripped gays and lesbians of the rights previously conferred upon them by the California Supreme Court…and violates the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment."

Judge Walker isn't expected to make his decision for another few weeks, but regardless of the outcome, the ruling is expected to be appealed all the way through the system until it reaches the U.S. Supreme Court!

It's time for a change, people! Equal rights FOR ALL!

Mario aka. Pedophile Hilton is going to jail and its about time to you child pornographer. yOU'LL LOOK GOOD IN THAT ORANGE SUIT ASSHOLE!!!!

  3. 3

Great! Keep posting you (alleged) child pornographer and pedophile. I hope you go to jail. In jail, they may teach you to be more ladylike and be bubba's bitch.

  4. 4

Now no one is going to vote no on Prop 8 with people like you supporting it. If alleged child pornographers are for it, then I should be against it.

  5. 5

The people of California have already rendered their judgment.

  6. 6

If you are for it or against it doesn't matter at this point - the vote was passed!
Just because you don't like the outcome doesn't mean you have to vote it to death over and over until you get the results you want!
    The majority has spoken no?
    holy Christ False democracy

All the people who GIVE tolerance can receive tolerance. Therefore, because of your Jesus comments, you don't deserve this. You are a hateful person that doesn't deserve anything good he gets since all he gives is hate. Shame on you, Perez.

  8. 8

OKAY PEOPLE LETS GET OVER PEREZ POSTING THAT PICTURE, jesus christ if you hate him so much why do you support his website? anyways, i think we should just change this whole marriage situation for EVERYONE seriously, it could be a good way to get away from the stereotypical wife and husband and it wouldnt be sooo rooted in religion. i dont get why people care so much if gays get married anyways? i dont see how it affects anyone that is outside their relationship. and marriage doesnt preserve the family structure anyways, tons of heterosexual couples end up getting divorce or ignore their children, screwing them up either way (look at hollywood)

  9. 9

i'm sick of hearing about………..gays can't get married - marriage is between a man and a woman….let em have unions with the same rights as marriage (federally recognized) and call it just that - a union…..add gay before union if you wanna since some of these gays need the world to know they are………

  10. 10

ABC TV has announced they are pulling all advertising from Fatboy's site, VH1/MTV to follow along with other corporate advertisers.

    Good riddance you cocksucking pedophile!!!!!!!

  11. 11

News flash for the dipshit….. Courts CAN NOT make laws…. only congress can make law…. what the Cali Supreme Court did was not within their power.

  12. 12

Child pornographers should go to jail..advertisers that support child pornographers should go out of business.

  13. 13

You cannot demand other giving tolerance to assholes like you, Mario, when you're the least tolerant person in the world. You're a foul mouthed leach who deserves to die!! You disgusting pedophile!!

  14. 14

I'm a female and married to the same man for almost 10 years now, and I don't see why someone else's marriage is my business. People who want to stop gay marriage are perverts obsessed with other people's lives. Just because its legal doesn't mean that they're forced into it. The people of California are morons.

  15. 15

THIS IS SO DUMB. Take a brief look back in our history. A hundred years ago, it was illegal for blacks and whites to marry. Then the process of appealing that law started. The same ol tired arguments were being used then, too. "oh, its just the way its been done forever…This isnt right to repeal a law that has worked for so long" blah blah bullshit. Maybe these people need a little wake up call to realize that OBVIOUSLY the old ways of doing things ARENT REALLY WORKING. its time to move forward. ANd it they want to stay in 1960, they should make all the laws passed invalid too. Maybe we should turn around desegregation….Or womens rights. You know, because all that worked out for the best.

  16. 16

And what kills me the most is that gay marriage wouldnt even directly AFFECT the people that are so opposed to it. Tell me Bubba, who do you even know that is gay? How would someone 7 states away, getting married, affect you and you life?

  17. 17

Re: WatcherOne – The majority should NEVER decide for the minority, EVER, for any reason. So no, this decision was rendered UNFAIRLY!

  18. 18

Re: Justsomeguy – Nice to hear your opinion paraded as fact. You really are just some guy, so STFU.

  19. 19

Re: sugarmagnolia1082 – The people that object to this marriage undoubtedly still think blacks and whites shouldn't marry and that women shouldn't have rights. It's quite sad.

  20. 20

Re: sugarmagnolia1082 – I think the fact that these people most likely do not know anyone who is gay and/or don't have the ability to realize and empathize with how this would affect them is probably why they are so adamantly opposed. In other words: Compassion Fail.

  21. 21

I'm not gay but if the courts upholds the law…I'd be pretty pissed to pay state taxes to a state that doesn't offer me complete and equal rights under the law.

I can't believe the whacked right still has a voice in this issue. it's the 21st century for your Christ's sake!

  22. MP says – reply to this

This issue doesn't belong in the court system for a judge to decide. It was voted on, the people have spoken, for those who don't like the ruling, get it on the ballot again and hope for it to go the way you want. Perez, if this was an issue where you agreed with the outcome of the vote, I'm sure you would be the first one yelling, the people have spoken, keep it out of the court system. I find you to be hypocritical.

Re: Perezbian_Lovah – You my friend are very confused. Marriage has always been between a man and a woman. Why do you think there was Adam and Eve? God did not make Bill for Adam and Tanisha for Eve. Marriage is sacred and religious. This tradition has been going on for many many centuries. You can't just break it like that. And anyway its not like you can't still be with your significant other. And how does Blacks and whites getting married and womens rights have to do with anything? There is no correlation.

  24. 24

Re: Perezbian_Lovah – I have many gay and lesbian friends and i am tolerant of their choices. However, i stand firm to my belief that marriage was always meant to be between a man and a woman.

  25. 25

Re: Perezbian_Lovah – um, hello? DEMOCRACY

  26. 26

    Re: starlite005

You have your history wrong. Traditional marriage is not one man and one woman in sacred union of romantic love. Traditional marriage is one man owning as many wives as he could afford. The woman generally had little if any say in who she married - her spouse was chosen by her parents. Sometimes the man didn't have any say either; he married who his parents told him to marry. Traditional marriage wasn't about forming a union between a man and a woman. Traditional marriage was about forming a business relationship between families. It was also a way of determining which kids a father had to be responsible for. (IE: the kids he fathered outside his marriage were SOL. He only had to pay for the "legitimate" kids.) Marriage wasn't even recognized as a sacrament until the 13th century.

The definition of marriage has been changed many, many times throughout history. These changes have generally been good. These changes gave women an equal standing in the marriage. They gave the couple getting marriage the choice of who to marry. These changes have given children born outside of marriage a better chance in life. Now it needs to change just a little bit more. Civil rights should never be subject to popular vote. We're a democratic republic, not a democracy.

Re: starlite005 – Um Hello, CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE, idiot!

  28. 28

Re: starlite005 – How nice that you get to decide for them, you're such a TRUE friend and everything.

  29. 29

Re: starlite005 – First of all, I'm not "your friend", which I happen to think is a very good thing. Like the other poster said, marriage started as a contract — women were sold as chattel to men. It was about property and assets gained through dowry. Plus, if you can't clue into the context of what I am saying in a previous comment, because you are too much of an idiot to scroll up, I'm not about to educate your dumb ass. Hopefully, the courts will realize that this is an important civil rights issue and vote as such — my country already HAS gay marriage. Stop using your Bible to DISCRIMINATE against the GLBTQI community. It makes you look ignorant.

Equal Protection arguments rarely stand up to Supreme Court muster. The voters of California have spoken. If you don't like it, put another initiative on the ballot.
